Launched 13 years ago, the women CEO Kim Gyeong-hwa has grown MENEM as one of the top fashion brands. Kim hired actor Joo Sang-wook for the spokesmodel in 2010 in order to gentrify the brand. Yet its rational price also has played a certain part to secure its status today. One of the biggest advantages of MENEM is that the clothes are designed to suit all age groups. Kim launched the brand in 2007 by taking the meaning of the brand ‘blessed woman’. She received a citation from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Seoul in 2011 and the Proud Korean Awards in 2013 as well as the Small and Medium Enterprises Quality Management Awards in 2016 and the Excellent Enterprise Awards held by a public home shopping company the same year. 

Making a success at online shopping malls

Trust and transparent management is the ironclad rule of Kim. She raised quality of the materials and design while suggesting rational price to make a success in the market. But the success is not that surprising if we know the fact that Kim has worked in the textile industry for over 30 years and mastered the theory and practice of the whole process from the manufacturing to distribution. Kim has never sought after the fast profit but valued more of her passion and consumer trust. “I feel really rewarded whenever I see that the buyers of MENEM are happy and leave a word of satisfaction.”

Marching forward and founding a charity organization
When asked about future plan, Kim said “I will expand the scope of R&D in long-term perspective so that the company can grow as a global company over Korea.” Meanwhile, Kim has secretly donated part of her profits to the people in need; she donated 100 bags of rice to underprivileged neighbors and tens of million won to students in financial difficulty. Also, each of the 30 employees of MENEM donates 10,000 won every month while part of the company profits goes to religious organizations or orphanages. It is Kim’s firm will to return part of the profits to society for the common good. 

Growing together
“I have never ever delayed the monthly payment of the wages for my employees. All of them have been with me for a long time and MENEM couldn’t have been as successful as today without their expertise and diligence.
