삼성전자, 세계 최초로 극장 전용 LED ‘시네마 스크린’ 공개
삼성전자가 지난 27일(현지시간) 미국 라스베이거스에 위치한 씨네마크(Cinemark) 극장에서 세계 최초로 극장전용 LED 스크린인 ‘삼성 시네마 스크린’을 공개하는 시사회를 열었다. 삼성전자는 세계 최대 영화 산업 박람회인 ‘2017 씨네마콘(Cinemacon)’ 기간에 맞춰 영화 업계와 극장 관계자 등을 초대해 ‘삼성 시네마 스크린’을 시연해 많은 주목을 받았다. ‘삼성 시네마 스크린’은 기존 프로젝터 기반의 극장용 영사기의 밝기와 명암비 등의 한계를 극복한 극장 전용 LED 스크린이다. 

삼성전자는 이번 시사회에서 LED 캐비넷 96개를 활용한 445형(10.3 x 5.4m) 크기, 영화에 최적화된 4K(4096 x 2160) 해상도의 시네마 스크린을 선보였다. 이 제품은 LED 소자가 빛을 내 영상을 구현하는 방식으로는 세계 최초로 디지털 시네마 표준 규격인 DCI(Digital Cinema Initiatives)의 화질과 보안 기준을 만족하는 극장 상영 조건에 최적화된 영상 장비다. 특히 삼성전자는 오디오 분야의 절대 강자인 하만과 협업해 기존 극장에서 사용하던 스피커 설치 변경을 최소화하고 영화 사운드가 극장 내 골고루 퍼질 수 있도록 하는 사운드 튜닝 기술을 ‘삼성 시네마 스크린’에 탑재했다. 

삼성전자는 극장에 더 좋은 HDR 상영 환경을 구축하기 위해 주요 헐리우드 스튜디오와 공동연구를 진행해 왔으며 HDR 영화 콘텐츠 확보를 위한 협업도 지속적으로 강화하고 있다. 삼성전자 영상디스플레이사업부 김석기 전무는 “삼성의 디스플레이 기술력을 바탕으로 만든 ‘삼성 시네마 스크린’으로 극장 관객들에게 기존 프로젝터와는 차원이 다른 영상을 제공함으로써 영화 경험을 더욱 풍부하게 만들고 영화 산업의 지평을 넓혀 나갈 계획이다”라고 말했다. 삼성전자는 올해 하반기 중 한국과 미국에서 ‘삼성 시네마 스크린’ 영화관을 시범 운영할 예정이며 올해 말부터 글로벌 시장에 본격 출시할 계획이다.

삼성전자, 2017년형 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브 출시
삼성전자가 지난 28일 서울 논현동 쿤스트할레에서 ‘셰프컬렉션 익스피리언스 데이’를 개최하고 ‘풀메탈쿨링’으로 보다 완벽해진 ‘미세정온기술’과 보다 진화된 차세대 스마트 기능을 대거 탑재한 ‘2017년형 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브’를 소개했다. 삼성전자는 이날 행사에 제품 사용성에 관한 다양한 분야의 전문가들을 초청해 ‘셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브’의 혁신 기능 스토리를 소개했다.  

이날 행사는 단순히 ‘2017년형 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브’의 새로운 기능을 알리는 것을 넘어서 전문가들의 평가와 스토리 전달을 통해 ‘셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브’가 기존 냉장고 이상의 기능과 가치를 제공한다는 데 초점이 맞춰졌다. 이날 행사에는 삼성 ‘클럽 드 셰프 코리아’의 멤버인 임기학, 강민구 셰프가 ‘미세정온기술’과 ‘푸드 레시피’를 각각 소개했다. 

임기학 셰프는 “2017년형 셰프컬렉션 패밀리허브는 요리의 시작인 다양한 재료들을 최고의 신선도로 제공하고 숙성까지 가능하게 한다”며 “800여개의 다양한 요리 레시피를 제공하는 최고의 냉장고”라고 말했다. 또한 이날 행사에는 냉장고 정리 전문가인 강명진 주부가 ‘푸드 매니지먼트’를, 임유정 소통 전문 스피치 컨설턴트가 ‘패밀리 커뮤니케이션’에 대해 프레젠테이션을 진행했다. 

한편 이날 행사에는 ‘셰프컬렉션’의 입체적인 질감이 느껴지는 텍스처드 디자인(Textured Design)과 ‘패밀리허브’의 다양한 사용성을 아트로 연결시킨 신진 아티스트들의 콜라보레이션 작품이 전시됐다. 실제 해당 작품은 최근 주목받고 있는 허영만 화백의 딸 허보리 작가를 포함해 하루, 최현주 작가 등 총 3명의 역량 있는 아티스트들이 참여했다.

Samsung unveils world's first LED cinema screen
Samsung Electronics unveiled the world's first LED cinema screen at Cinemark in Las Vegas, US on 27 last month (local time). Samsung invited industry officials during '2017 Cinemacon', the biggest film industry expo of the world, for demonstration of the screen loaded with better brightness and contrast than the existing cinema screens. Samsung used 96 LED cabinets for the 445 type (10.3m x 5.4m) with 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution optimized for cinema screens. It introduced the world's first digital cinema standard DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) which the LED element creates lights to realize the images. As for the sound part, Samsung, in cooperation with Harman, loaded the sound tuning technology that minimizes the changes of the existing sound installation of cinemas but resonates the sound every corner of the cinema. Samusng has carried out joint research on building better HDR environment with major Hollywood studios and is actively pushing forward cooperation in securing HDR movie contents. The director of Samsung Electronics video image display division Kim Suk-ki said "The LED cinema screen will provide a new level of cinema experience both in image and sound." The test running is to be held at 'Samsung Cinema Screen' in Korea and the US and to be released in the global market by the end of the year.

Samsung releases 2017 Chef Collection Family Hub
Samsung held the chef collection experience day on 28 last month at KUNSTHALLE in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul to introduce 2017 Chef Collection Family Hub loaded with next generation smart functions. Samsung invited industry officials to emphasize the fact that it adds more functions and values to the existing refrigerators and to hear their opinions. Im Ki-hak and Kang Min-gu, the chefs of Club De Chef Korea, introduced the two functions of the hub 'fine fixed temperature technology' and 'food recipe' respectively on the day. Im said "2017 Chef Collection Family Hub provides a variety of ingredients with the freshest possible and it even ripens them. Also, it offers 800 recipes for convenience." A fridge arrangement specialist housewife Kang Myung-jin ran a food management coner while a communication speech consultant Im Yu-jung ran a family communication on the day with an additional 'textured design and a family hub collaboration' by a group of artists including Huh Bo-ri, Haru and Choi Hyun-ju for an additional fun.
