눈빛에 머무는 최상의 맵시. 눈을 위한 가장 화려하고 실용적인 액세서리인 선글라스는 패션과 스포츠 모두를 아우르고 생활 속에서 쉽게 활용할 수 있다. 프레임과 렌즈의 디자인과 컬러, 시력교정과 자외선/적외선 차단 기능, 그리고 순수 국내기술로 이뤄진 과학적인 커스터마이징을 결합한 ‘켄블락’이 선글라스 계의 새로운 패러다임을 제시하고 있다. 켄블락코리아의 윤대병 대표를 만나 기술의 혁신으로 이뤄진 켄블락만의 강점을 분석해 본다.

눈 보호 기능에 충실하면서 처음 만나는 진짜 ‘카멜레온 선글라스’를 표방
지금까지 최상의 선글라스를 찾기 위해 소위 명품 브랜드만을 선호했다면, 이제는 패션, 스포츠 어디에나 어울리고 인체공학적인 디자인으로 유명한 선글라스 브랜드 ‘켄블락’에 주목할 때다. 2014년 한국에 정식 총판으로서 런칭한 켄블락코리아의 윤대병 대표는 (사)한국골프지도자 피팅협회 이사, 1998년도에 설립한 윤골프클럽연구소를 통해 대한민국 프로 골퍼들의 골프클럽 피팅을 대중화시킨 장본인이었다. 윤 대표는 골프 프로 개개인의 스윙을 고려한 맞춤형 피팅 전문가이기에, 골퍼들이 모자만큼 애용하는 패션 아이템인 선글라스 중에서도 국내 기술력을 통해 디자인, 도색과 안면 피팅감에서 타 브랜드들보다 혁신을 이룬 브랜드를 선택했다. 현재 100여 종이 출시된 켄블락코리아의 선글라스는 자외선/적외선을 100%, 가시광선을 98% 차단한다. 시력에 맞춰 도수를 넣는 기능은 서울·부산 밝은세상안과의원과 스폰서십을 맺어 더욱 믿을 수 있다. 켄블락은 렌즈장착 시 평균 34g대의 가벼운 무게이며 야외에서 땀을 흘렸을 때에도 미끄러지지 않고, 실외에서 오래 착용해도 미간, 귀 뒤쪽이 압력으로 불편하지 않으면서도 단단하게 밀착된다.

윤 대표는 “켄블락 선글라스는 단순한 변색기능이 아닌, 국내 최초의 혁신적인 도색 기술을 도입했다. 그것은 바로 각도, 온도, 자외선 강도에 따라 카멜레온처럼 색상이 변하는 프레임과 레그 부분의 도색 기술이다”라고 한다. 또 프레임의 시그니처 프린트 및 맞춤형 5가지 렌즈의 색상을 개발하여, 한 디자인에도 약 25개의 경우의 수에 따라 개성에 맞는 선글라스를 매칭하고 커스터마이징할 수 있다. 매력적인 투톤 칼라 렌즈 및 블랙편광, 스카이블루, 진블루, 레드, 골드, 실버의 6색 옵션이 있는 폴리코어 사의 CR-39미러렌즈를 채택해 빛 반사와 눈부심을 완전 차단하고, 하드코팅으로 견고하게 마감 처리한 렌즈는 먼지와 바람, 온도변화가 동반되는 어떤 야외 활동에도 적합하다.

