Hadong village SPECIAL
President Kim Tae-Gyeong of Hadong Junior Chamber
Excitement for the dream! Youth that acts! Hadong JC

In 1915, a young girl who was living in St. Lewis city, Missouri State USA got a car accident while playing in the street. Since then, people woke up and started the JCI (Junior Chamber International, hereafter ‘JC’) foundation. The spirit of that organization is to make parks for the children to protect the terrible accident and solve the local problems and created by Henry Giessenbier. Now, they have 123 country members and 8,000 offices over the world and it is the biggest NGO organization. Korea has 365 sub-organizations and a central association and over 20 thousands of members are following the goal. As for Hadong JC is the 33rd office set up. And we met President Kim Tae-Gyeong of Hadong Junior Chamber, which has been running proudly about 50 years and listened to the future of Hadong JC.

Hadong JC becomes as one with passion and harmony
Korea Junior Chamber is the group by the youth from 20 to 42, age in full and the international organization to make the welfare society ultimately by training the youth individually and raising their instructor ability without discrimination of race, nationality and religion. There is the 4-activitity-ooportunity such as personal talent improvement, business ability development, local society development, and international experience development aiming for volunteering for humanity and strengthening relationship out of social joining and the slogan has been evolved into an international private group. From that tool, they are contributing for the peace in the word by developing young people’s infinite potential power and active communications with other members around the world and local society development. As for President Kim Tae-Gyeong of Hadong Junior Chamber, he is the 49th president and reveled, “JC is a global youth organization dreaming of healthy new world that is not aging and keeping fresh with progressive young man’s power. We are looking for the peace for the humanity and a thriving culture and developing the local we belong to as an international organization. Also, we pursue young people with passion and youth are contributing for the country, society development and the world peace as non-political and non-profit organization as well. To devote the high status of JC, all the members of Hadong JC are doing their own duties.”

His father was the 24th president of Hadong JC and affect him a lot and naturally. He started the activity since he was young and has been doing the welcoming home event, safe driving campaign, children safety campaign, medical volunteering and Hadong-Songnim blanket music concert and even now he is thinking of various works for the area.

“Compared to the past, there are many NGO organizations these days. Because of that we are losing our own proud characters. I mean it was ‘self-development and leadership improvement’ as for JC before, but it is not enough anymore now. To develop more than now we need a bespoke change to appeal today’s young people and this time. Yet, we didn’t find the perfect solutions but we are planning to change fitting in the days with many members’ ideas.”

By that, President Kim is bringing various programs that the local wants. Not only that, he is stopping temporary events or shows that were one of JC activities, but starting a true spiritual projects instead. At the same time he is introducing training session and educational events more than before aggressively.

“It has been half year since I became a president here. For the rest of my term in the office I would like to work with members together to realize Hadong JC to be a representative youth group in Hadong under the catchphrase ‘Future of the country, Duty of the youth’. And I will do my job fully and try to make Hadong JC be the most excellent and futuristic youth club among the other NGO organization.”

Like his desire, we expect Hadong JC would be a great sample for every NGO clubs with the spirit of the times and a group for the ongoing local development..
