[Top News] Moon Jae-in
The 19th President of S. Korea fulfills ‘integration’ and ‘reformation’
“I will boldly say good bye to old and bad practices”

The influence peddling, so called Choi Choi Soon-sil Gate, brought a shock to most Korean people and it led to impeachment of the former president Park Geun-hye who is being trials for breaching the constitutional law and bribery at the moment. This also brought about a half year earlier presidential election on May 9th and the people chose Moon Jae-in for the new leader of S. Korea who will make it right the collapse of justice through integration and reformation.

“I will be the president of all”
So the angry Korean voters chose Moon Jae-in as the 19th President of S. Korea on May 9th. 13 million and 423,800 voters out of the total 32 million and 807,908 voters cast their vote for Moon Jae-in and it was 41.08%. Though not over 50%, it was a landslide victory considering the percentages of the other 4 candidates; Hong Jun-pyo 24.03%, Ahn Cheol-soo 21.41%, Yoo Seong-min 6.76% and Sim Sang-jung 6.17%. On seeing that he was a shoo-in for president in the earlier stage of the vote count, he made a journey to Sejongno Park in Gwanghwamun to celebrate the sealed winning with 2,000 supporters gathered on the park that night. “I will march forward together with the people towards a new future of Korea. From tomorrow, I will be the president of all; I will also serve those who did not vote for me. I will make the most of myself to build a new nation. I will walk the right way for nothing but only for the people. I will build a just Korea, a proud Korea and a dignified Korea and will be the proud president” said Moon. On the stage, the Minjoo Party leader Chu Mi-ae, Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, Seongnam Mayor Lee Jae-myung, Chungcheongnamdo Governor Ahn Hee-jung and Goyang Mayor Choi Sung stand alongside Moon and gave congratulatory speeches with Ahn the frequently talked action of his warm kiss on Moon’s cheek.

Moon summarizes inauguration speech in ‘integration’ and ‘reformation’

As the prolonged leadership vacuum caused by the impeachment was a matter of national urgency, Moon began his duty as the newly elected president straight after the inauguration ceremony held on May 10th, the next day of the election. His unprecedented action to wave hands to the public standing on roadside on his way to the Blue House in a limousine, as well as getting out and taking hands with them, was only a prelude of his open and people-friendly move and attitude that have been none to be found in any previous presidents of S. Korea. In his inauguration speech held in Rotunda Hall of the National Assembly building, Moon summarized his message in ‘integration’ and ‘reformation’; integration of the divided national sentiments over conservatism and progressivism and reformation of the old and bad practices. “I will boldly say good bye to old and bad practices. I myself will become anew. I will throw away the authoritative attitude. I will move out of the Blue House to Government Complex Seoul as soon as it is ready to open the age of Gwanghwanmun president. I will discuss with my advisers and staff. I will frequently communicate with the people. I will brief myself the major issues to the people. I will openly talk with the people whom I encounter on my way home after duty. I will hold a grand forum with the people on Gwanghwanmun Square every now and then. I will share the regal power of the president to the maximum (with the people). I will completely separate the authorities from the politics. No authorities can wield absolute power as I will bring up a system to hold each other in check. I will work humble. I will walk alongside the people.” <Power Korea> is looking forward to seeing more of his people friendly move and policy.
