박근혜 대통령, ｢알시시｣ 이집트 대통령과 정상회담 개최
박근혜 대통령은 지난달 3일 오전 ｢압델 파타 사이드 후세인 알시시」(Abdel Fattah Said Hussein El Sisi) 이집트 대통령과 정상회담을 갖고, 경제‧통상, 인프라･에너지, 개발, 교육, 국제무대 협력 방안 등에 대해 폭넓은 의견을 교환했다. 금번 정상회담을 계기로 ｢한-이집트 공동선언｣이 채택되고 30억불 규모의 인프라 파이낸싱 양해각서를 포함한 산업･통상, 교육, 개발, 법무, 항만협력 등 제반 분야에 걸친 협력사업 협정/약정 및 양해각서 총 9건이 서명되는 등 양국관계 심화를 위한 기반이 마련되었다.

박 대통령은 이집트와의 경제협력 수준이 꾸준히 견실한 기조를 유지하고 있음을 의미 있게 생각한다고 하고, 한국과 이집트가 상호 보완적인 경제구조를 갖고 있기 때문에 많은 분야에서 협력을 강화할 수 있는 잠재력이 크고 높은 시너지를 창출할 수 있을 것이라는 기대를 표명했다. ｢알시시｣ 대통령은 이집트인에게 한국은 국민과 정부가 합심하여 위대한 성취를 이뤄낸 모범적인 국가로 알려져 있다고 하고, 이번 방한을 통해 한국의 경험을 배우고 도움을 받기를 기대한다고 하면서, 경제 분야 뿐 아니라 교육, 문화, 역사 등 제 방면에 걸친 폭넓은 교류가 이뤄지기를 바란다고 했다.

박 대통령은 실질 협력 분야로 원전과 新에너지 분야에서의 이집트와의 협력 필요성을 강조하고, 한국과 이집트의 40년간의 인프라 분야 협력 역사를 상기하면서 도로, 철도, 항만과 같은 기존 인프라 분야는 물론 담수화와 같은 새로운 프로젝트 협력도 기대한다고 했다. 특히, 박 대통령은 한국에서 추진 중인 친환경 에너지타운 비즈니스 모델에 대해 상세하게 설명하고 동 모델이 이집트 정부가 추진 중인 신도시 사업 등에도 적용할 수 있을 것으로 본다고 한 데 대해, ｢알시시｣ 대통령은 이 분야에서 높은 기술력을 지닌 한국과 긴밀히 협력해 나가기를 기대한다고 했다.

｢알시시｣ 대통령은 제2 수에즈 운하 개통을 통해 이집트 경제발전을 보다 적극적으로 추진할 예정이라고 하면서, 동 지역이 아프리카, 유럽, 중동을 잇는 요충지임에 주목하여 산업단지 육성과 물류저장센터를 조성하는 계획을 추진 중에 있다고 하고, 한국기업들이 관심을 가져 줄 것을 요망했다.

대통령, 「쏨킷(Somkid)」태국 경제부총리 접견
박근혜 대통령은 제1차 한-태국 경제협력위원회 참석을 위해 방한한「쏨킷 짜뚜씨피탁」(Somkid Jatusripitak) 태국 경제부총리를 22일 접견하고, 상호관심사에 대해 논의했다. 박 대통령은 태국이 한국전 참전국으로 우리나라의 오랜 친구이며, 최근 들어 양국간 인적교류 및 문화교류 등 다양한 분야에서의 협력 확대를 통해「전략적 동반자 관계」가 내실화되고 있는 것에 대해 기쁘게 생각한다고 했다. 특히, 「쏨킷」부총리가 금일 오후 제1차 한-태국 경제협력위원회 등의 일정을 통해 양국 간 경제협력 활성화를 위한 여러 방안에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 이루어지기를 기대한다고 했다.

「쏨킷」부총리는「쁘라윳」총리의 대통령님에 대한 각별한 안부와 함께 총리 친서를 전달하고, 태국측은 한·태 양국 간의「전략적 동반자 관계」를 소중히 여기며, 무역·투자 분야에서는 양국 간 협력을 확대하기 위한 여지가 충분히 있다고 보고 한층 더 깊은 협력을 희망한다고 했다. 「쏨킷」부총리는 태국 정부가 철도, 전철, 수자원 관리, 항만, 공항, 디지털 경제 등 다양한 인프라 개발 사업을 추진 중이라고 설명하고, 이에 대한 한국 기업들의 투자를 기대한다고 했다. 또한, 디지털, 창조경제, 하이테크, 통신, 전자 등 여러 분야에서 특별경제구역 및 산업클러스터를 발전시키고자 하며, 이러한 분야에서 많은 경험과 지식을 축적한 한국 측과의 협력을 희망한다고 했다.

