Eco-friendly environment and creative materials for children
Making the most of children’s talent and aptitude
Director Go Ga-on of Haechansoop Kids Kindergarten (Sunny Forest Kindergarten)

Haechansoop Kids Kindergarten embraces methods of Bauman, Dewey and Vygotsky
You can find Haechansoop Kids Kindergarten in the 23,140 square meter forest in Poil-dong, Uiwang City. The building is built with eco-friendly materials and was appointed as an eco-friendly kindergarten from the Ministry of Environment. Director Go majored in social welfare, food and nutrition and business administration. She introduced the pedagogy of Bauman, Dewey and Vygotsky and runs the programs customized to two age groups: 2-4 years old and 5-7 years old. The programs include nature study, reading, and English and Chinese (native teachers). The two sides of the walls of the first floor are built with large windows so that children can learn while enjoying the sunlight warming their body. The lift in the building, on the other hand, conveniently shifts teachers and children to the third floor and all doors are opened and closed with card keys for safety reason. Stairs and handle bars are also designed to suit disabled children. The foods are meticulously prepared by qualified chefs on the advice of nutritionist. In addition, the school bus driver takes care of each child in accordance with‘the seat per child policy’with seatbelt on. Interestingly, the driver is the one who is growing fresh corns and sweet potatoes in the kindergarten. More importantly, all school parents are welcome to visit the kindergarten and check on how it runs any day.

Good teachers, good educational materials and effective educational systems!
In order to realize creative teaching materials and methods, Director Go is working in partnership with the Korea Project Publishing on the ‘Dandelion Seasonal School Nuri Educational Program’, and on development of effective art and self-directed learning methods for infant class in line with elementary education. Go also signed aMOU with the Uiwang Seniors Welfare Center to inspire children with decorum, filial piety and respect to seniors and to introduce them traditional games through once a week event. The MOU is followed by yet another MOU with Seoul Nawoo Hospital Pyeongchon Branch in order to give effective health education alongsideregular health check-up to children. Other programs are also run in cooperation with City Hospital and Uiwang Police Station to raise security issues. In terms of staff welfare, Director Go has introduced flexible working hours and is running various training programs. “Eco-friendly environment and creative materials are the key elements for children to make the most of their talent and aptitude. Like many innovative educators have said, good education requires good teachers, good educational materials and effective educational systems. As for our part, we will do our best, as we always did, to provide children with the very best education and environment available.”
