여성가족부, 아시아 청소년 초청연수 개최
여성가족부 강은희 장관이 지난 달 2일부터 16일까지 아시아 23개국 200여명의 청소년이 참여하는 ‘2016년 아시아 청소년 초청연수’를 개최했다. 아시아 청소년 초청연수는 2006년부터 매년 아시아 청소년들의 한국 사회․문화체험을 통해 한국에 대한 이해를 높이고, 청소년들 간의 이해와 협력을 증진시키기 위해 기획된 국제교류 프로그램이다. 참가 청소년들은 아시아 각국 현지 대사관 및 한국청소년단체협의회 해외협력기관을 통해 모집·선발됐다. 

이번 연수기간 동안 아시아 청소년들은 ‘세계 문화의 중심, 아시아 청소년’(Center of World Culture, Asian Youth)이라는 주제 아래, 한국 및 아시아 문화를 이해하고 아시아의 미래 가치를 공유하기 위한 다양한 활동을 펼쳤다. 이번 연수프로그램은 아시아 청소년 문화토의, 아시아 문화 교류, 서울․경주․제주 등 지역 방문 및 체험 등으로 구성되었다. 아시아 청소년 문화토의에서는 ‘아시아 문화의 세계화’를 주제로 참가자들이 각국 문화에 대해 소개하고 아시아의 문화가 세계 속으로 뻗어나갈 방안에 대해서 함께 고민하는 시간도 가졌다. 또한 지역방문 및 체험프로그램에서는 유네스코 세계문화유산으로 지정된 경주 역사지구를 탐방하며 고대문화의 우수성과 예술성을 체험하고, 제주 올레길을 걸으며 세계 7대 자연경관으로 뽑힌 제주도의 수려한 자연경관을 둘러보았다. 강은희 여성가족부 장관은 “오늘날 국제사회에서 아시아의 중요성과 위상은 그 어느 때보다 높고, 아시아 청소년들에게는 발전과 도약의 기회가 무궁무진하다”고 강조하고, “차세대 아시아 리더인 청소년 여러분이 이번 기회를 통해 아시아의 가치와 문화를 재발견하고, 문화적 다양성을 이해하는 성숙한 글로벌 시민으로 한층 더 성장하길 바란다”고 밝혔다. 

여가부, ‘多재다능’ 다문화가족 자녀들의 성장 지원
여성가족부는 다문화가족 자녀들이 건강하고 다재다능한 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 국민체육진흥공단, 창업진흥원, 한국기원, 한국잡월드 등 4개 기관과 협력해 다양한 프로그램을 실시한다. 여성가족부와 4개 기관은 대회의실에서 강은희 장관과 이창섭 국민체육진흥공단이사장, 강시우 창업진흥원장, 박치문 한국기원 부총재, 장대익 한국잡월드 이사장 등이 참석한 가운데 ‘다문화가족 자녀성장 지원을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다. 이번 협약은 여성가족부가 다문화가족 자녀 지원 강화를 위해 올 들어 새로 시작한 ‘다재다능 사업’ 취지에 4개 기관이 공감하고 적극적인 협력의사를 밝히며 마련됐으며, 향후 사업 활성화와 우수사례 확산 등을 위해 함께 협력하게 된다. 국민체육진흥공단은 다문화가족 자녀인 초등학교 고학년·중학생들을 대상으로 레포츠를 통한 리더십 및 사회성 향상 기회를 제공하는 ‘레포츠 캠프’를 개최하고, 한국기원은 가족 전체를 대상으로 바둑 입문 교육을 통해 부모·자녀 관계 향상을 도모한다. 정부는 다문화가족의 국내 정착기간 장기화로 학령기 다문화가족 자녀들이 빠르게 증가함에 따라, 지난 3월 ‘다문화가족 자녀 지원 종합대책’을 마련하고 이들을 위한 성장주기별 지원 정책을 강화하고 있다. 특히, 여성가족부는 올해부터 학령기 다문화가족 자녀들이 가족갈등, 정체성 혼란 등의 문제를 겪지 않도록 가족관계 개선, 정체성 형성, 리더십 개발을 위한 ‘다재다능 프로그램’을 새롭게 추진하고 있다. 강은희 여성가족부 장관은 “다문화가족 자녀는 이중언어 능력과 다양한 문화경험이라는 강점이 있어 장차 우리 사회의 경쟁력을 강화시키고, 대한민국과 세계를 긴밀하게 이어줄 것”이라고 전망하고,  “이번 협약이 다문화가족 자녀들의 역량개발과 건강한 성장지원에 보다 다양한 기관들이 동참하는 계기가 되길 희망한다”고 밝혔다. 

MOGEF invites Asian youth
MOGEF (Ministry of Gender Equality and Family) invited 200 youth from 23 Asian countries to ‘Youth Camp for Asia’s Future 2016’ held from 2nd to 16th August. The Camp started in 2006 with the aim to promote Asian youth’s understanding of Korean culture and society and also to raise international cooperation and exchange. Under the slogan ‘Center of World Culture, Asian Youth’, the Camp presented various cultural programs and events including ‘Asian culture discussion, Asian culture exchange, and a tour in Seoul, Gyeongju and Jeju. The youth discussed on globalization of Asian culture and shared culture of their own country in the discussion program and experienced Korean cultural assets and beautiful landscape of Jeju in the tour programs. Minister Kang Eun-hee said “The importance and status of Asian countries in the international society is very high nowadays and the growth potential of Asian youth, therefore, is great. I hope the Camp will play a supporting role for them to raise their understanding on different and diverse cultures of each country and leadership so that they can grow as global citizens over citizens of just one country.”

MOGEF supports children from multi-cultural families
MOGEF, the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, the Korea Baduk Association (the game of go) and the Korea Job World signed a MOU to provide a variety of programs for children from multi-cultural families so that they can develop their aptitude and talent. Reports Camp, for example, will raise leadership and sociability while the game of go helps building intimate relationship between family members. MOGEF introduced last March ‘Support Plan for Children from Multi-Cultural Family’ to regularly check on the implementation of its support policy designed according to their growth cycle. MOGEF from this year has particularly focused on family conflict and identity issues. “They can have advantages of speaking at least two languages and experiencing two different cultures while growing up. We had better use these advantages for increasing our global competitiveness and I ask the people and related organizations to give a support.”
