레코벨의 박성혁 대표는 카이스트 박사학위 후 뉴욕대 박사연수 중 전자책 기술자문으로 일하는 과정에서 수학적 개인화 추천시스템 알고리즘의 마케팅 활용 능력을 깨닫고 창업하게 된다.

또한 기존의 홈페이지는 기본 설정 값을 그대로 보여주지만, 웹크롤러, 웹봇을 개발해 많은 데이터를 수집하고 모은 정보를 통해 세부 카테고리 별로 실적을 파악할 수 있으며 고객 선호도가 높은 정보 위주로 보여줄 수 있다.

박 대표는 고객이 홈페이지에 들어오면 오프라인 매장에서 큐레이션을 하듯 추천한다. 예를 들면 기저귀는 45일, 생수는 3주, 화장품은 3달마다 꾸준히 평균 수요가 있는데, XL사이즈 기저귀를 구입하는 고객에게 몇 달 뒤 XXL사이즈 기저귀를 권하거나, 화장품의 경우는 자주 사용하는 제품을 사은품으로 넣어 고객의 호응을 얻는다는 것이다.

박 대표는 IOT시대가 개막하면서, 선택설계와 그것을 선택할 고객의 자유의지를 이어주는 빅데이터의 접근 방식도 달라져야 한다고 전한다. 또한 온라인에서 100명이 홈페이지에 방문하면 평균 3-4명이 구매하고, 자주 플랫폼이 바뀌는 것에 대응하기 위해 단순한 빅데이터 솔루션에 머물지 않고 앱 구축과 푸시마케팅 자동화 서비스, 리타게팅 광고 분야에도 진출했다고 밝혔다.

새로운 IOT시대를 대비하기 위해 꾸준히 기술력에 시동을 걸 것이라는 박 대표의 궁극적인 목표는 글로벌 소프트웨어 기업이다. 일본 진출 과정에서 일본 1위 기업과 겨뤄 PC, 모바일 테스트를 모두 이기고 글로벌 표준화를 위한 국내 영업권을 가져오기도 한 박 대표는 동남아 시장 진출은 물론, 탄탄한 기술 혁신 및 해외 현지화를 이루겠다는 각오를 밝혔다.

RecoBell is an IT Ad-tech and marketing solutions company. Park recently has secured a business tie-up with a social feedback service provider and developed 'Live Contents' that gathers data of 200 newspapers to provide customized news services. It has been proven to increase the number of clicks and the time of staying. Live Contents functions like a curator for each customer and recommends products according to their need. A shopper who bought a XL sized diaper, for example, is recommended a XXL size after a few month or a shopper who bought cosmetics are encouraged with additional gifts. Meanwhile, Park is working on introducing new apps, push-marketing automation services and re-targeting commercials for ever changing sales platforms with his ambition to grow RecoBell as a global software firm. Park once beat the No.1 Japanese company at a PC and mobile test and secured business rights in the Korean soil for global standardization.
