Located in Chungju City, Daeha Food was a food company established in 1990. The company boasts its R&D capability in fermentation technology that made it possible to introduce unique kimchi brands. Based on the success it had achieved, the company changed the name to the current Egreen (agricultural corporation) in 2016 and introduced ‘Okkimchi’ and ‘Chaga Fermented Kimchi’. “Kimchi is melted with our ancestor’s wisdom and is proved to be a scientific food. It contains a variety of lactobacillus, vitamin, carotene and fiber that are good for antioxidant, anticancer and high blood pressure. It was chosen as one of the 5 foods of the world. So we maximized these excellent functions of kimchi through our special aging method by using jade (nephrite)” explains Lee Kyung-mi who has applied for patent on ‘jade method’. Jade has long been known to bring health and longevity. Donguibogam (Principles and Practice of Eastern Medicine) records “Jade releases waste in the body, polishes the skin and boosts up blood energy.” It is also reported today that it is good for diabetes and kidney disease. Many people have tried to use the effect in various products. The difference of Egreen, however, is that the company thoroughly analyzed its effect on kimchi and scientifically calculated the application methods which it succeeded to a practical level. Egreen actually has its own jade (nephrite) mine. It is used for storage of cabbage and fermentation of kimchi through the jade aging method at a ‘special jade precooling room’ and all the processing from collecting the cabbage to low temperature room is applied with jade far-infrared radiation (resonance effect-white sound) method. The storage releases a considerable amount of far-infrared radiation and a day old kimchi, for example as a result, boasts crispier taste than other kimchis with enhanced lactobacillus but without the unique odor. According to the jade method operator, the resonance reaction between jade and kimchi keeps the appropriate amount of water to maximize the osmotic pressure of the nutrition and ingredients. But the differentiation of Egreen does not stop here: the kimchi is delivered in a box included of jade in order to maintain the freshness that might deteriorate during the delivery. For this reason, Okkimchi always keeps its freshest state wherever you put an order. Pushing forward R&D and expansion of business
Egreen’s another hit product Chaga Aging Kimchi also goes through the same process like the jade aging. The difference is that it is added with the extract of chaga mushroom which is good for antioxidant and anticancer. “We only use the chaga mushroom produced in Siberia, Russia that has the strongest medicinal value. The mushroom stimulates metabolism, improves immunity and removes active oxygen and waste.” Chaga Aging Kimchi was sold like hot pies as soon as it was released on the market and it ranked No.3 best seller within 2 months at Garak Market, the largest agro-fishery market in Korea. Having proven its excellent taste and nutritional value, Chaga Aging Kimchi currently is supplied to Harim Catering, H-Mart (US) and a number of sanatoriums and hospitals in Korea. Not complacent, Egreen is ambitiously pushing forward R&D and expansion of business. Making the most of jade, the company, in cooperation with a large company in Korea, is working on development of the jade-added microfiber alongside a number of jade application methods to fridge filter, odor movers for pets, construction materials and sport equipment. Some of the products are already in the testing stage and have received positive feedback. “The effect of jade actually is no need to mention as it is globally proved already.
