To keep up the ever increasing market demand, CEO Kim travels every corner of the country whenever the store closes twice a month alongside importing 10 tons of antiques from overseas every 15 days. Kim started with a 16 square meter store and steadily grew the size to 661 square meter space in 40 years boasting the longest life span in the antique industry. Today, Minong undoubtedly is the most famous antique and interior store in Daejeon and Kim has seen many of her clients span three generations. 

Hard work is the key to success

Kim can discern the time it was made by the color, smell and gloss of an antique. Not because she is gifted but because she has worked really hard and lived with them. She has read extensively the books related to antiques and met a number of antique masters. All items at the store are ordered and checked by Kim herself. She has accumulated knowledge on antique markets overseas and can able to import the 17 to 20C antiques at the wholesale prices. 

You can find antiques from the UK, France (Cador) and Italy (Viaveneto) in styles of gothic, retro and vintage at Minong which are especially popular among young people. It is notable that many antique shop owners in Seoul make a journey down to Daejeon to have a glimpse on current trend at Minong and some of European tourists are also paying a visit for fun. 

Kim points out line, curve, pattern and the shape of animals and things in nature as the elements to consider in creating one’s own space in harmony with European antiques. Kim also advises that you can analyze your preference by analyzing the region and the origin of the country of the antiques appeared in art, novels and movies.
