이에 저희는 초등부터 대입에 이르기까지 연계성 있는 교육 커리큘럼을 제공하는 것은 물론, 교감과 공감에 기반한 교육 시스템으로 아이들의 인성 발달에도 힘을 쏟고 있습니다”라고 밝혔다.

웰메이드 에듀 학원의 가장 큰 특징은 오랜 연구를 통해 개발된 독특한 프로그램인 ‘ Brain Coaching’을 통해 아이들의 인성 형성에 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다는 점이다. 브레인코칭 프로그램은 학생들에게 매일매일 감사의 말이나 칭찬의 말을 쓰고 사용하게 하는 방식으로 운영된다.

웰메이드 에듀 학원에서 강조하고 있는 또 하나는 바로 ‘교육의 연계성’이다. 우 원장은 “평택 지역은 교육열은 높지만, 학업과 입시에 대한 정보력이 부족한 탓에 대입에는 좋은 결과를 내지 못하고 있습니다”라고 지적했다. 이에 그는 중·고등 입시에 목표를 두기 보다는 ‘대학입시’라는 큰 장애물을 넘기 위한 효율적인 학습방법과 더불어, 입시에 대한 정확한 정보를 제공하고자 노력하고 있다. 평택 지역 학생들과 학부모들을 위한 정기적인 입시컨설팅 및 외부 설명회를 진행하고 있으며, 중학교와 고등학교, 대입에 이르는 체계적인 ‘원스톱 입시 컨설팅’을 통해 더 효율적이고 체계적인 교육환경을 구축하고자 노력하고 있다.

이 같은 교육의 성과는 아이들의 성적 향상과 우수한 입시 결과로도 잘 드러난다. 그러나 우 원장은 “그보다 더 중요한 것은 아이들이 자신의 미래를 더 나은 방향으로 이끌기 위해 주도적인 변화를 만들어내고 있다는 점”이라고 말한다. 그는 이렇게 성장한 아이들이 실제로 사회에 나가거나, 대학교에 입학한 뒤 감사의 마음을 전하고자 다시 학원에 찾아올 때가 가장 보람 있고 뜻 깊은 순간이라고 전했다. ‘성실·예의·인내’의 교육이념을 바탕으로 10년 넘게 인성교육을 강조해온 그의 신념이 보상받는 순간은 바로 아이들이 바람직한 모습으로 성장해 자신의 꿈을 실현하기 위한 길을 성실히 가고 있음을 확인하는 때인 까닭이다.

우성영 원장은 “교육은 한 나라의 백년지대계(百年之大計)입니다. 단기간의 목표 실현도 중요하지만, 아이들의 미래를 위해 교육자들의 좀 더 진정성 있는 노력이 필요합니다. 그리고 그런 부분에 있어서 공교육에서 부족한 부분을 사교육이 채워주는 역할을 할 수 있으리라 생각합니다”라고 말했다. 단순히 성적만을 강요하는 학원이 아닌, 아이들의 성장을 곁에서 지켜보고, 이를 지원해줄 수 있는 참된 교육기관이 되고자하는 웰메이드 에듀 학원이 더 많은 아이들이 미래에 대한 꿈을 일궈나가는 텃밭이 될 수 있기를 기대해 본다.

What is most important in education?Jean-Jacques Rousseau said “The purpose of education is at making human but not at machine”. It means that education is an activity for children to find their potential and grow their dream. Opened in Pyeongtaek City in 2006, Wellmade Edu has taken the initiative in spreading the importance of ‘education for the future of children’ for the last ten years. Director Uh says “We have to see education in long term perspectives. But most private educational institutes are rather focusing on drawing short term results through rote learning-driven curriculum. We, on the other hand, are focusing more on personality education and providing comprehensive curriculum that can connect contents of elementaryschool to high school.” Wellmade Edu’s representative program is ‘Brain Coaching’. It encourages students to use appreciative wordsand complimentary remarks. According to Uh, it stimulates the frontal lobe and promotes positive mind, consideration for others and fair play. Uh says“The biggest advantage of this teaching method is that it promotes positive energy of children as well as academic performance.”

Wellmade Edu puts an emphasis on ‘connectivity of education’. Uh explains “There is high demand for education in Pyeongtaek but lack of information on studying methods and examinations. For this, we are using effective studying methods and providing accurate information about the examinations. We are also doing a regular consulting for the university entrance exam and our ‘one stop consulting services’ will give students a better educational environment. This has been well proved by our students’ excellent performance in school record and the exams. But more important thing I want to point out is that our students are self-motivated learners.I feel really rewarded when our students pay a visit after entering a university and show us their gratitude.”Wellmade Edu’s motto is ‘diligence, decorum and endurance’.
