Global market is becoming a one single market due to development of transportation technologies and changes in industrial structure. Local businesses face global level competition and the importance of differentiation and innovation are ever increasing for survival. Established in 2006 as a automatic control valve specialist, KOPECS has produced valves that are needed in the field of iron making, power generation, gas and oil, petrochemistry, environment and water treatment. With its rich experience and advanced technologies, KOPECS succeeded localization of automatic control valve formerly imported from the US, Germany and Japan and has secured its global status in the field. CEO An Hyo-deuk said "I worked in the sales department of a valve company in the 70s and saw the potential of the industry. Automatic control valves back then were only imported and it took a long time to fix and resume the production once it gets broken." An pushed forward R&D and investment in localization of the valves and developed one that can endure the temperature of 850¡É. 10 years after the development today, the quality, manufacturing infrastructure, reference, specification and approval of KOPECS well meet the international standard. "I think our success ascribes to our thorough understanding about the process and mechanism and to our focus on development of new products. If we pursued a fast profit only, we wouldn't have been where we are today" said An. KOPECS has secured a number of original technologies and patents and 80% of the sales today are made overseas market. In 2015, KOPECS achieved '1 Million Dollar Export Tower'.

Unrivaled technologies knocks on Iranian market
KOPECS' success in the global market is not only its own but a pride of Korea. The company signed a MoA with FAPCO, a state-owned company of Iran, on 23 December 2016. Since lifting the economic sanction on the country, Iran is called as 'oasis of global economy' and the capitals in the world seems to be pouring into the market. In this situation, the signing of KOPECS with the Iranian company is praised for securing global status of Korean companies and for creating a new growth model. In fact, KOPECS previously drew a contract from a state-owned Iranian company NIOC(POGC)/OIEC for supplying high functional automatic control valves. The contract this time includes transfer of technology, training and localization at the first phase of 2 million dollars out of the five phases of 10 million as well as supply of control valves in the method of SKD (Semi Knock Down) & CKD (Completely Knock Down) worth 50 million dollars for 3 years. "The contract was supported by Korea Western Power and we take this as an opportunity to raise brand value of Korean products and to pioneer the way for potential Korean companies. Jumping into new market however is not an easy business as it often involve many risks. This is the point where differentiation and innovation in one's own field play the pivotal role to make a success."

Walking together, growing together
It has always been An's philosophy since he started his own business: 'walking together, growing together'. "A company's competitiveness at the end of the day comes from the people working together and their passion in pursuing innovative technologies. I think there are many talented people in the job market in Korea but lack of public recognition on SMEs makes it hard to find them. This is the reason we run a special human resource and training team" said An. All employees of KOPECS must participate in one hour basic training a day. An himself stand on the platform, as well as executive staff, to give training and employees are also provided an opportunity to participate in international fairs to level up their eye to read global trend. Executive director of KOPECS Jo Gye-moon said "It's a great encouragement for both executive staff and employees that CEO An himself gives training. It makes us feel some ownership of the company and also motivates us to work together to grow together."
