‘날아올라 국민의당’ 8.27 임시전국당원대표자대회서 지도부 선출
국민의당은 8월 27일(일) 국회 의원회관 대회의실에서 임시전당대회를 열고 새 지도부를 선출했다. 이번 임시전당대회에서는 전당대회의 권한을 일부 중앙위로 위임하는 권한위임의 건을 만장일치 의결했으며 당대표 및 최고위원을 지명했다. 이번 지도부 선거는 K-voting 온라인 투표와 ARS 전화 투표로 진행했으며 전 당원이 손쉽게 투표에 참여할 수 있도록 했다. 전체 유권자 234,761명 중 56,953명이 참여, 최종투표율은 24.26%로 집계되어 지난해 전당대회의 당원투표율보다 5% 높은 수치를 기록했다.
당연직 최고위원인 전국여성위원장에는 기호2번 박주현 후보가 유효득표율 56.15%로 당선되었다. 당연직 최고위원인 전국청년위원장은 기호1번 이태우 후보가 유효득표율 41.50%로 당선되었다. 선출직 최고위원은 총 5명의 후보자 중 34.52% 득표율(1위)을 기록한 기호4번 장진영, 24.86% 득표율(2위)을 기록한 기호5번 박주원 후보자가 각각 국민의당 최고위원에 선출되었다.
마지막으로 당대표 경선은 안철수, 이언주, 정동영, 천정배 후보가 경쟁하였으며 안철수 후보가 결선 없이 당 대표에 당선됐다. 안 후보의 득표는 유효투표 56,953표 중 29,095표로 과반이상인 51.09%를 기록했다. 최종 투표결과는 K-voting시스템을 통한 온라인 투표와 ARS 전화 투표 방식이 합산된 결과다.
모든 투표가 온라인과 전화로만 진행됐음에도 새 지도부 선출을 축하하고 격려하기 위해 전국 각지에서 1,500여명의 당원과 손학규 상임고문, 정대철 고문 등이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 또한 청와대 전병헌 정무수석, 더불어민주당 우원식 원내대표, 이춘석 사무총장, 자유한국당 홍문표 사무총장, 바른정당 정문헌 사무총장, 주한 일본대사관 코리타 신이치 참사관, 주한 중국대사관 진준걸 참사관 등 외빈이 참석해 국민의당의 재도약을 응원했다. 새롭게 구성된 국민의당 지도부는 혁신, 도약, 승리, 소통, 협치를 모토로 국민 속으로 다가가 혁신하는 국민의당, 도약하는 국민의당, 승리하는 국민의당이 될 것을 다짐했다.
안철수 당대표, “우리의 길은 단호하게 싸우는 선명한 야당의 길”
당선연설을 통해 안철수 당대표는 “당 대표로 선출된 이 순간, 국민의당을 변화의 격랑을 헤치고 국민의 사랑을 받는 정당으로 만들어 기필코 내년 지방선거 승리를 여러분께 드려야 한다는 천근, 만근의 책임감에 몸이 떨립니다. 창당 초심으로 돌아가겠습니다. 광야에서 쓰러져 죽을 수 있다는 결연한 심정으로 제2창당의 길, 단단한 대안야당의 길에 나서겠습니다. 우리의 길은 철저하게 실력을 갖추고, 단호하게 싸우는 선명한 야당의 길임을 분명하게 밝힙니다. 우리는 부모의 경제적 능력이 아이의 미래를 좌우하는 세상과 싸울 것입니다. 우리는 정권이 바뀌자 거꾸로 펼쳐지는 코드 인사 등 모든 불합리에 맞서 싸울 것입니다. 우리는 대한민국의 안전과 평화를 위협하는 주변세력, 상황관리 제대로 못하는 무능과도 싸울 것입니다”라고 혁신의 의지를 강조했다. 한편 안철수 당대표는 지난 28일 첫 행보로 신임지도부와 함께 국립현충원을 참배하고 방명록에 ‘대한민국의 정치개혁과 미래를 향해 전진하겠습니다’라고 적었다.

The People’s Party chose Ahn as the new leader
The People’s Party held provisional party convention on 27 August at the Member’s Office Building of the National Assembly to elect the new leadership. The rights of the convention at this time were delegated to the central committee and the party appointed the party leader and the members of the supreme council. The election method was K-voting and ARS. 56,953 party members out of the total 234,761 threw a vote which was 24.26%, a 5% increase on the last vote. 

Park Ju-hyun seized the chairwoman of the women’s committee with 56.15% vote and Lee Tae-woo took the chairman of the youth committee with 41.50% vote. The 2 members of the supreme council are Jang Jin-young (34.52%) and Park Ju-won (24.86%). On the primary, Ahn Cheol-soo, Lee Un-ju, Chung Dong-young and Chun Jung-bae competed and Ahn gained 29,095 votes out of the total 56,953, a 51.09% to win. 

1,500 party members attended the appointment ceremony including the senior advisor Sohn Hak-kyu and the advisor Chyung Dai-chul. Some of the other party members and foreign ambassadors in Korea also attended the ceremony to give congratulations. The newly elected leadership voiced together to do their best under the mottos ‘innovation, leap forward, victory, communication and cooperation’.

Ahn, “To fight with both feet as an opposition party is our way”

Ahn said “I will make the People’s Party loved by the people and my body’s shaking at the thought of my responsibility to bring victory to us at the next year local election. I will stick to my guns and walk the strong path as the alternative opposition party. We must brush up our abilities and I make clear that to fight with both feet is our way. We will fight against ‘the parents’ pockets decide the future of the children society’. We will fight against the ruling party’s biased designation of the staff. We will fight against those who are a threat to the safety and peace of Korea.” As his first move, Ahn paid respect at Seoul National Cemetery and wrote on the visitor’s book ‘I will march forward towards political reform and the future of Korea.’
