경상남도 통영시, '제56회 통영한산대첩축제' 준비에 박차
경상남도 통영시의 대표 축제인 '제56회 통영한산대첩축제'가 8월 11일부터 15일 문화마당 및 병선마당, 통제영, 이순신공원 등 통영시 일원에서 다시 한 번 화려한 막을 올린다. 이는 동양의 나폴리라 불리는 아름다운 고장 경남 통영시 한산면에서 해마다 열리는 문화제로 필사즉생(必死卽生), 필생즉사(必生卽死)라 하며 세계 4대 해전 중 가장 위대한 해전이었던 한산대첩을 승리로 이끈 성웅 이충무공의 구국정신을 기리고, 한산대첩을 기념하는 축제다.
통영한산대첩축제는 1962년 5월 1일 한산대첩기념제전으로 시작되어 올해로 56회를 맞았다. 축제의 특징으로서는 한산대첩의 역사적인 현장을 그대로 재현한다는 점이 있다. 아울러 다양한 여름 레포츠를 체험할 수 있는 한려수도 바다축제행사가 함께 열려 색다른 여름이 즐거움을 선사해주기도 하며, 다양한 볼거리와 색다른 경험을 제공한다. 아울러 이순신 장군과 바다가 함께하는 축제답게 수군체험 노젓기 대회나 카누 노젓기 대회 등 해양과 밀접한 다양하고 재미있는 프로그램이 많다.
이번 '제56회 통영한산대첩축제'는 개막일인 11일 16시 통제영 세병관-한산대첩 광장에서 열리는 '이순신장군 행렬'과 18시 20분 한산대첩 광장에서 열리는 '군점', 14일 10시 산양읍 담포항(삼덕)에서 열리는 한산대첩 출정식, 18시 이순신공원(한산앞바다)에서 열리는 '한산대첩 재현', 매일 14시와 16시 문화마당에서 열리는 '거북선 출정식' 등의 대표행사와 함께 다채로운 프로그램이 관광객들을 만날 예정이다. 또한 KBS국악관현악단의 개막공연과 호국평화음악회, 민속공연으로 마련된 통영승전무, 남해안별신굿, 통영오광대 등이 더욱 풍성한 축제를 만든다.
한편, 통영시는 축제의 개최를 위해 식중독예방 위생점검 및 홍보 강화, 숙박업소 위생관리 지도점검, 관광지 및 취약지역 주말 특별 방역소독 실시 등 축제 준비에 만전을 기하고 있다.

통영시, 민자․외자사업 유치로 ’일자리 창출’ 견인
일자리 창출 문제가 국정 운영의 최우선 과제로 부각되고 있는 가운데 통영시(시장 김동진)가 그동안 추진한 민자․외자유치사업을 통한 일자리 창출 효과가 가시화되면서 지역 경제 활성화와 상생발전에 견인차 역할을 하고 있다. 
통영국제음악제, TPO(아시아태평양도시관광진흥기구) 총회 등 국제적인 행사에 대비하기 위해 통영시가 민자․외자 유치사업으로 추진하여 7월 말 오픈을 앞두고 있는 '스탠포드호텔&리조트'는 현재까지 총 97명(협력업체 포함)을 채용, 이 중 88명을 통영 지역민으로 채용하고 앞으로 추가 채용할 19명도 지역민을 위주로 채용할 계획이라 밝혀, 100명에 가까운 신규 일자리 창출로 지역 일자리 환경 개선과 지역주민 소득 증대에 한 몫을 톡톡히 하고 있다고 밝혔다. 
또한, 지난 2월 개장한 '루지'의 경우 채용인원 55명 중 지역민 53명을 채용하였으며, '동원로얄컨트리클럽&리조트'는 직원 145명 중 85명(협력업체 포함)을 지역민으로 채용하는 등 지역 일자리 창출을 충실히 해오고 있다. 통영시 관계자는 “정부의 일자리 추진 상황에 맞춰 대응전략 마련과 일자리 대책 추진상황을 수시 점검하고, 멸치가공․누비․자개 등 지역 산업과 연계한 좋은 일자리 창출을 위해 전 행정력을 집중하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

Tongyeong checks on 56th Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival

Tongyeong’s biggest festival ‘The Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival’ is held on 11-15 August around Byeongsun Sqaure, Tongjeyoung and Yi Sun Sin Park. The festival aims to show respect to Admiral Yi Sun-sin who led one of the four naval battles of the world ‘Hansan Battle’ to victory against the Japanese and also to admire his patriotism. The festival first started on 1 May 1962 and this year marks its 56th anniversary. 

Visitors can watch the revival of the Hansan Battle and enjoy a variety of summer sports and events and local food. Among many events, naval rowing experience and canoeing especially are recommended. 

The parade of the Hansan Battle starts at Hansan Battle Square with a ‘march’ on 11th at 4p.m. and ‘gungeom’ at 6:20 p.m. to ‘set sailing ceremony’ on 14th 10a.m. at Dampo Harbor to ‘revival of the battle’ on waters off Hansan at 6p.m. on the same day. The ‘turtle ship sailing’, on the other hand, is held at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. every day in Culture Park. The KBS Traditional Music Orchestra decorates the opening concert and other traditional and local music and dance performances are held through the festival. 

To bring a success to the festival, the city is checking on hygiene of restaurants and accommodation facilities and also carrying out quarantine works. 

Tongnyeong invites businesses to create jobs

The city’s years long investment promotion project has seen an agreeable result and is boosting up local job creation and economy. Tongyeong invited both public and private investments to build ‘Standford Hotel & Resort’ in order to sufficiently accommodate visitors of the Tongyeong International Music Festival and the TPO (Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities). The hotel opened July this year and created 97 jobs of which 88 are citizens of Tongyeog. 19 citizens are expected to be further hired soon and the hotel alone will have created around 100 jobs when the recruitment is completed. 

Luge, opened last February, on the other hand, hired 53 local residents out of the total 55 while Dongwon Royal Country Club & Resort 85 residents out of the total 145. 

An official of the city says “We are pushing forward job creation in accordance with the Moon Administration’s job policies. We regularly check on the process of the project with particular attention to anchovy processing and the local quilting and mother-of-pearl industries.”
