Since its opening in 1976, 8Bun Restaurant has continued its tradition in the pork and rice soup alley on Bukseong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu for 40 years. Many people might have wondered why 8Bun Restaurant? Some guess it might be the phone number in the olden times and some as the 8th restaurant opened in the alley. To slake their curiosity, CEO Park explained "The number 8 resembles roly-poly toy and it symbolizes doggedness; try again and agin no matter how many you fall." 

The best quality pork meat in a clean broth
The winner menu of 8Bun Restaurant is Pork & Rice Soup. You might find Sundae (Korean sausage) Rice Soup in the upper region of Korea but pork and rice soup is widely spread especially in Miryang, Busan and Daegu. If Busan had ups and downs of the food, Daegu experienced the very first village specialized for the food right after the Korean War which provided a variety of versions. 8Bun Restaurant among them is the one which succeeded the original recipe and its variations but only made with the best quality pork meat in a clean broth. CEO and the mast cook Kim boils the broth with pig's feet, back bone and leg bone four times for 24 hours. Other menus include 'Boiled Pork Slices', made with pork belly of 80kg to 100kg pigs, and 'Korean sausages'. She said "We can remove the pork smell even by using the best and the freshes meat." The Hand-made Korean sausage also is made of 20 ingredients including shiitake mushroom, sticky ice and glass needles wrapped up with pork entrails and is the most popular menu online for delivery. 

The family business passing down to second generation
Park is Kim's son and they together are managing the business at the moment. If you visit the restaurant early in the morning, you can enjoy the benefit of just cooked pork liver and lung for free on their generosity. The regulars of the restaurant might recommend you '8Bun Special' or 'Mixed Pork & Rice Soup'. The former particularly is a fun to eat as it has pork slices, Korean sausages and ribs so that you pick up a rib to bite the flesh off. The latter, on the other hand, mixed the pork & rice soup with Korean sausages so that you can fulfill your greed of having both taste in one bowl. Currently, Park and Kim have nine branch restaurants in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu and Beomeo-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu. Park said "We are preparing for a franchise business so that more people can enjoy our heavenly delicious soup and menus."
