박정옥 대표는 “저희는 친환경 약품을 사용함으로써 고객들의 건강은 물론 환경오염 문제까지도 고려하고 있으며, 현대식 기계와 청소 장비를 사용해 보다 효율적이고 전문적인 환경미화 서비스를 제공하고 있습니다. 또한 비영리 사업체로 운영되고 있기 때문에 타 업체 대비 비용이 저렴하고, 직원 모두가 주인이라는 생각으로 업무에 임하고 있어 서비스의 질이 남다르다고 자부합니다”라고 밝혔다. 특히 백화점이나 할인점, 쇼핑센터, 병원, 은행, 주상복합아파트, 학교 및 연구단지 등 다양한 건물들의 내외장재 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 관리를 위해 각 재질에 맞는 재료와 약품 장비를 사용하고 있으며, 우수한 기술력을 바탕으로 건물의 수명 연장과 경제적 가치를 높이는 데 일조하고 있다.

“지역사회에 공헌하는 사회적 기업의 역할 다할 것”

청소하는마을은 2011년 대구시 예비사회적기업에 이어 2012년 4월에는 고용노동부의 사회적기업 인증을 획득하고, 취약계층에 대한 일자리 제공과 사회서비스 지원을 통해 사회적 가치를 실현하는 데에도 힘써왔다. 2004년 조합원들의 지지를 통해 선출된 박정옥 대표는 지금까지 12년간 청소하는마을을 이끌며 성장을 견인해왔다. 수성구자활기업으로 출발한 청소하는마을은 현재 직원 48명에 연매출 8억 원에 이르는 건실한 기업의 모습을 갖추고 있으며, 대구도시철도공사와 대구오페라하우스, 대구시청 등 대구지역에 위치한 각종 공공기관과 학교, 기업 등 30여 개의 고객층도 확보하고 있다.

박정옥 대표는 10여 년 전만 하더라도 6급 청각장애인에 기초생활수급자로서 힘겨운 삶을 살아가고 있었다. 하루 밥값을 걱정해야하는 궁핍함에 식당을 다니며 일을 찾았지만, 장애 탓에 오래가지 못하고 해고되는 경우가 태반이었다고 한다. 그러던 와중 우연히 주민센터 청소를 맡게 되었고, 성실함을 눈여겨본 동장의 도움으로 청소사업단에 참여하면서 지금에 이르게 되었다고 한다.

그는 “어려웠던 시기에 많은 분들의 도움이 없었다면 어떻게 지금의 제가 있을 수 있을지를 항상 기억하고 초심을 지키려 합니다. 회사의 성장만큼이나 저희들의 활동이 많은 분들에게 안정된 일자리와 따뜻한 손길로 전해지길 바라는 마음입니다”라고 말했다. 매월 50만 원을 어려운 이웃들을 위해 기탁하고 있다는 청소하는마을은 지난 2014년 전국자활기업대회에서 우수상을 수상한 바 있으며, 지난 5월에는 자활사업 발전과 일자리 창출에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 수성구청장 표창도 수상했다.

박 대표는 “현재 청소하는마을은 독립된 기업으로서의 역할을 수행하고자 변화의 시기를 맞이하고 있습니다. 저희들은 여성과 노인, 장애인 등 취약계층이 하고 싶은 일을 마음껏 할 수 있도록 기회를 제공하는 기업, 정당한 근로복지 환경과 자립에 대한 희망을 주는 롤 모델이 되고자 합니다. 모두가 행복한 회사, 모두가 행복한 사회를 만들어가려는 저희들의 노력에 많은 관심과 응원을 부탁드립니다”라고 말했다. 기업 본연의 역할을 수행함과 동시에 지역사회의 건강한 발전과 삶의 질 향상에 노력하고 있는 이들의 열정이 앞으로 어떠한 성과를 보여줄지 그 귀추가 주목된다.

CEO Park, Jong-Ok of Cleantown Corporation explained, “We are considering customer’s health including environmental pollution by using eco-friendly chemicals and providing professional and efficient cleaning services with an up-to-date machine and equipment. Also, as our company is running with nonprofit, the cost is reasonable. We think we are owners so I can tell you the pride of the quality of service is differentiated.”

Especially, they use a proper materials and chemicals for the customized management in terms of what kind of places such as department store, discount store, shopping center, hospital, bank, apartment complex, school and institute. Based with excellent technique, they make the buildings valuable and longer.

Doing a part as a social company contributing for the local
‘Cleantown Corporation’ gained a certificate of social enterprise from Ministry of Employment and Labor in April 2012 after reserve social enterprise in Daegu in 2011. CEO Park, Jong-Ok was selected as CEO out of support of union members in 2004 and since then, she has run ‘Cleantown Corporation’ and grown the company for 12 years. ‘Cleantown Corporation’ started as the self-support company in Soosung-gu but now they are making a profit of 800 million won per year with 48 employees to be a sound company. For their customers, there are about 30, for example, Daegu Express Transit Corporation, Daegu Opera House, Daegu City Hall, public organizations, school, and company. CEO Park, Jong-Ok was living hard as a recipient of basic living and her 6-graded deaf difficulty just 10 years ago. She was worried about everyday’s life and worked as a dishwasher at the restaurants but couldn’t keep it long because of her difficulty. In that meantime, she got a job in the local community center by accident and the head of that local office watched her carefully since she was working with earnest. He thought highly of it and helped her join a youth business. It was the beginning.

She said, “I cannot be here without helps from people when I was suffering from living and try to remember that time with my first intention. I hope our business can ensure many more people believe there are settled job and hearty mind as much as company’s growth.”

‘Cleantown Corporation’ is making a donation of 500 thousand won every month and they received the silver prize at National Self-Supporting Company Competition’ in 2014. Last May, they awarded official commendation from the head of Soosung gu office for their contribution self-supporting business development and job creation.

CEO Park, Jong-Ok mentioned, “Currently, ‘Cleantown Corporation’ is an independent enterprise to take a part and having a change as well. We want to be a role model and would like to give an opportunity to work for like a vulnerable social group like female, silver generation and the disabled and they feel hopeful for being independent and have a right working condition. I ask for more concern and encouragement for an effort that we try to make our employees happy and make the happy society.”
