지역사회와 상생하는 건강한 기업을 꿈꾸다

기업은 한 그루의 나무와 같다. 기업은 나무처럼 좋은 영양분이 잘 공급되고, 충분한 햇볕을 받으면 무성하게 성장한다. 그 성장의 발판이 되는 토양은 곧 그 기업이 뿌리내리고 있는 지역사회이다. 기업과 지역사회가 유기적으로 공존하고 상생하는 관계를 이루어야 하는 까닭이 바로 이 때문이다.

나눔을 함께하면 기쁨은 배가 된다
건강한 지역사회는 건강한 기업을 만든다. 지역경제가 불안정해서는 기업이 성장할 수 없고, 건강한 기업이 없이는 지역사회 또한 발전할 수 없다. 즉 지역사회와 기업은 서로 공존하고, 상생하는 관계이다. 그러나 이 단순한 명제를 몸소 실천하는 기업은 그리 많지 않다. 그렇기에 우리는 이익을 지역사회에 환원하고, 나눔과 봉사를 통해 상생을 도모하는 기업을 ‘좋은 기업’이라 부른다.

지난 3월 15일, 대구지역 폭스바겐 공식딜러 지엔비오토모빌은 그간 모인 ‘HAPPY 펀드’ 성금 전액을 대구사회복지공동모금회에 전달했다. ‘HAPPY 펀드’란 ‘Help All People Please You’의 준말로 고객들의 참여를 통해 이웃의 소외계층에 도움의 손길을 전하고자 지엔비오토모빌이 자체적으로 시행하고 있는 모금운동이다. 한 해 동안 판매한 차량 한 대당 1만 원, 시승 한 회당 2천 원, A/S센터 입고 한 대당 1천 원의 금액을 자체적인 기부금으로 적립하며, 이렇게 모인 금액이 무려 5천 1만 3,000원에 달한다. 지난해 이미 첫 번째 ‘HAPPY 펀드’를 통해 4천 3백여만 원을 기부한 바 있는 지앤비오토모빌의 이진백 대표는 “나눔의 기쁨을 고객들과 함께하고자 설립한 펀드가 좋은 결실을 맺게 되어 기쁩니다. 지금도 계속되고 있는 해피펀드가 앞으로도 주위의 어려운 이웃들에게 조금이나마 도움이 되길 바랍니다”라고 말했다. 

지난 2009년 설립된 지앤비오토모빌은 그동안 주위의 어려운 이웃들을 돕기 위한 활동을 꾸준히 펼쳐왔다. 2010년부터 사무실 근처에 위치한 ‘화니어린이집’ 장애우 교육시설과 결연을 맺어 지속적인 나눔을 실천하고 있으며, 월드비전에서 시행 중인 기아체험 행사에도 매년 꾸준한 참석과 후원을 시행해 오고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 매해 연말마다 대구 서구청과 연계하여 독거노인들을 위한 물품을 기부하는 등 지역사회에 나눔을 적극적으로 실천하고 있다. 

절망을 뒤집으면 희망이 보입니다
지앤비오토모빌이 이처럼 지역사회를 위한 나눔과 봉사에 적극적으로 나서고 있는 바탕에는 ‘누구나 자신이 걸어온 길에 대해 책임을 갖고, 자신의 역할에 최선을 다해야 한다’는 이진백 대표의 철학이 깔려있다. 아시아자동차의 말단사원에서 출발해 지금의 자리에 오기까지 갖은 우여곡절을 겪으면서도 끊임없이 노력하고, 끝내 다시 일어서 온 이 대표가 자신의 삶에서 깨달은 원칙이 바로 이것이다. 그는 “입사 3년 만에 최단기간 판매왕에 오르기도 했고, SCANIA 부품 전문업체를 창업해 대구경북시장 1위를 달성한 순간도 있었지만, 사업 다각화를 위해 뛰어들었던 골재건설 사업에서 IMF 금융위기를 맞아 큰 실패를 경험하기도 했습니다. 하지만 저를 믿어주고 응원해주었던 이들이 제게 희망을 주었고, 덕분에 다시 일어설 수 있었습니다”라며, “누구에게나 고통스럽고, 절망적인 순간이 있습니다. 이를 극복하고 앞으로 나아가느냐 혹은 그 자리에 주저앉고 마느냐는 결국 마음가짐에 달려있습니다”라고 말하며, 지앤비오토모빌이 보다 많은 이들에게 앞으로 나아갈 수 있는 용기와 희망을 주는 나침반이 되길 바란다고 전했다.

