디지털 노마드들의 필수품 될 대용량 휴대배터리 ‘에너집 파워뱅크’

전력보급과 ICT 연계발전이 유비쿼터스 시대를 열었다면, 디지털 노마드족들은 여전히 라이프스타일에 적합한 기종을 찾거나 DIY를 시도하는 중이다. 이들을 위한 아웃도어, 아웃라이프에 적합한 올인원 대용량 휴대배터리가 출시되어 화제를 모으고 있다. 효율과 경제성, 휴대성, 안전성을 겸비한 ‘에너집 파워뱅크’를 출시한 벤처기업 ㈜라스트리의 최경식 대표를 만나본다.

낱개 사용가능, 합체하면 대용량 변신. 혁신적인 생활필수품등극 기대
휴대전화와 보조 배터리로 세계시장에 선 샤오미의 성공사례와 맞물려, IT제품에서 장식 액세서리산업보다 하드웨어를 서포트하는 장비에 대한 관심이 늘고 있다. 또한 많은 기업들이 소형 보조배터리는 물론, 전력 에너지로 가동되는 생활가전, 멀티미디어 기기에 사용할 수 있는 파워뱅크라고 불리는 2차전지의 활용방식을 연구하고 있다. 이 시점에서 한국 및 세계 시장에 적합한 스펙을 갖고 혜성처럼 등장한 ‘에너집 파워뱅크’는 다양한 외부 상황에 적합한 대용량 배터리이다. ‘에너집 파워뱅크’의 시판단계 전부터 세계 바이어들의 주목을 받으며 미래지향형 전기전자산업을 선도하는 것으로 평가받는 ㈜라스트리는 2015년 6월 출범한 벤처기업이다. 최경식 대표는 “‘에너집 파워뱅크’는 기존 중국산 파워뱅크들이 15kg이 넘는 고가 제품으로 케이스 없이 본체가 노출된 형태라는 단점을 모두 개선해 우리 기술로 만들었다. 560g, 100W용량의 독립형 리튬이온 보조배터리팩 4개로 구성되어, 각각 혹은 전체 충전 및 사용이 가능하며 4개를 합친 400W용량의 무게는 4.8kg에 불과하다. 또한 전기충전과 태양열 자가발전 충전이 모두 가능한데다 충전시간은 6-8시간이면 충분하다. USB와 DC Voltage, AC전원(110/220AC) 등 다양한 출력포트를 탑재해 휴대용 생활가전, 휴대전화와 노트북에도 연결할 수 있다”고 설명한다. 최 대표는 제조에서 사용자의 편의를 가장 고려했다고 전한다. 전선 배출구가 있어서 케이블로 연결하면 케이스에 넣은 채로 사용할 수 있고, 동류 대용량배터리와 달리 과전압, 과전력, 과충전, 과열에 대비한 4중 안전장치로 외부 충격에도 강하며 이 디자인은 모두 특허 출원되어 있다. 이렇게 다양한 세부 기능은 대용량 배터리를 분리형으로 만들었기에 가능했으며, 무엇보다 납배터리로 제조된 파워뱅크처럼 소음, 환경오염 문제를 일으키지 않고, 동종 리튬이온, 리튬인산철 배터리보다 경제적인 충전단가효율과 고출력을 자랑한다. 

