KOTRA, 세계 시장구조 개편 속 한국 업체 위한 행보 이어가
미국 실리콘밸리 게임전시회에 한국관 꾸려

산업통상자원부(장관 주형환)와 KOTRA(사장 김재홍)는 지난 2월 27일부터 3월 1일까지 미국의 게임 성지인 실리콘밸리에서 개최된 게임전시회 ‘게임커넥션아메리카 2017 (Game Connection America 2017, 이하 GCA)’에 한국관을 운영했다고 밝혔다.  

본 행사는 기획 단계부터 유관기관과 정부3.0 협업해 보다 체계적인 지원이 가능했다. KOTRA는 경기콘텐츠진흥원, 경기창조경제혁신센터와 함께 이노스파크, JSC게임즈, 비더블에스컴퍼니 등 국내 총 19개 우수 개발사를 선정하여 한국관을 구성했다.
EA, 블리자드(Blizzard) 등 미국과 유럽의 글로벌 퍼블리셔와 비즈니스 상담 기회를 마련해, 참가기업들은 총 4800만 달러(555억 원) 규모의 상담실적과 총 3600만 달러(416억 원) 규모의 계약추진실적을 거뒀다. 언어, 비용 등 높은 진입장벽이 있는 북미시장 진출에 실질적인 도움을 제공하고 우리기업 콘텐츠에 대한 긍정적인 현지 반응을 얻어 참가기업 만족도가 높았다.

마지막 날에는 GCA와 연계해 ‘게임개발자회의 2017 (Game Developer Conference 2017)’에도 참가했다. 세계최대 게임 컨퍼런스인 이 행사에서는 최근 포켓몬고 열풍으로 뚜렷해진 VR(가상현실), AR(증강현실)를 활용한 차세대 게임 트렌드를 조망할 수 있어 우리 기업에 미래 전략과 지침을 제공하였다.
한상곤 KOTRA 서비스산업실장은 “게임은 우리나라의 대표적인 킬러 콘텐츠”라면서, “게임 강국의 위상을 이어나가기 위해 KOTRA는 다양한 해외마케팅을 전개할 예정으로, 특히 VR, AR등 새로운 트렌드와 접목할 수 있도록 유명 컨퍼런스, 전시회와 연계한 마케팅 기회를 더 늘리겠다”라고 밝혔다.

G2 질서 속 수출해법 찾아 KOTRA 동남아대양주․일본지역 무역관장 머리 맞대
KOTRA(사장 김재홍)는 현지시간 지난달 4일 필리핀 마닐라에서 동남아대양주-일본지역 통합 무역투자확대전략회의를 개최했다. 이 자리에서 김재홍 사장은 아세안 진출 일본기업 공급망 진입을 예로 들며, 美 TPP(환태평양경제동반자협정) 탈퇴와 포스트차이나 물색 등 글로벌 구조조정 속에서 이 지역 기회요인에 주목해야 한다고 강조했다.
최근 4개월 연속 수출증가세에도 불구, 대내외 불확실성 확대로 향후 수출회복의 흐름이 만만치 않을 것이라는 전망이 높아지고 있다. 따라서 3년만의 수출플러스 전환과 무역 1조 달러 회복을 위해서는 1, 2위 시장인 중국과 미국 못지않게, 진출 잠재력이 높은 시장에서의 선전이 중요하다. 중국의 대체시장으로 부상하는 아세안과 제조업 해외생산이 계속 늘어나는 일본은 모두 합리적 개방국가로 신보호주의속에서 가장 먼저 눈여겨 봐야할 시장이다.

동남아대양주, 일본지역 무역관장 총 18명이 모인 이번 회의에서 KOTRA는 ▲ 아세안 소재 글로벌 기업 현지화 움직임 적극 공략  ▲ 한류 거점 마케팅 극대화로 소비재 진출 확대 ▲ FTA, RCEP 등 자유무역기조 최대 활용 등 3대 진출 전략을 제시했다.
김재홍 KOTRA 사장은 “플랫폼은 아이디어에서 출발한다”면서 “KOTRA는 국가 글로벌 비즈니스 플랫폼으로서 지역 간 융복합 사업 등 글로벌 기회요인을 바탕으로 한 수출확대 아이디어를 지속 발굴해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

KOTRA opens Korean Hall at GCA 
KOTRA and the Ministry of Trade Industry and Energy set up Korean Hall at Game Connection America 2017 held from 27 February to 1 March. In cooperation with Government 3.0, Gyeonggi Content Agency and Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center, KOTRA appointed 19 excellent game developers including INNSPARK, JSC Games and BSS Company to be linked to business consulting with EA and Blizzard. The participant companies drew a consulting result worth \55.5 billion and contracts worth \41.6 billion. The companies also participated in 'Game Developer Conference 2017' held on the last day of the event to review the current trend of VR and AR. The head of KOTRA's service industry department Han Sang-gon said "Game is one of the leading industries of Korea and KOTRA will keep pushing forward a variety of overseas marketing through global conferences and exhibitions with particular focus on VR and AR."

KOTRA seeks markets in South East Asia and Japan
KOTRA held an expansion strategic meeting for trade investment in South East Asia and Japan. KOTRA CEO Kim Jae-hong took the network of the Japanese companies entering the markets in the ASEAN as an example and pointed out the US quitting TPP and the post China as the current changes of economic map of the world. With low prospect on recovery of Korean export volumes despite its increase in 4 month in a row calls the need to pioneer markets other than the US and China in order to achieve the former glory of $1 trillion exports. And KOTRA sees markets in South East Asia and Japan as the initial targets to pioneer as the former functions an alternative to the Chinese market and the latter manufactures goods in overseas at an increasing volume. The 18 heads of KOTRA in the South East Asia and Japan regions have brought up suggestions on the meeting ▲ responding actively to the movement of local companies ▲ maximizing marketing around the K-Wave spots ▲ making the most use of FTA and RCEP. KOTRA CEO Kim Jae-hong said "The platform starts at ideas and we will use them to connect Korean businesses to global companies."
