Delivering passion and dream to young generation
Director Chi Sung-young of Junior Chamber International Daejeon

Chi, "Our future depends on capabilities of young generation"
The matter of national and social development is not the subject for a few specialists in the field but for all of us. Young generations in this respect are particularly important for creating a better nation and society. Established by an American Henry Giessenbier, JCI (Junior Chamber International) is an international private organization inviting the members aged 20 to 45 from all over the world regardless their nationality, religion, sex and occupation under the three main aims: Leadership Capability, Regional Development, International Exchange. JCI Daejeon opened its door in 1967 and was officially recognized in 1993 and currently runs 9 bodies including JCI Daejeon Daedeok, JCI Daejeon Dunsan, East, West, North and South Daejeon JCI, Yousung JCI and Hanbak JCI. JCI Daejeon has total 280 members which is relatively small but it is second to none in terms of its activities in regional development and capabilities. The current director ChiSung-young of the JCI Daejeon was inaugurated as the 22nd director last February and he set up his three management key words; Active Communication, Self Development, Extensive Exchange. Chi said "I have run my own business MODO Korea in the city and always had a thirst for communication with my generation. Then I came to know about JCI and I think it's an ideal regional organization for communication and self development of young generation." He continued "JCI helps members find their capability and grow through various departments. It runs effective cooperation systems with the support of related organizations and members can participate in various voluntary activities and international exchange programmes. JCI Daejeon values high the opinions of members and decision is made through democratic meetings."

Cultivating leadership in mutual respect
Communication and network are the two most important things for JCI Daejeon. Chi said "It's only natural that an organization has problems. The important thing is effective communication and network between each member of the organization. That's why I value very high of regular meeting. It prevents dogmatism but promotes the justification and usefulness of each project through research and presentation. The human resource network we built is very effective and members can not only develop one's own capabilities but our common projects together through sharing experience and knowhow." Chi runs a trade consulting company MODO Korea which helps Korean companies sell products or enter the Chinese market. Chi said "I've seen many business owners who suffered from loss or fraud due to lack of knowledge about China and the Chinese market. My company has a close cooperative relationship with various Chinese government organizations and can provide effective help and consulting for Korean companies." Meanwhile, Chi is almost ready to open an exclusive distribution center in China and the center will include cultural and exhibition facilities to encourage sales and technology transfer. Chi added that our future depended on capabilities of young generation and hoped that more young people would join JCI Daejeon to share dream and success together.
