현대차, 수소전기차 활용 택시 및 카셰어링 시범사업 MOU
현대자동차가 수소연료전지전기차를 활용한 택시 및 카셰어링 시범사업을 국내에서 처음 실시한다. 미세먼지를 비롯한 오염물질 배출이 전혀 없는 차세대 친환경 이동 수단인 수소전기차를 일반인들이 손쉽게 경험할 수 있도록 저변을 보다 확대하고, 수소전기차의 대중화 접목을 시도하는 차원이다. 대중교통 수단으로 운행 빈도가 높은 ‘택시’, 그리고 최근 이용자가 늘고 있는 공유경제 서비스 ‘카셰어링’에 공해가 없고 안전한 ‘수소전기차’를 결합했다는 점에서 고객들의 접근성과 인지도가 크게 향상될 것으로 기대된다. 일단 수소충전소가 갖춰진 지역을 중심으로 시범사업이 확대될 예정이지만, 향후 충전 인프라가 늘어나고 차세대 수소 전용차가 나올 경우 수소전기차 기반 택시 및 카셰어링 서비스는 더욱 탄력을 받을 전망이다. 현대차 정진행 사장은 “국민들이 더 가까이서 수소전기차의 친환경성과 안전성을 체감할 수 있길 기대한다”며 “현대차는 수소전기차 및 수소버스 대중화를 위해 기술 개발을 적극 수행하고, 신산업으로서 수소전기차 수출산업화를 이루는 데 앞장설 계획”이라고 강조했다. 카셰어링은 자원을 효율적으로 활용하는 공유경제의 대표적인 분야로 고객들은 유지비용이나 보험료 등에 대한 부담 없이 사용료만 내면 된다. 큰돈을 들여 차를 사지 않아도 필요할 때만 쓸 수 있기 때문에 최근 젊은 층을 중심으로 인기가 높다. 현대차는 궁극의 친환경 차량인 수소전기차를 기반으로 한 미래 이동 서비스 모델을 보다 적극적으로 발굴할 것이라며 글로벌 수소전기차 시장에서의 기술 리더십도 지속적으로 강화해 나갈 계획이라고 밝혔다. 

현대 모터스튜디오 서울 ‘변화하는 빛의 세계’ 전시
현대자동차의 브랜드 체험관 ‘현대 모터스튜디오 서울’이 빛을 이용해 무지개를 표현한 캐나다 작가 그룹 ‘라이트 소사이어티(Light Society)’의 작품 ‘변화하는 빛의 세계(Altered States of Light)’로 1층 전시공간을 새 단장했다. 9월 27일부터 내년 1월 31일까지 ‘현대 모터스튜디오 서울’에서 전시하는 새 작품 <변화하는 빛의 세계>는 대형 프리즘, 홀로그램 필름, 거울, 미디어 월 등을 활용한 예술 작품으로, 관람객에게 무지개 속에 있는 듯한 특별한 시각적 경험을 제공한다. 본 작품의 작가인 사킨 베세트(Sakchin Bessette)와 알리야 오르(Aliya Orr)는 캐나다 몬트리올을 기반으로 다양한 작업을 진행하는 작가 그룹 ‘라이트 소사이어티’ 소속으로, 2010년부터 함께 작업하며 빛을 매개로 한 보이지 않는 실체를 조각, 설치, 사진 등 폭넓은 영역의 전시로 풀어낼 수 있는 다양한 방법을 연구해 왔으며 이번 작품 역시 빛, 공간 그리고 인간의 인식 변화가 접목된 실험적인 예술 작품이다. 사킨 베세트는 “인간에게 이상향을 의미하는 무지개를 신의 메시지로 해석해 활용했다”라며 “기술적 장치를 통해 천상의 무지개를 현실 공간인 ‘현대 모터스튜디오 서울’에 가득 채움으로써 관람객들에게 현대자동차가 추구하는 일상 속 특별한 가치인 ‘모던 프리미엄’한 경험을 전하고자 했다”라고 제작 의도를 밝혔다. 현대자동차는 이번 전시의 시작을 기념하고자, 지난 27일 ‘현대 모터스튜디오 서울’에서 문화계 인사들과 문화예술 전문기자 등이 참석한 가운데 ‘라이트 소사이어티 작품 오프닝 행사’를 개최했다. ‘현대 모터스튜디오 서울’은 세계적 아티스트들이 현대자동차의 브랜드 방향성 ‘모던 프리미엄’에서 영감을 얻어 제작한 예술 작품을 전시함으로써, 방문객들에게 브랜드와 자동차에 대한 예술적이고 직관적 경험을 제공해 왔다. 

Hyundai Motor launches hydrogen and electric powered car sharing project 
Hyundai launches a demonstration project for hydrogen and electric powered car sharing for the first time in Korea. The project is to popularize the eco-friendly cars in Korea by taking the advantage of the recent ‘sharing economy’ trend and greater numbers of taxi users. Starting from the regions which facilitated hydrogen energy stations, the project is expected to increase the number of eco-friendly vehicles as the number of stations are also increasing. Director Jung Jin-hang of Hyundai Motor said “We hope the project will give an opportunity for people to experience the vehicles’ eco-friendliness and safety. We will lead the spreading of these eco-friendly cars not only in Korea but to the world.” The recent ‘car sharing’ trend is very effective as you do not need a lump sum to buy a car or pay maintenance or insurance but only the fees to use time to time. This car sharing service is especially popular among young people. Hyundai Motor said “Hydrogen and electric powered vehicles are the ultimate eco-friendly means of transport in the future and we will actively introduce related models.”

Hyundai invites ‘Light Society’
Hyundai Motor Studio Seoul invited Light Society, a Canadian light-inspired rainbow artist group, to display its work ‘Altered States of Light’ in the studio. The exhibition opened on 27 last month and lasts until 31 January next year. The work used large prism, hologram film, mirrors and media walls and gives viewers a visual experience as if they are in a rainbow. Sakchin Bessette and Aliya Orr of the society have worked together since 2010 and studied various methods to realize invisible nature into sculpture, installation and photographs through the light. This time, they combined the light, space and change of human conception for Altered States of Light. Bessette explained “I interpreted rainbow as a message of god. And I used the heavenly rainbow to deliver ‘modern premium’, a special value in daily life, which is a pursuit of Hyundai Motor, for the exhibition.” Hyundai also invited renowned figures in the cultural circle to the launching ceremony of the exhibition on 27 last month. Hyundai Motor Studio Seoul regularly holds exhibitions that can realize its brand motto ‘modern premium’ with their artistic works.
