¡ã ¼¾çÈ°¡ ¾ÈÁø¼ö ÀÛ°¡ : Ahn Jin Soo

Captures the Chinese hearts with a red figure representing a high landscape and wealth of nature’s wonderful sight
“Cultivates a new art market passionately painting the reason of red-hot nature in full bloom”
Artist of Western painting: Ahn Jin-soo

Human beings born into part of nature sometimes come to see a vast landscape entering their own life from a sheet of painting through the trick hanging down in many folds. It must be due to the inertia carved in every blood vessel of the mankind who would start a day breaking the dawn air when, a long time ago, a fierce animal’s dreadful roar echoing from a distant mountain had hardly stopped. To author Ahn Jin-soo who completes his work by stroking random thoughts of the trimmed landscape held deeply in the heart every early morning with a knife, painting is not a job for livelihood but a happy process of being faced with his hidden instinct. Author Ahn, who is winning a sensational popularity in the Chinese market with manly and large-minded character and broadening the market by arranging an international exchange of the fine arts, still sits up all night with passion to embrace the noted mountain he is unable to reach.

An intensive description of Zhangjiajie in China and red flowers makes him feel Oriental aesthetics from oil painting.
Zhangjiajie in China, a background for the blockbuster <Avatar> and an advertisement for domestic famed car is a tourist attraction of forest park representing China which holds the wonderful scenery of a magnificent canyon .As a vertical mountain with strangely shaped rocks, it was listed among the world’s cultural heritages in 1992 and loved by the people of the world whenever it is opened to the public. Author Ahn Jin-soo, the most expressive artist of Western painting in Korea-China exchange, embraced the place, an origin of Chinese landscape painting. In the 1970’s when even a foreign trip was not easy, author Ahn, a young student of modern arts, daringly chose to go to China’s Tsingua University graduate school of arts at a turning point between majoring in life design in Japan and doing painting as hobby while earning livelihood. It is said that what captured his heart in the three years of study abroad was the beautiful scenery of three thousand peaks rising up with the roar of immemorial deep sea, that is, the landscape of Zhangjiajie. In order to sublimate a long breath of command with a sharp, cool volume, author Ahn set the shape by starting primary coloring based on acryl and finally completed the unique expression of applying and stroking oil paint in many folds with a knife. Sights called ‘appeal peak’ because they resemble a brush inversely stuck in, the wonderful sight of sheer cliff feels as if laughing magnanimously because the author buried in the mountain with curious rocks held the wonderful sights visited and appreciated many times over several months in his heart and spread them out in detail on an early morning with emotion. <Landscape of Zhangjiajie> portrayed in the series of four seasons each holds a shy cliff in the spring, greenness in earnest expansion in the summer and even richer leaves when they turn yellow with the author’s wonderful emotion by a number of stroking with a knife along with the sight of a perpendicular mountain. The beautiful and fantastic scenery gets out of a green tone and leads to <the winter of Zhangjiajie> with the season of fresh verdure fallen asleep white, being covered with a lump of whites waiting for the daybreak of a new life born. The emotion of winter closely expressing the details of branches with snow heaped up is delicately exercised when he returns to Korea and depicts <Winter of Mt. Seorak>too. Besides, opposite to a dreamlike distant sight unique enough with rain and mist, there are landscapes in Switzerland and Ha Long Bay in clear expression and you can see that <Waves at Taejongdae> expresses the dynamic of surfing foams graciously. In addition, by individualistic interpretation of inanimate objects, his series of red roses and tree peony loved in China proves that the author understands both popularity and Chinese sentiment. The Chinese who prefer red color because it represents wealth and health as much as gold color in the course of birth, aging, illness and death will put the painting of red flowers on the collector’s wish list each time when they see them in such passionate description.

A master in colors who joins the world and art with incessant exhibitions, creations and exchanges
Author Ahn, who extensively embraces a gigantic landscape and a flower in wild garden on diverse canvases from No. 10 to 20, under No. 50 and over No. 100, is in the limelight for keeping to the formula of landscape and flexible style of completing it realistically despite a sharp and original expression. Author Ahn started to establish the present painting style earnestly in his forties and while painting a pretty still life with an ordinary brush, he has gradually come to enliven the details of a simple and rough feel with a knife. As he is not an abstract author but a realistic painter, properly increasing or decreasing the materials to put in the painting while setting composition is a habit since he acted as reporter for an art magazine. He says that a painting which has failed to contain his own vitality and hope is a dead painting and that physical training by exercise in need for all-night work keeps the glittering emotion from evaporating surrounded by fatigue. Author Ahn holds a foreign exchange exhibition monthly and holds a domestic group exhibition two or three times a month at Insa-dong to promote Korean artists together with his works. Besides, based on the experience in the press, he has organized the Korea Modern Artists Association, an art organization focusing on international exchange, participates in a foreign exhibition at least once a year together with a hundred members also belonging to Korea Art Association and arranges the exchange between excellent artists overseas and domestic ones. Author Ahn who has verified competitiveness in the Chinese market through his private shows at Dalian Convention Center, Tianjin Civil Museum, Beijing Gallery, etc. proposes to find markets in China and the US to his colleagues in the future rather than in Europe. Author Ahn who has taken over galleries in China held his first private show successfully from August 1 through September 30, will leave for the US carrying his dear dozen pieces of work with him from October 19 through 29 by invitation of the president of K&P Gallery at Chelsea, New York and will participate in an international exchange at Wuihae city. Shantung China, on November 29. Though keeping busy, Author Ahn plays the saxophone practiced in the band in his younger days and shows such passion as to list the video on the You Tube, and even now he offers himself to play for celebration at each event of art exhibition. Author Ahn who says he know nothing about boredom in daily life by combining activity in work with fining another artist in the life of exchange is familiar enough with the scenery of beauty at Mt. Seorak and Taejingdae to express them with closed eyes at his home located at Chang-dong because of his meticulous nature. To him happened another new wish list - to contain the wonderful sight of Mt. Geumgang, in North Korea with the same feeling he had when he looked at Zhangjiajie for the first time in life. Author Ahn who shows a good example of his own to students, colleagues and galleries passionately in order to promote the excellence of domestic artwork at home and abroad with passing years is a true total-package artist who branches out to the world instead of sinking into the trouble of creation.
