Removing the unique smell but upgrading the taste

President Chung Yong-hoon of Yeda Matsemgol Soy Bean Paste Agricultural Association Corporation worked for NongHyup as a branch manager and came down to his hometown Sacheon with his wife when he retired. On the recommendation of his acquaintance, he signed up for an agricultural course at Gyeongsang National University through which he came to know of agriculture professor Chung Jeong-il who developed ‘Jinyang Beans’ that do not give out unpleasant smell. Impressed by the beans, he moved to Donggok Village in Hadong County to commercialize the beans around 2011. Jeong sold the beans at 8,000 won to 11,000 won per kilogram but the advent of cheap Chinese beans drove the village to financial difficulty. “It was really regretful as we believed that our beans are the best beans in Korea. But we soon found a way by promoting a traditional market to get through the situation” said Jeong.

“Yeda Matsemgol Soy Bean Paste is tasty and nutritious”
Agriculture professor Chung Jeong-il of Gyeongsang National University developed ‘Jinyang Beans’ that do not give out unpleasant smell and can be eaten raw in 2011. He removed Lipoxygenase, the protein that causes the smell. The cultivation and production are similar to normal beans but the husk and the curves become clearer when compared to genetically modified beans. With this excellent quality and value of the beans as foundation, President Chung Yong-hoon of the corporation is planning to use the beans to make noodles, fast-fermented bean paste, soy milk and bean curd to expand the product lines so that more people can enjoy healthy and nutritious food.
