‘Neoguri Tobacco, a franchise of domestic hand-made tobacco, has opened 30 member shops around the country in three months after startup, gaining control over the industry fast with amazing speed and vigor. This is not just because of the differentiated size of logistic or quality from the existing companies but also because Neoguri is making a strenuous effort for technological investment in so-called ‘auto machine,’ which has been a chronical malady in hand-made tobacco industry. Besides, Neoguri Tobacco is reputed to cultivate a path to co-prosperity between founder and members based on the franchise model of putting the profit of members first.

Generally, the biggest strength of hand=made tobacco is to acquire tobacco at a cheap price of 3,500 won per pack because the manufacturer purchases the material tobacco leaf directly. In the beginning of introduction, some domestic media reported on the harmful ingredients of tobacco leaf, causing consumers to worry. However, Neoguri Tobacco settled a distribution structure of direct import of the high-quality natural tobacco leaf approved by USDA and quilled the rising concerns. Rather, compared dozens of toxic chemical additives of the existing tobaccos, it has become a clean tobacco enough not to contain anything but nicotine and sugar ingredients. Besides, other companies mostly use Southeast-made tobacco leaf which is easy to obtain on the basis of cost reduction, but Neoguri Tobacco has stuck to a high-quality US-made one and chose the system of lowering prices by jumboizing logistics. This success in differentiating from other companies in quality and prices has opened a path to satisfaction for both consumers and members. 

“in my eyes, it is an undue profit of franchise to receive ‘a joining fee’ simply for the reason of opening a store.” President Lee Sang-heon of Neoguri Tobacco, who has devised and studied ceaselessly on the plan to resolve problems of hand-made industry so far, has his business philosophy of always putting the member’s profit and place first. This is why Neoguri Tobacco receives no joining fee at all. Besides, president Lee is taking a positive attitude in communication with the site because he considers it a founder’s duty and role to be all out to resolve difficulty a shop owner may have. Like this, the founder’s honest attitude of reducing distribution margin and communicating with shop owners is the secret of Neoguri Tobacco’s current success. 

“At first, I proceeded with business mainly focusing on logistics and distribution structure, but what matters more was the ‘Auto machine’ which is likely to break down at the site. The ‘auto machine’ laid out in member’s shop to help ordinary consumers make a tobacco with purchased tobacco leaf and filter was making troubles for sales with its inefficient structure and high malfunction. It was the problem suffered by all hand-made tobacco industry. The relevant machines were imported from overseas with the weakness of no after-sale service. To solve this problem, president Lee spared no expenses for technological investment and R&D by purchasing and using many machines in person together with the company’s staff of engineers, etc. Such efforts have ended up by considerably reducing malfunctions and supplying a high-quality ‘auto machine’ coupled with fast speed of manufacture to members through a domestic company equipped with professional technology. Of course, he promised to supply a more enhanced machine to members using the existing machines.                    

As one consumer who loved hand-made tobacco, president Lee has also considered the place of members and his business philosophy made a foothold to make Neoguri Tobacco win recognition and grow in domestic industry receiving high scores in all of three sides – logistic and quality, consumer’s convenience and member’s profitability. President Lee promised to “supply faultless goods to consumers at honest, bubble-free prices in the future., too.”
