‘이름을 짓는다’는 것은 다양한 사회적 관계를 맺고 살아가는 인간에게 있어 무엇보다 중요한 행위이다. 태어나 이름을 가짐으로서 비로소 하나의 인격체로 존중받게 되고, 타인과의 관계를 형성해나갈 수 있기 때문이다. 그러나 현대사회에 이르러 이름이 갖는 이러한 중요성이 퇴색되고, 그저 예쁜 이름, 유행하는 이름만을 좇는 경향이 늘고 있다. 이에 지인철학작명원의 박대희 원장은 이름의 중요성을 다시금 되새기는 한편, 현대인들이 더 나은 삶을 개척해나갈 수 있도록 돕고자 앞장서고 있다.

인생은 ‘좋은 이름’에서 출발한다
우리는 살아가면서 수많은 사람들을 만나고, 그들의 이름을 알게 된다. 이 때 이름과 잘 어울리는 느낌의 사람이 있는가 하면, 반대로 몸에 맞지 않는 옷을 입은 듯 어색하게 느껴지는 사람도 있기 마련이다. 자신과 어울리지 않는 이름은 상대가 잘 기억하지 못하거나, 부르기도 어려울 뿐더러, 이후의 삶에도 부정적인 영향을 끼치기 쉽다. 
이에 대해 지인철학작명원의 박대희 원장은 “인생의 시작은 ‘좋은 이름’에서 출발합니다. 때문에 이름은 좋은 뜻과 소리를 가지고 자신의 타고난 선천운에 도움을 줘야하며, 이름이 불릴 때 애정은 물론 안정감과 자신감으로 다가와야 합니다”라고 말했다. 그의 설명에 따르면 ‘이름을 짓는다’는 것은 단순히 ‘명명한다’는 것 이상의 의미를 가진다. 흔히 이름이란 것을 ‘그 사람을 부르는 명칭’이라고만 생각하기 쉽지만, 자연의 일부이자 복잡한 의식체계를 갖춘 인간에게 있어 이름이 가진 진정한 힘은 그 사람의 관념과 정신에 작용하며 특정한 행동을 촉발시키는 역할을 하기 때문이다.
박 원장은 “우리들은 모두 특정한 사주를 갖고 태어납니다. 어떤 사람은 사업을 통해 번창할 수 있는 운을 갖고 있기도 하고, 또 어떤 사람은 학업에 매진하여 높은 지위로 올라갈 수 있는 운을 갖고 있기도 합니다. 하지만 이것이 모두 실현되지 않는 까닭은 살아가면서 맞닥뜨리는 무수한 갈림길에서 언제나 올바른 길만을 선택하는 것은 아니기 때문입니다”라며, “이름은 사주의 부분을 채워주는 역할을 합니다. 이름을 바꾼다고 하루아침에 모든 것이 달라지는 것은 아니지만, 개명을 하게 되면서 나타나는 삶의 작은 변화들이 인생을 바꾸는 터닝포인트가 될 수 있습니다”라고 설명했다. 사업운은 좋지만 실제 행동으로 옮기는 못하는 사람에게는 실천력을, 학업운을 좋게 타고났지만 한 가지에 집중하지 못하는 이에게는 집중력을 부여하는 것, 즉 사람들에게 스스로에 대한 자신감과 인생에서의 행복을 되찾아주는 것이 이름이 가진 힘이라는 말이다.

‘작명’에 대한 사람들의 편견과 오해를 불식시키고자 노력하고 있는 박대희 원장은 사주명리학을 ‘대중적인 철학’의 수준으로 끌어올렸다는 평을 받고 있다. 지역사회에서의 활발한 활동과 각종 언론을 통해 일반인들의 인식 개선에 힘쓴 것은 물론, 최근에는 MBC 「마이리틀텔레비전」에도 출연하며 대중들 앞에 작명의 원리와 실제를 입증하는 활약을 보였으며, YTN 사이언스 「황금나침반」에서는 삼성이 어려움에 처할 수 있다는 경고와 올해의 국운을 살펴 위정자를 바로 세우는 일에 대한 것 등을 조언하기도 했다. 한편, 수원시 영통구에 자리한 지인철학작명원은 현대적인 인테리어와 밝고 깔끔한 분위기로 ‘작명소’에 대한 심리적인 문턱을 크게 낮춰, 일반인 누구나 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 명소로 자리매김하고 있다.

자신 또한 어려운 유년시절을 보냈기에, 그리고 좌절하고 절망했던 순간 누군가 내밀어 준 손이 얼마나 큰 힘이 되는 지를 잘 알고 있기에 자신이 할 수 있는 일에 더욱 최선을 다하고 싶다는 박대희 원장. 이들의 노력이 혼란한 현대사회를 살아가고 있는 많은 이들에게 긍정적인 영향력으로 전해지길 바란다.

“Life starts from a good name”

We meet many people during our life and learn their names. We feel that some people have their names that suit them well or rather negative, like certain clothes go well with one or go disastrous. Inappropriate names are hard to remember and that can call negative energy. 

Director Park Dae-hee of Jiin Naming Center says “Life starts from a good name. So the name must help the one with good sound and meaning for inherent luck and the sound and meaning must come to others with stability and confidence.” 

Park says that naming is more than ‘calling’: it is part of nature and it affects the name holder’s spirit and conception that can create certain actions. 

“Everybody is born with its own four pillars of destiny (year, month, day and hour of birth). Some are born with business trait and some are with academic. But the reason these are not fulfilled is because we face many paths in our life and we are not always choosing the right path. In this respect, naming play a role to fill up the lacked part of one’s four pillars of destiny. Changing one’s name does not mean that it can then bring good luck but the small changes happening thereafter are functioning as each turning point.”

A good name gives a power of execution to the one who was born with business trait but lacks power of execution or a concentration to the one who was born with academic trait but lacks concentration. 

Park starts a consulting by paying a careful attention to what her client says and why he/she wants to change his/her name. Park then brings up not only a good name but gives advice as a mentor so that the client can find psychological stability. She always feels rewarded whenever her clients pay a visit to say thank you because they were comforted or their business went well after changing their names. 

Fostering talented naming specialists based on conviction and principle

Park is praised by many for raising the theory of four pillars of destiny to a level of popular philosophy. She has exerted her effort in improving public recognition on naming through active social engagement and media appearance. She recently took part in MBC’s ‘My Little Television’ and explained the principles and applications of naming and also appeared in YTN Science’s ‘Golden Compass’ to warn that Samsung Group would face a risk this year and gave an advice on politicians to be righteous. 

Jiin Naming Center is located in Yeongtong District, Suwon. The center is decorated with modern interior and gives a bright and clean ambience so that visitors can feel a sense of comfort and stability and can relax when in consulting.

As for her future plan, Park is ambitious to foster talented naming specialists based on conviction and principle so that more people can benefit from good names. She currently has a number of pupils and they are studying hard to learn Park’s knowledge and philosophy on the value and meaning of naming. 

“One of my pupils said that he was impressed by my effort in turning the four pillars of destiny to a scientific theory and in making it easy to understand and that’s why he wished to learn under my instruction. He said that he also wanted to play the role like me in the future. He learns fast and grow fast and he has passion and a goal”

Park was born to a not well to do family and she knows very well how great the feel when someone offers her helping hand and comfort. Like the same mind, she is pulling her fingers out hard today so that more people can find comfort and success through having a right name.