「쏨킷」부총리는「쁘라윳」총리가 한국의 투자자들이 이러한 대규모 사업에 참여하기를 기대하고 있으며, 한국 투자자들의 애로 해소를 위해 태국 정부가 필요한 모든 노력을 기울일 것이라고 언급하는 등 한국과의 경제협력 확대에 대해 큰 관심과 의지를 갖고 있다고 했다. 박 대통령은 한국의 사정을 잘 이해하고, 한국에 대해 많은 관심과 애정을 갖으신「쁘라윳」총리의 호의에 대해 사의를 표하고, 한·태 양국 간 경제협력의 잠재력이 충분히 발휘될 수 있도록 노력해나가겠다고 했다. 박 대통령은 제조업을 물론 스마트시티, 창조경제, 산업클러스터 등 여러 차세대 유망 분야에서의 협력을 기대하며,「쏨킷」부총리의 방한 기간 중 창조경제 관련 기관 방문 등을 통해 아이디어를 얻기를 바란다고 했다. 또한, 한국 기업의 對태국 투자 확대를 위해 태국 정부가 관련 정보를 제공해주면 더욱 많은 우리 기업들이 참여할 수 있도록 가교 역할을 하겠다고 했다.

「쏨킷」부총리는 창업기업에 대한 지원은 미래를 위한 투자이며, 금번 방한기간 중 창조경제 관련 일정을 이미 포함시켰으며, 이를 위한 지원체계를 현실화하고 발전시킬 수 있는 한국정부의 추진력을 높이 평가하면서, 이는 나무 몇 그루로 시작하여 큰 숲을 키운 것과 같다고 했다. 아울러,「쏨킷」부총리는 태국 정부가 한반도의 어려운 상황을 잘 이해하고 있으며, 유엔안보리의 대북제재 결의안 이행 등 북한의 태도를 변화시키려는 국제사회의 노력에 적극 동참하면서 한국 정부의 대북정책에 대해 계속 지지해 나가겠다고 했다.

President Park held a summit with Egyptian President El-Sisi at the Blue House on 3 last month. The two leaders exchanged opinions on economy, trade, social infrastructure, energy, development, education and international cooperation. As a result, they adopted 'Korea-Egypt Joint Declaration' and have signed 9 agreements and MOUs in trade, education, development, laws and harbor worth USD $1 billion. Park said "Both countries have complementary economic structure as well as potential to cooperate in many fields. We could generate a high level of synergy, if we keep strengthening the cooperation." El-Sisi in respond said "For many Egyptians, Koreans are those who achieved the Miracle of the Han River. This summit talk will be a momentum for us to learn about Korea's experience and knowhow and I hope that the two countries keep continuing cooperation and exchanges that cover many fields and industries." Park particularly emphasized on cooperation in nuclear facilities, new energy and desalination in addition to its 40 years of cooperation in infrastructure (roads, railways and harbors) between the two countries. Park then explained about Korea's ongoing business model of Eco-friendly Energy Town in detail and implied that the model could be an inspiration for Egypt's new town projects currently in full swing. El-Sisi answered that Korea's cutting edge technology in the field will be a good source of development and he would expect a close cooperation. El-Sisi continued "We will push forward national economic development by opening the second Suez Canal which is located at the strategic point that connects Africa, Europe and the Middle East and we are also currently working on building industrial complex and logistics centers in and around the canal. I hope more Korean companies' actively participation in our development projects." 

Park receives Somkid, Deputy Prime Minister of Economic Affairs 
President Park had a meeting with Somkid, Thai Deputy Prime Minister of Economic Affairs on 22 last month, who visited Korea to attend The 1st Meeting of Korea-Thailand Committee on Economic Cooperation, and discussed on the fields of mutual interest. Park mentioned that Thailand fought on our side in the Korean War and she was really pleased that the strategic partnership between the two countries was strengthening than ever before through active cooperation and exchange in various fields. Somkid in respond delivered cordial greetings and a personal letter of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and said that Thailand values the strategic partnership very highly and hopes more active cooperation and exchange would be pushed forward in various fields. Somkid said that Thailand currently was carrying out infrastructural development such as railway, subway, water resource, harbor and airport and hoped Korean companies' active investment and participation. He also mentioned that Thailand was aiming at developing digital industry, creative economy, high technology, communication and electronics as well as building special economic zone and industrial cluster and they needed Korea's cutting edge technology, knowhow and experience in the fields and the Thai government would provide an ideal investment and business environment for Korean companies. Park answered that she was thankful for Prime Minister's interest and will to work together in cooperation and she would provide an unsparing effort and support for cooperation and exchange especially in manufacturing industry, smart city, creative economy, industrial cluster and next generation industry and hoped that this meeting would be a momentum for Thailand to have many ideas by visiting related government institutions and organizations. Somkid said in respond that visiting Creative Economy Innovation Center in particular was one of main schedules of the visit and he would adopt and apply the knowhow and experience for the development of Thai economy. Somkid added that Thailand would keep support South Korea's policy on North Korea in accordance with the UNSC resolutions.
