현대차, 4월에 전기차 중심 카셰어링 서비스 선보여
현대자동차㈜는 강남구 영동대로에 위치한 국내영업본부 사옥에서 현대자동차 고객가치담당 장재훈 전무와 현대캐피탈 Auto사업본부장 이병휘 상무 등 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 ‘전기차 중심의 카셰어링 업무 협업을 위한 양해각서(MOU)’를 체결했다고 지난 달 21일 밝혔다. 카셰어링은 공유경제의 대표적인 모델로 사용자가 차량 유지비용이나 보험료 등에 대한 부담 없이 차를 사지 않아도 필요할 때만 쓸 수 있기 때문에 최근 젊은 층을 중심으로 인기가 높다. 현대자동차와 현대캐피탈이 선보일 카셰어링 서비스는 고객 편의를 극대화한 것이 가장 큰 특징이다. 양사는 원하는 차량을 필요한 시간만큼만 사용하는 기존의 카셰어링 서비스에 더해, 차량 인도 및 반납 장소를 고객이 원하는 곳으로 지정할 수 있는 혁신적인 ‘온디맨드(on-demand)형 카셰어링 서비스’를 제공함으로써 고객 편의를 극대화한다. 전기차 중심의 카셰어링 서비스를 통해 전기차에 대한 고객 경험을 넓히고 또한 장기적 관점에서 전기차 등 친환경차 보급 확대에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 현대자동차는 판단하고 있다. 현대자동차와 현대캐피탈은 오는 4월 정식으로 전기차 중심의 카셰어링 서비스를 론칭할 계획이며 서비스 지역과 규모는 추후 결정될 예정이다. 현대자동차 고객가치담당 장재훈 전무는 “현대자동차가 현대캐피탈과 함께 전기차를 중심으로 한 카셰어링 서비스에 본격 진출함으로써 전기차 등 친환경차 시장의 저변 확대에 기여하게 될 것이다”며 “앞으로도 고객에게 최고의 가치를 제공할 수 있도록 카셰어링과 연계한 다양한 서비스를 개발해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다. 

현대차그룹, 자율주행차 개발 전담 ‘지능형안전기술센터’ 신설
현대차그룹이 미래 자동차의 핵심 영역인 자율주행차 연구개발을 전담하는 ‘지능형안전기술센터’를 신설하고 최고 전문가를 영입하는 등 모빌리티 혁신을 주도한다. 현대차그룹은 인공지능 기반 자율주행 핵심 기술 우위 확보는 물론 전세계 공통적으로 적용 가능한 자율 주행 플랫폼을 개발, 글로벌 표준화를 선도하겠다는 구상이다. 현대차그룹의 이 같은 행보는 글로벌 완성차 업체들과 ICT 기업들 간의 경쟁구도가 치열한 자율주행 분야에서 게임 체인저가 되겠다는 복안으로 해석된다. 동시에 자율주행 기술 개발을 넘어 고객에게 이동의 완벽한 자유로움을 통한 보다 나은 삶이라는 가치를 제공하겠다는 차원이다. 현대·기아차는 연구개발본부 내 자율주행 개발 조직과 인력을 하나로 통합, 확대한 ‘지능형안전기술센터’를 신설한다고 지난달 13일 밝혔다. 특히 전세계 어느 도로에서도 적용이 가능한 자율주행 플랫폼 개발도 적극 추진하는 등 미래 자율주행차 개발 주도권 선점 노력을 가속화한다는 방침이다. 현대차그룹은 미국 GM에서 자율주행차 선행 및 양산화 개발을 초기부터 주도했던 이진우 박사를 ‘지능형안전기술센터장’ 상무로 영입한다. 이진우 상무는 전 세계 자율주행 기술 분야에서 최고의 실력을 인정받고 있는 전문가로 평가된다. 2006년 이후에는 GM의 자율주행차 개발을 담당해 왔다. 현대·기아차는 자율주행 개념 태동기부터 15년 이상 자율주행 개발 분야 글로벌 전문가로서 핵심역량을 축적한 이진우 상무가 자율주행 기술의 방향성 정립과 고도화 전략을 적극 추진할 것으로 기대하고 있다. 이진우 상무는 “단순 자율주행차 개발을 넘어서 전세계에서 공통적으로 적용이 가능한 자율주행 플랫폼을 개발함으로써 글로벌 자율주행 기술 표준화에 현대·기아차가 주도적인 역할을 수행하도록 노력할 것이다”고 말했다.

Hyundai signs a MOU
Hyundai announced on 21 last month that the company signed a MOU for cooperation in electric car sharing. Car sharing is one of the most famous sharing economies and it is widely spreading among young drivers as they can save on maintenance and insurance. Hyundai Motor and Hyundai Capital has maximized convenience in its car sharing services to give a differentiation which is a driver can appoint the place of their returning back the car called ‘on-demand car sharing’. Hyundai Motor is predicting that the services will contribute to spreading of electric vehicles to more drivers when officially launched in April this year. The director of Hyundai Motor’s Customer Value Team Jang Jae-hoon said “The MOU will make Hyundai Motor to take a great part in spreading electric cars in Korea and we will keep introducing more innovative eco-friendly services in connection with electric car sharing services.”

Hyundai opens ‘Artificial Intelligence Safety Technology Center’
Hyundai opened ‘Artificial Intelligence Safety Technology Center’ to push forward its manless vehicle research and development. The center invites top industry specialists to realize mobile innovation. The Korean car giant is ambitious to develop globally compatible artificial intelligence manless vehicle technology and its platform to lead the global standard with added value of providing drivers freedom of moving around with more convenience. The company announced on 13 last month that it integrated excellent manpower and departments into one ‘Artificial Intelligence Safety Technology Center’ with doctor Lee Jin-woo, who has led manless vehicle development at GM, US for many years, as the director of the center. Lee is known to be one of the best among manless vehicle specialists in the world and has worked for GM since 2006 with his 15 years of experience in the field. Lee said “I’m targeting the development of a global manless vehicle standard over just development of manless cars and make Hyundai and Kia Motors as leaders of the field.”
