Seojeong College’s ‘Future Master Project’ surprises the educational world
National Competency Standard-driven curriculum fosters next generation talents

National Competency Standard-driven curriculum fosters next generation talents

Seojeong College is rising as one of the best colleges in North Gyeonggi Province. Since its opening in 2003, the college has fostered many talented students through its excellent curriculum. According the 2010 research of Gallup Korea, Seojeong College scored 90% in student satisfaction and 95% in quality of lecture. Also, the students from 16 departments in 4 categories who benefited from scholarship took up 40% of the total number of students with 96% of employment rate after graduation which made the college No.1 in employability two years in a row in 2010 and 2011. The college runs a program that connects students who have completed a 2 year course to a degree level course and the National Competency Standard-driven curriculum of the college is particularly focused on practicality so that students can be able to adopt and spread their skills in speed in the work place. The Department of Early Childhood Education (3 year course), for example, received A Grade at the Teacher Training Evaluation 2014 and 89.9% of the students got a job with 81% in nursery schools. The Beauty Art Department which has produced Master Hairdresser for two year in a row, for another example, is No.1 in terms of number of students (210) who have won prizes at various domestic and international competitions. Other outstanding departments include Nursing Science (100% exam passing rate), Social Welfare & Administration (guarantees 3 national certificates and employment), Pet Caring, Industrial Engineering (Master Auto Mechanics for 5 years in a row with 45 certificate holders), Automobile (147 certificate holders), Food and Nutrition (No.1 in number of prizes) and Fire Fight Safety and Management (100% exam passing rate with No.1 employment rate in the fire officers job).

Cutting edge educational facilities promotes efficiency and better results
All of these achievements are said to be possible thanks to Chancellor Kim Hong-ryong’s transparent educational management which made the college free of debt. The college site and the rate of hiring quality teaching staff is above the standard of the Ministry of Education, and Kim secured KRW 15 billion profitable basic assets from which KRW 4.5 billion is allocated for scholarship. The college also is No.1 in number of employed students thanks to its cutting edge educational facilities that can be used for national exams. Other features include dormitory that can accommodate 230 students, library, concert hall, Korean garden, shuttle bus that connects students to Line No.1 with additional buildings currently being built on a 6,611m2 for laboratories and welfare facilities. Seojeong College also has done numerous regional contribution projects such as Westart Village, Dream Tree Safe School and support for Multinational Family Support Center. In addition, 180 army officers of nearby military camps finished a course at the college and obtained Certificate of Personality Guidance Counselor. Currently, the college is working on industry-academic cooperation project worth KRW 4 billion.

‘Future Master Project’ raises success rate in work place
Started with 400 students which have grown to be 4,600 in 14 years, the secret of Seojeong College’s keeping the No.1 place in employment rate is at ‘Future Master Project’. The project invites masters in each field as professor for special lectures during the holiday. The college’s class for workers and high school students are also popular for their practicality and hands-on experience. Rewards and welfare systems for staff are also one of the prides of the college. With this great educational environment as background, The Department of Food and Nutrition achieved No.1 in number of employment in the hotel industry and all graduate-to-be from the Departments of Emergency Rescue and Nursing Science have passed the national exam five years in a row (100% passing rate). Also, The Department of Nursing Science is equipped with real hospital facilities and the first Seojeong College affiliated company ‘Seojeong Pet Center is run on ‘1 person 1 certificate policy’ and it provided animal medical services in cooperation with Seojeong Animal Medical Center which was appointed as Excellent College Company by the Ministry of Education in 2015. Kim says “We will keep doing our very best as we always did in order to foster talented industry specialists.” <Power Korea> sends a message of support to Chancellor Kim and Seojeong College.