이 대표의 이러한 생각은 지앤비오토모빌의 차별화된 고객서비스에도 이어지고 있다. 대구 수성구 두산동에 위치한 전시장과 이현동, 두산동에 각각 위치한 서비스센터에서는 고객들이 편안하게 차량을 사용하고, 서비스를 제공받을 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다하고 있다. 특히 지난 2012년, 100억을 투자해 오픈한 이현동 서비스센터는 점검, 수리, 판금, 도장까지 차량에 관련된 모든 서비스를 원스톱으로 제공받을 수 있다. 

이 대표는 “지앤비오토모빌의 철학은 ‘함께’ 나아가는 것입니다. 직원뿐만 아니라 지역사회의 모든 구성원들이 함께 성장하고, 더불어 살아갈 수 있는 사회를 만드는 데에 최선의 노력을 다하겠습니다”라고 밝혔다. 거대한 기업이 되기보다는 좋은 기업이 되기를 꿈꾸는 지앤비오토모빌. 이들이 전하는 희망의 손길이 우리 사회 곳곳에 봄처럼 따뜻한 향기로 퍼져나가게 되길 바란다.

Dreaming of a healthy company having a win-win system with a local area

A company is like a tree. When the tree is provided with good nutrition well and enough sunlight by someone, it grows amazingly and so the company does. The soil that is a foothold is just like a local place where the company has a root. This is the reason why a company and a local society have to have a relationship to live together organically. 

When having the share together, the joy would be doubled 
A healthy local society makes a healthy company. With an unstable local economy, companies in there cannot grow and without healthy companies, the local society cannot be better to live. Therefore, the local and the company co-exist at the same time so, we call ‘a good company’ when the company returns our profits to the local society and do the public benefit by sharing and volunteering. 

Last 15th March, Volkswagen Official dealer, G&B Automobile in Daegu delivers the entire donation from ‘HAPPY FUND’ that they saved for a while to the Community Chest of Daegu. ‘HAPPY FUND’ stands for ‘Help All People Please You’ and it is G&B Automobile fund-raising movement campaign to help some neglected local neighbors out of their job. How the money is saving is when one car is sold, 10,000 won goes into the donation system and 2,000 won whenever a test driving takes place goes as well. It was running by their system and all the money saved like that was 50,013,000 won. Last year, they delivered the donation money, which was about 43,000,000 won by the first ‘HAPPY FUND’. CEO Lee Jin-Baek of G&B Automobile said, “We are so glad to see a good result of the fund we wanted to share the happiness with our customers. The fund-raising campaign is still going on and I hope it will help the local poor people.” 

G&B Automobile was established in 2009 and so far they have been helping their neighbors constantly. Since 2010, they set up a sisterhood relationship with ‘Hwani Daycare Center’, which is running for kids who are disabled and close to G&B Automobile and they have joined and supported WORLDVISION’s hunger experience every year. Not only that, they donate some stuff for lonely old people who are living alone associated with Daegu West Office. 

Upside down despair, there is hope 
The background of the reason why G&B Automobile is actively doing the share and volunteering for the local area lies in CEO Lee Jin-Baek’s philosophy that people have to be responsible for their ways and do the best on their duty. He started the working career at ASIA Automobile for the first time from the bottom and now he owns his company. For that time being, he experienced lots of happenings and episodes but he never gave up and tried. At the end, that is what he found out from his life as a principle. 

He said, “I used to be the sale’s king within 3 years since I began the job and it was I made it as fastest as nobody did. Later, I opened a company to provide SCANIA elements and parts and my business hit the top but I failed and lost everything because of IMF while I was doing the aggregate construction business. However, people who trusted and cheered me gave me a hope and thanks to that, I could stand up again.” He continued, “Everyone has that kind of moment like they cannot find any hope and light. And they will see the depression and devastation. It only depends on their mindset if they can go ahead or give up and keep failing.” He hopes to be a compass to give courage and hope for many people who want to go forward. CEO Lee’s thought like that has been making a differentiated customer service of G&B Automobile. At showroom in Doosandong, Susung-gu, Daegu and at service centers in ehyungdong and Doosandong, they are doing the best to make customers feel comfortable to use cars and get the service. Especially, in 2012, he invested 10 billion won to open the ehyungdong service center so that customers can one-stop service including checking, repairing, plate work and sealing. 

CEO Lee Jin-Baek spoke, “The philosophy of G&B Automobile is going for together. I will do my best to build the society to live along, not only employees but also people in the local area.” G&B Automobile is that the company wants to be a good company not a huge company. We hope their hope delivered would spread out into every corner of this society like a spring breeze.
