MOGEF holds 2016 Young Women Mentoring Activity Report
The MOGEF (Ministry of Gender Equality and Family) held 2016 Young Women Mentoring Activity Report on 23 last month at Ferrum Tower, Seoul. The ministry invited mentors of the ‘Young Women Mentoring Project’ to the report and awarded prizes to excellent performers. The invited also gave presentations on the day. The project this year recruited participants last June and the launching ceremony was held the next month. 20 mentors and 200 young women including students formed each group of 10 people and carried out various programs such as field trip, work experience, career consulting and contests for 5 months. A participant Byeon Na-young of AIA Life said “Useful advice of mentors as well as meeting with women in my same age broadened my mental vision.” Ann Seung-min who received a mentoring from a director of Samsung Securities said “I experienced writing a log of ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund) and found myself suitable for PB (Private Banker).” The hosting body screened 20 teams on royalty, diligence and management capacity and awarded the grand prize to ‘B.O.M Team’ (Best Of Me, mentor: Lee Kang-ran), the first prize to ‘Socially Proud Financier Team’ (mentor: Park Gyeong-hee), the runner up prize to ‘Fitting Room Team’ (mentor: Lee Ji-hyang). All three teams also received the ministerial prize from the ministry. The grand prize team received the highest scores for demonstration of finding one’s strength. The minister Kang Eun-hee said “I hope the project will help young women find their talent and strength from which they can make their dream come true. The ministry will keep providing active career support for young women.”

MOGEF picks up 22 excellent cases of youth support
The MOGEF (Ministry of Gender Equality and Family) announced that they chose 22 excellent cases of youth support among the youths using the Out Of School Youth Support Center. From January to October this year, 48,000 out of school youths have been given consulting, study and career support from the Dream Giving Center. It is a 57% increase on last year (31,026) and total of 33,718 youths received support last year. 7,700 youths have returned to school by passing the school qualification exam through the Dream Giving Center this year and 5,400 youths obtained vocational qualifications and 12,000 youths (26%) became capable of being independent as a result. On the occasion of Act on Support of Out of School Youths’ enacted from May 2015, the ministry has pushed forward support in full scale and opened 202 Dream Giving Centers nationwide. The center provides study plans for both basics and university preparation level alongside the consulting on one’s talent, aptitude and career path. On completing the course, the center connects the youths to vocational training. The ministry’s youth policy head Hwang Jin-gu said “This year is the third year since the support policy came into force and we will keep doing our best like we always did to provide the best support programs available.”
