전경련 임직원, 전국 보듬이나눔이어린이집 일일교사로 나섰다
전경련 임직원들이 전국 보듬이나눔이어린이집에 흩어져 일일 보육교사를 자처했다. 전국경제인연합회(이하 ‘전경련’)는 경제계 공동 사회공헌의 일환으로 추진되고 있는 보듬이나눔이어린이집 건립 사업 마지막 해를 기념하며, 5월 23일(월) 전국 63곳 보듬이나눔이어린이집에서 임직원이 참여하는 봉사활동을 진행했다고 밝혔다. 

이 날 활동에는 전경련, 국제경영원(IMI), 전경련중소기업협력센터, FKI미디어 임직원과 더불어 YLC, EIC 등 동아리에서 활동하고 있는 대학생 등 총 160명이 동참하였다. 수도권은 물론 인천 자월도, 경남 의령군, 전남 보성군, 제주시 등 원거리에 위치한 어린이집까지 찾아가 전국 4,532명의 어린이들을 만나고, 유기농 쌀과자 세트를 선물로 전달하며 종일 봉사활동을 펼쳤다. 보육교사 활동은 물론 벽화 그리기, 화단 꾸미기 등 그동안 어린이집에서 일손이 부족하여 진행하지 못했던 일을 정성껏 도우며 일과를 보냈다.

지난 5월 18일(수)에는 전라남도 순천에 오천 보듬이나눔이어린이집이 개원하여 경제계 보육지원사업 70번째 결실을 맺었다. 이로써 현재 건립 중인 19곳을 제외한 전국 70개 보듬이나눔이어린이집에서 총 5천여 가정에 보육 혜택을 받고, 770명의 보육 교직원이 일을 하게 되었다. 향후 100개소까지 건립이 완료되면 약 7천여 가정이 보육 서비스를 받게 되며 1천1백 명의 보육 일자리가 창출될 것으로 기대된다.

경제계는 올해 11개의 지자체를 선정하고 10월 중 사업추진 협약을 맺으며 지난 8년간의 사업을 완료할 계획이다. 올해는 삼성, 현대차, LG, SK, 포스코, 롯데, GS, 한진, 한화, 효성, KB국민은행, 삼양 등 12개 기업이 66억원의 기금을 조성하였다.

개방 기지개 켜는 쿠바, 한국 경제계와 손잡다
미국과의 국교 정상화 이후 적극적인 대외개방정책을 추진 중인 쿠바가 유망 新시장으로 각광받고 있는 가운데, 한국 민간 경제계가 쿠바 경제계와 적극적인 대화에 나섰다. 전국경제인연합회(이하 ‘전경련’) 허창수 회장은 5월 12일(목) 전경련회관에서 올란도 에르난데스 기옌(Orlando Hernandez Guillen) 쿠바상공회의소(이하 ‘쿠바상의’) 회장을 초청하여 반원익 중견기업연합회(이하 ‘중견련’) 부회장 등 경제계와의 간담회를 가졌다. 또한 이날 전경련은 쿠바상의와 경제협력위원회 출범 MOU를 체결하였으며, 10월 말 아바나에서 첫 합동회의 개최를 약속하였다.

허창수 전경련 회장은 이날 간담회에서 “한국과 쿠바는 아직 정치적으로 미수교 상태이나 경제적으로는 좋은 협력 파트너가 될 수 있다.”고 강조하며 쿠바의 에너지발전사업, 관광 인프라 개발, 의료산업을 유망 협력 사업으로 제시하였다. 또한 이날 반원익 중견련 부회장이 참석하여, 중견기업들의 쿠바 진출 확대를 위한 협력 방안을 논의하였다.

이날 전경련은 쿠바상의와 한-쿠바 경제협력위원회 출범을 합의하는 MOU를 체결하였다. 전경련에 따르면 한-쿠바 경제협력위원회는 양국 간 경제·통상 관계 증진 및 서비스, 관광, 투자 촉진을 목적으로 출범하는 첫 민간협력체이다. 또한 전경련과 쿠바상의는 오는 11월 첫 주 쿠바 아바나국제박람회(Havana International Fair 2016)를 계기로 10월 30일(잠정) 아바나에서 첫 회의를 개최하기로 약속하였다.

Huh takes day teacher role for children
Staff of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) voluntarily took day teacher’s role for children at 63 Bona Children Care Center nationwide on 23 May as part of social contribution movement in the economic circle in Korea. 160 staff from related organizations and voluntarily university students participated in the event. The participants met 4,532 children in total and actively engaged in wall painting and gardening and gave organic rice snack and gifts to them. The 70th Bona Children Care Center was opened on 18 May in Suncheon City and 19 are being built in various places at the moment and 770 teachers at the centers are expected to provide services to 5,000 households. FKI is planning to open total of 100 centers nationwide on the benefit of 7,000 households and of creating 1,100 jobs. The economic circle has appointed 11 local governments and will sign business agreement during October to complete the last 8 years of the project. This year, however, 12 major companies created KRW 6.6B fund for the project. 

Cuba joins hands with Korean business
Cuba is rising as a promising market thanks to the recent normalization of the diplomatic ties with the US. Seizing this opportunity, Korean businessmen are actively engaging in business with Cuban economic world. The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) invited Chairman Orlando Hernandez Guillen of Cuba Chamber of Commerce & Industry to the FKI building Seoul on 12 May. They signed a MOU for launching Korea-Cuba Economic Cooperation Committee and agreed to hold the first meeting in October at Havana, the capital city of Cuba. Huh said that Korea and Cuba had not yet signed on diplomatic relations but could be good trade partners while the time being. Huh pointed out Cuba’s energy, tourism and medicine as promising industries. An official of FKI said “Korea-Cuba Economic Cooperation Committee is the first private cooperation organization between the two countries and it will promote economy and trade. FKI and Cuba Chamber of Commerce & Industry will hold the first meeting on 30 October in Havana on the occasion of Havana International Fair 2016.”
