김해-부산 도로․교통 뻥 뚫린다. 상생발전협력
김해시는 허성곤 시장 취임 이후 도로, 교통분야 등 각종 현안 해결에 혼신을 다하고 있다. 특히 김해와 부산을 연결하는 도로망 구축을 위하여 부산시와 꾸준하게 협의, 노력한 결과 2020년에는 광역도로 2개 구간을 개통하고, 2022년이 되면 김해~부산을 연결하는 도로망 체계가 획기적으로 개선되어 도로·교통 지형이 바뀌게 된다. 본도로가 완료되어 부산광역시에서 추진 중인 산성터널 및 화명측 접속도로(2018년 완료예정), 금정측 접속도로(2019년 완료예정)와 연결되면, 김해~부산간 국도와 고속도로의 불편한 도로교통체증이 완전히 해소될 전망이다. 동김해~식만jct간 도로개설사업도 부산시와 사업추진 협약을 체결하였다. 5월부터 설계에 착수, 2018년 착공하여 2020년 완료할 계획이다. 이 노선과 부산시에서 추진하고 있는 식만~사상간 도로(2022년 완료예정)가 연계되면 동김해와 서부산을 연결하는 도로망이 완성된다. 이와 같이, 김해시에서 적극 추진 중인 광역도로 개설사업이 완료되면 그동안 부산시 등 타 지역으로 가기 위해 시내를 통과하던 차량이 줄어들어 시가지 교통정체도 해소될 것으로 기대된다. 그 밖에, 서낙동강 정비사업, 허황후신행길 및 가야문화권 공동 관광 상품화, 낙동강 뱃길복원 관광자원화 사업, 김해신공항 건설 대책 공동대응, 농산물 도매시장 건립사업 등 20여개 사업에 대하여 김해·부산 상생발전협력회의를 통해 괄목할 만한 성과를 이뤄내기 위해 부산시와 협의를 적극 추진하고 있다. 

기차와 유채 그리고 한우 경남 관광의 메카, 김해 생림면 
생림면은 '김해낙동강레일파크'와 '생림오토캠핑장' 그리고 미식가들에게 인정받은 '생림 한우'까지 탈거리, 즐길거리, 먹을거리가 넘쳐나는 김해의 대표적인 관광지다. 거기에 더해 최근 생림면에서 33,000㎡(약 1만 평) 규모의 유채밭이 조성되어 화려한 볼거리까지 추가됐다. 지난 4월 29일에는 생림면체육회에서 김해낙동강레일파크 개장 1주년을 맞아 '낙동강 유채밭 힐링 한마당'을 개최해 관광객들이 화사한 유채꽃을 즐길 수 있도록 했다. 이날 행사에서는 포토존 사진 촬영, 유채밭 걸어보기, 축하공연 등 다양한 프로그램이 펼쳐져 지역 주민과 관광객들에게 큰 호응을 얻었다. 생림면 유채밭은 생림면에서 지난해 11월부터 조성해 온 곳으로 레일바이크를 타면서 내려다보는 유채밭은 마치 샛노란 바다를 연상케 해 벌써부터 관광 명소로 인기를 끌고 있다. 장환형 생림면장은 "레일바이크도 타고 유채밭도 즐긴 후 생림 한우까지 맛본다면 완벽한 관광이 될 것이다. 이번 유채밭은 낙동강레일파크의 관광인프라를 보완하는 큰 밑거름이 되었으며 가을에는 코스모스 단지를 조성해 사시사철 관광객들에게 다양한 볼거리를 제공할 계획"이라고 밝혔다. 

2017년 김해맛집․향토음식 경영대회 개최 
김해시는 다양한 향토음식 개발과 김해 맛집 발굴을 위하여 2017 김해맛집, 향토음식 경연대회를 개최했다. 경연대회는 5월 13일(토) 14:00경부터 제11회 김해식품박람회가 열리는 수릉원 일대에서 개최되었으며, 지난 3월 김해지역 음식점 및 시민을 대상으로 참여 모집을 한 후 1차 서류심사를 거쳐 본선 경연 12개 팀을 선정하였다. 
경연은 출품요리 전시 및 시식을 통한 심사와 무료 시민 시식회도 함께 진행되며, 나눔과 화합의 대형 비빕밥 만들기 행사 등 다양한 부대행사도 함께 열릴 예정이다. 시 관계자는 “제11회 김해식품박람회 행사와 연계하여 개최되는 행사에 많은 시민들이 참여하여 우리 지역 음식의 맛과 멋을 함께 즐기는 계기가 되기를 바란다.”고 말했다.

Gimhae improves roads and highways 
Gimhae City is opening intercity roads that connect Gimhae to Busan by 2020 and the overall connections between the two cities will be significantly improved by 2022 when the project is completed. The roads will get through Busan’s Sansung Tunnel and the Hwamyeong accident road by 2018 and the Geumjeong accident road by 2019 which will solve the traffic congestion completely. Gimhae also has signed a contract with Busan for the East Gimhae and Singman JCT section completed by 2020 starting from 2018. Also, the Singman and Sasang District Busan section by 2022 will smoothly connect East Gimhan and West Busan when completed while the opening of the intercity roads will turn the traffic through the city center that cause congestions to out of the center. Some of the 20 other cooperative projects between Gimhae and Busan include maintenance of the west Nakdong River, creating Heo Hwang-ok path, recovering of the Nakdong River waterways and building new airport and agricultural wholesale market. 

Saengnim-myeon, rising as a hot tourist spot
Saengnim-myeon, Gimhae is rising as a hot tourist spot; Gimhae Nakdong River Rail Park and Saengnim Auto Camp Site are nicely located in the area while the famous Saengnim Korean Beef delights the taste bud of gourmets. Recently, the area created a large canola filed on a 33,000㎡ land and held the Nakdong River Canola Field Healing Festival on April 29 to add more attraction. A number of photo zones were set up while the programs like walking the field and concerts livened up the mood during the festival. We can appreciate the beauty and the grandeur of canola up on while riding the rail and one might imagine that he/she is sailing through the sea of canola. The head of Saengnim-myeon (township) Jang Hwan-hyung said “I will highly recommend you the three-step perfect tour: 1) rail bike 2) canola field 3) Saengnim Korean Beef to finish off the tour. For the coming autumn, we are also planning to create a large cosmos field.” 

Gimhae promotes local specialties 
In order to find tasty local cuisines, the city held the 2017 Gimhae Best Restaurant and Local Specialty Competition on May 13 coordinated with the 11th Gimhae Food Expo. The city chose 12 finalists through a fair screening for the competition. The winning cuisines were displayed and tested and they also participated in the ‘bibimbab (mixed rice) making’ alongside the visitors. An official of the city said “We hope that the event will serve as an opportunity for visitors nationwide and overseas to enjoy the true taste of Gimhae.”
