'Making a change, walking together with society'
CEO Roh Un-ha of Panasonic Korea

Pursuing a sound growth
A company and the society are like a tree and the earth. Trees cannot grow without the earth and the earth cannot be healthy without trees. A company's social responsibility is based on this co-existence. A company contributes to local community and creates social value in the way of making a better society. In this respect, Panasonic is one of the leading names for CSR (corporate social responsibility). Expecting the 100 anniversary of its history in 2018, Panasonic was founded by Konosuke Matsushita (deceased) in 1918 and the company has led CSV (corporate social value) and CSR under the management philosophy 'Co-existence, Co-prosperity'. And this philosophy has succeeded today to Panasonic Korea opened in November 2000. Roh was appointed as the first Korean CEO of Panasonic Korea in 2010 and is famous for transparent management and philosophy of co-growth. He worked for Anam Electronics and Mirae Communications and was in the center of the Korean electronics industry. He joined Panasonic Korea as one of the founding members in 2000 and was promoted to Head of Business Marketing within 6 years and CEO after 4 years. He improved distribution system, strengthened competitiveness and realized customized marketing strategies. Roh says "I thought I was appointed as CEO because as Korean, I know how and what to do in the Korean market." Panasonic Korea has gone through many changes since Roh took the office. He introduced a better salary and welfare systems than any other counterparts with the aim to create family-friendly working environment. He encouraged childbirth, introduced child care policy and 'Family Loving Day' on every Wednesday on which staff leave work 1 hour early, allowed staff to go business trip with family, and provided marriage counseling for unmarried staff through partner matchmaking company. Thanks to these innovations, Panasonic Korea was praised for highly desirable work place and was chosen as 'Excellent Family-friendly Company' by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2011. Roh also exerted much effort in building a close cooperative relationship with partner companies. He established pre-payment system, realized efficiency in administration by securing extra operating fund, minimized the volume of stock and prevented the goods go out of stock.

"Creating social value is a company's duty"
Roh's 'Co-existence, Co-prosperity' philosophy is well implemented in brand power. According to '100 Best Global Brands 2015', Panasonic ranked No.65 showing a strong presence in the home appliances and electronic goods industries. Panasonic produces more than 60,000 kinds of products and Panasonic Korea reflects the Korean consumer's needs in the products. Under the catch phrase 'A Better Life, A Better World', Panasonic has introduced various health care products. The luxury massage chair 'MA Series' and 'horse riding machine 'JOBA' already created a boom in the Korean market and other oral and hair care products and the razor Lamdash are also leading the field. The mouth washer 'Water Jet', which won 10 brand awards last year, in particular, is attracting a great attention for its 3 level interdental and gum care at one go. Roh says "A company cannot exist without the society. Therefore, the company must create social value, make contribution and share the profits with the society. It is the company's ethics and duty." As part of this effort, Panasonic Korea is actively engaged in various social activities and donations. The social contribution program 'CSR Tour' is a good example. It is held twice a year and the company donates free digital cameras and daily necessities for 110 social facilities around the capital area. The tour also is connected to various free photography lectures and contests and it marked the 18th anniversary this year. Meanwhile, Panasonic Korea celebrated its 15 years of continuous innovation and achievement and Roh announced 'the second startup' under the chants 'Well Aging Leader Company' and 'Super Clean Policy'. Through this, Panasonic Korea intends to expand the business cope to more areas including food. Roh explains "Super Clean Policy, for example, is a philosophy that a company is the air in the society and the business must contribute to the society in order to fulfill its social responsibility. We will keep exerting our utmost effort in building a better society like we always did." <Power Korea> cannot wait to see Roh's yet another innovation and social contribution this year.
