Continuous R&D for better future

'Embedded system' as a core technology for 4th Industrial Revolution

The advent of IoT is leading us to a totally new experience of digital life. The 'things' exchanges and interact through data to make us life more convenient and increases productivity and efficiency in manufacturing and marketing. Among many IoT related technologies, 'Embedded System' is known to play the pivotal role by providing innovative user-experiences. Incheon National University Embedded System Engineering Prof. Hwang Gwang-il is widely recognized as a respected authority in the field for having provided his exertion and achievement in theory, research, development and commercialization for many years. Hwang said "Systematic R&D and its commercialization are most important elements in the field. Through this, Korean companies can secure global competitiveness." Hwang's continuous zeal in the field has made him introduce new technologies and services every year through co-researches with industry specialists. He developed 'Ultra Low Power Near Real Time Two Way Remote Water Read Network' in cooperation with Leotek and the network is being run on Yeongjong Island as Smart Water Grid Project at the moment. 'IoT-based Real Time Indoor Air Quality Analysis System' also is attracting a great attention from both home and abroad while researches on 'User Pattern Analysis-based Real Time Dew Condensation Detection and Prediction', 'IoT-based Factory Facilities Diagnosis System Development' and 'Image Recognition-based Integrated Meter Read System & Infrastructure' are ongoing. 

Never stop challenging!
Hwang currently is serving as an advisor for Small and Medium Business Administration Incheon and an advisory professor at Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Smart Device Mini Cluster through which he is exerting his effort in transferring his patented technologies to related industries. Meanwhile, Hwang has published more than 10 theses a year on academic journals home and abroad and holds invitational lectures on a regular basis. In recognition of his achievements, he received Excellent Academic Research Award from Incheon National University in 2012 and 2015 and won the best academic thesis with 'Design and Realization of Real Time Plug & Play Operable CAN Communication System' at the 2015 Autumn Annual Conference held by Korea Information Processing Society. He also is serving as the deputy editor of Journal of Information Processing Systems. "The most important thing as a developer I think is to never stop challenging" asserted Hwang.