사이즈와 색상 선택폭이 높아 미국, 중국 등 세계시장 진출 청신호
윤 대표는 켄블락코리아의 시장 점유를 위해 2015년 4월 총판 작업에 들어간 이래, 실용성과 디자인, 선글라스의 기능 모두에 충실하기 위해 콜렉션 1,2, 투톤 시리즈, 보잉, 프리미엄, 스페셜, 카멜레온 시리즈를 출시하였다. “선글라스는 렌즈와 프레임 모두에 전문성을 가져야 경쟁력이 있으며, 켄블락은 순수한 국내 기술로 이 기능들을 이뤄낸 제품들이다. 그리고 눈을 보호하려는 최근 경향에 맞게 생활 선글라스의 모든 멋과 눈 보호 기능을 가졌음을 널리 인정받기를 바란다.” 아울러 켄블락코리아를 알리는 윤 대표의 홍보 방식은 자기PR보다는 후원이라는 형태이기에 유난히 눈에 띈다. “제조를 제외하고 켄블락 브랜드의 유통과 판매, 홍보 및 대리점 모집을 모두 켄블락코리아가 관할하고 있다. 골프로 스포츠와 인연을 맺었기에, 켄블락코리아의 스폰서십으로는 300여 명의 골퍼들 및 원주동부프로미농구단, NC다이노스 야구단을 비롯해 2015더케이페스티벌, 제1회 경기도골프연합회 아마추어 자선골프대회 등을 후원해 왔으며 앞으로는 용인대, 호서대 등 골프 유망주를 향해 후원을 넓혀갈 전망이다. 그리고 유명 연예인, 방송인들에게 협찬하여 스포츠 계 못지않게 일반인들에게 어필할 패션 아이템이라는 좋은 착용후기반응을 얻고 있다.” 

켄블락 브랜드의 세계 선글라스 시장진출을 선포한 윤 대표는 현재 시스템관리, 공식 홈페이지, 해외 진출을 위한 데이터베이스를 점검 중이다. 현재 60여 개 매장에 관여하고 있으며 향후 국내에 500개 가맹점을 목표로 하고 있는 그는 2016년 중국 산동성 한국명품관, 광동성 쇼핑몰의 입점을 준비하며 미국 올랜드쇼, 동경쇼 등에 켄블락 선글라스를 소개하고 각 나라마다 켄블락코리아의 정식 유통을 거쳐 총판을 만들어 갈 계획이라고 한다. “골프 피팅과 선글라스 사업은 전혀 달라 보이지만 제품의 스펙을 사용자에게 가장 적합한 상태로 만들어 준다는 점은 비슷하다. 켄블락의 선글라스는 선수들, 야외 액티비티, 셀렙 및 일반 선글라스 애호가들 모두를 아우를 수 있는 디자인과 기능으로 승부한다. 3가지 사이즈와 수백 가지 색상은 성별과 연령은 물론, 세계의 인종마다 다른 안면 골격과 눈동자 색상에도 충분히 어필할 자신감을 만들어 준다” 규격화된 클럽을 프로들에게 맞는 피팅으로 특별하게 만들어 준 윤 대표, 이제 그는 개개인 맞춤형이 가능해진 선글라스 피팅 브랜드인 켄블락의 이름을 전 세계에 각인시킬 준비를 마쳤다.

Chameleon Sunglasses protect eyes

They completely cut off the reflection of the sunlight and dazzling and their hard coating make you active outdoor even in constant changes of dust, wind and temperature," 

Various sizes and colours attract global consumers
Since the opening of the business in April 2015, Yoon has released competitive series of models including 1,2 Two Tone, Boeing, Premium, Special and Chameleon. He said "Lens and frame are both important for good sunglasses and Ken Block sunglasses are all made by domestic technology that has eye protection functions." He continued "Apart from manufacturing, we manage everything from distribution, sales, marketing and branches. We also have provided sponsorship to 300 golfers, Dongbu Promy, NC Dinos, 2015 The K-Festival and 1st Amateur Charity Golf Championship and will expand our support to golfers at Yongin University and Hoseo University. Our products are receiving a great feedback from many normal and famous people thanks to our offer for celebrities." Currently, Yoon is checking up on system management and homepage renewal in preparation for pioneering overseas market. Ken Block Sunglasses are being sold at 60 stores at the moment and Yoon is ambitious to expand the numbers to 500 in near future by entering the Korean Luxury Goods Store in Shandong and a shopping mall in Guangdong China as well as demonstrating the products at The Oland Show US and The Tokyo Show Japan this year.