한국형 디자인으로 세계 판로 뚫어 소비자중심 에너지산업 선도할 것
최 대표에 따르면 ESS(에너지 스토리지 시스템), 에너지 UPS(예비전력공급장치)에 대한 관심이 늘고 있지만, 삼성, LG등이 전지원천기술을 보유하고 있음에도 보조배터리 응용시장은 여전히 중국이 선점하는 것이 안타까워 한국 제조업체들의 장점인 편의성과 효율, 디자인에 강점을 두고 제품을 기획했다고 한다. 리튬이온셀로 제작한 ‘에너집 파워뱅크’는 자동차에서도 사용과 충전 모두 가능하다. 충전과 출력방식이 일체화되어있기 때문이다. 그래서 별매하는 액세서리케이블로 이으면 차량배터리 방전 시 시동을 걸 수 있는 차량 점프스타터로도 쓸 수 있다. 전지는 소모품이지만 다른 파워뱅크와 달리, 낱개를 교체해 가며 반영구적으로 사용할 수 있다는 장점 덕에 지난 3월 독일, 홍콩에서의 코트라와 공동참여한 글로벌전시전에서 혁신적인 아이디어상품으로 각광받기도 했다. 최 대표는 “땅이 넓고 전력공급이 부족하며, 정전이나 자연재해가 많은 나라에서는 태양광을 이용해 중국산전지를 예비전력으로 사용하기에 우리 제품에 대한 문의가 많다. 앞으로도 2차전지를 응용한 에너지사업분야에서 소비자의 편의를 위한 제품을 한국화한 개발생산에 힘쓰겠다”고 한다. 이렇듯 ‘에너집 파워뱅크’는 오지탐험 촬영팀이나 지진, 해일로 전력이 끊기는 비상지역, 야외 근무자가 많은 해외에서도, 개인 및 군납산업, 아웃도어 산업이 커 가는 한국에서도 유용하게 쓰일 것으로 예상된다. 300W이하의 가전과 기기에 모두 쓸 수 있어 국내에서도 푸드카 업체, 낚시터장비용, 무인광고 LED업체, 드론 등 다양한 업체와의 협업이 가능하며, RC, 캠핑 동호회같은 레저업계 등에서 많은 기대 중이라고 한다. 또 스마트 가전과 IT기기와의 연동에 이어 세계적으로도 전기자동차의 상용화를 준비 중이기에, 전기차 충전소가 충분하지 않은 한국에서 ‘에너집 파워뱅크’의 다양한 버전이 출시된다면 전기자동차 연료 문제를 해결할 수 있을 것으로도 보인다. 최 대표는 1년 6개월이 넘는 섬세한 금형작업과 개발 투자를 거쳐, 오는 6월 초 1차 생산을 거쳐 시장에 풀 예정이라고 전했다. “기술과 인재가 풍부한 한국은 제품 개발보다 상품화, 상용화 과정이 더 어렵다. 국내 원천기술기업과의 상생을 통해서 이러한 난관을 해결했으면 한다”는 최 대표의 바람이 이루어져 ㈜라스트리가 앞으로도 한국형 개발생산제품의 세계화와 2차 전지응용 에너지 산업에서 한국의 브랜드신뢰도를 꾸준히 자랑할 수 있기를 바란다.

Recently, people have shown an increasing interest in hardware supporting devices over accessory-driven trend which was ignited by Xiaomi’s portable batteries. It is also reported that numerous companies are actively engaged in research on so called the secondly battery ‘power bank’that can be used for home appliances and multimedia devices. Lastree (established June 2015)’s ‘Enerzip Power Bank’, however, is a high-capacity battery and it attracted a great attention not only from Korean buyers but from the world even at the test sales. It is regarded as leading device of future-oriented electricity and electronic industries. CEO Choi explains “We made Enerzip Power Bank with domestic technology and it has significantly improved the existing Chinese power banks that weigh more than 15kg and are provided without a case. Enerzip Power Bank, on the other hand, is consisted of 4 independent auxiliary lithium batteries (560g, 100W each) and it generates powers from electricity and solar energy to charge the batteries within 6 to 8 hours. You can connect USB, DC Voltage and AC Adaptor (110/220AC) and it is compatible with home appliances, mobile phones and laptops. You can also use it while the cable is being connected in a case and its 4 time layered safety device prevents overvoltage, overpower and overcharging.”In terms of its design, CEO Choi already has applied for patents. The batteries are not made of lead which is common material of the existing power banks that cause environmental pollution and they are much more economic than the same kind lithium ion and iron phosphate batteries in terms of charging unit price. 

Korean style design to pioneer global market
Choi developed Enerzip Power Bank as he regrets the fact that major companies like Samsung and LG are reluctant to make auxiliary batteries even though they have original technology despite the increasing market demand for ESS (energy storage system) and UPS (uninterruptible power supply). To compete with Chinese counterparts, Choi designed Enerzip Power Bank to be also used for vehicle by integrating the output. You can use it as ‘jump starter of your car’ when the battery is gone by connecting it with an accessary cable and can change the batteries when needed. Enerzip Power Bank attracted attention at the global exhibitions held in Germany and Hong Kong last March for its innovation and creativeness. Choi says “The countries with large land and constant natural disaster have sent us inquiriesin number about Enerzip Power Bank. To meet their demand, we will keep focusing on developing more related products.” Enerzip Power Bank is also useful for outdoor activities, exploration in remote areas and military operations as well as food truck and manless LED commercials. If the bank is further ungraded, it can also be sued for charging electric vehicles. Choi adds “We have carried out R&D for the last 1 and half years and the product will be released June this year. As commercialization is more difficult than the production in Korea, we will give particular effort in spreading the excellence of Enerzip Power Bank in cooperation with the Korean companies that have original technologies.”<Power Korea> hopes that Lastree will grow into a global company over Korea in near future.
