CEO Choi Ho-sig of Hosigi Chicken
Hosigi Chicken opens the monumental 1,000th branch restaurant
Hosigi Chicken in Seoul Tower wows visitors home and abroad

On 18th last month, the ceremony that celebrates the monumental 1,000th Hosigi Chicken, the originator of two whole chicken trend, was held at Babfor Movement Headquarters in Cheongryang-ri, Seoul. The chicken franchise broke through the 700th restaurant in November 2013 and CEO Choi donated 700 bags of rice to Bafor Movement Headquarters (charity organization) to mark the achievement which soon was followed by opening the 800th in October 2014 and the 900th in October 2015. Choi’s great success in business as well as volunteer activities has set a good food franchise model for many to follow suit. Korea’s top bilingual magazine <Power Korea> met Choi and heard about the story.

Choi donates 1,000 bags of rice to Babfor Movement Headquarters
“Sharing what we have and growing together is the key to make a better society”
It was not only the unprecedented scorching hot weather that made the people in the peninsula sleepless this summer but the Olympic Games Rio 2016 as we are in the difference time zone. Chicken, if you are Korean, is undoubtedly is the most popular late-night snack in Korea and we cannot resist the temptation to have a good beer and chicken especially when watching a sports match. From fried to spicy sauce seasoned, Koreans’ love of chicken proved crazy by consuming 8 billion chickens last year alone with over 300 difference chicken franchises nationwide competing each other.

In this respect, Hosigi Chicken’s opening the 1,000th branch is but a landmark achievement in the field. As he has done 4 times already, CEO Choi and his staff visited Babfor Movement Headquarters on 18th last month to donate 1,000 bags of rice for those who still skip a meal or two in this day and age. They rolled up their sleeves and stood alongside pastor Choi Il-do, the president of DAIL Community, the running body of Babfor Movement, to serve free meals. “It is our mutual belief that ‘Sharing what we have and growing together is the key to make a better society’ and our will to keep carrying on this good deed will never be changed or stopped” said Choi.

Hosigi Chicken’s donation, however, is happening in more places than in Cheongryang-ri, Seoul. Choi, with 500 volunteers participated in the 2nd Bab Peacemaker held at the DMZ Dora Mountain Peace Park on 12th the same month to cook and give out Hogisi Chicken. They also served free chicken and Coke to 250 socially neglected neighbors at Seoul Women Care Center in Gangnam District last April and donated chicken for 200 soldiers of the Backma (white horse) 7253 Corps in Paju City last February.

1,000th restaurant in Seoul Tower wows visitors home and abroad
Family and kinsman-run business builds trust

It is notable that CEO Choi opened the monumental 1,000th restaurant in Seoul Tower, the landmark of the city. Hosigi Chicken’s already proven unique sauces and 100% Korean ‘harim (chicken manufacturer)’ chicken are expected to wows especially the foreign visitors.

Also, one of the factors that made the business prosper comes from the fact that more than 1/3 (340) of the branches are run by family members or their relatives which has contributed to building trust between member stores. The Korea Record Institute actually reported that Hosigi Chicken is the No.1 in number of family members and relatives involved in the business.

It is not surprising that all employees and branch owners of Hosigi Chicken closely work together under the business slogan ‘Best Quality, Best Customer Services and Best Partnership Policy’ and it certainly puts the company stands out among many competitors in the field.

Expanding overseas market
Winning 2016 Best Brand Awards

Meanwhile, Hosigi Chicken opened HOSIGI TOWER in Gangnam District June last year to manage the branches in the capital area. The 3 regional business headquarters and 8 local offices, on the other hand, are taking care of managing and expanding local branches. With the success in the domestic market as a spring board, CEO Choi opened the first overseas branch restaurant in Shinjuku, Tokyo in November last year and is currently planning to open the second and the third restaurants in Japan this September.

In recognition of its contribution to promoting chicken industry, Hosigi Chicken received the 2016 Best Brand Awards. Hosigi Chicken also was appointed as an excellent franchise in December last year for three years in a row by the Small and Medium Business Administration and won the Korea Consumer Preference 1st Brand Award for two years in a row. “The two biggest advantages of Hosigi Chicken are that people from all ages can enjoy it according to their taste bud as well as our efficient delivery system” says Choi. <Power Korea> sends a round of applause to Choi and Hosigi Chicken and hopes the business will make a further success.
