경상남도 고성군, 2016경남고성공룡세계엑스포 개최
국내에 한 번도 전시 된 적 없는 살아 있는 공룡의 후예 ‘슈빌’이 백악기 시대 공룡들이 번성했던 조상의 땅 2016경남고성공룡세계엑스포 행사장을 찾아온다. (재)경남고성공룡세계엑스포조직위(위원장 최평호)는 아프리카에서 구입한 ‘슈빌’ 암·수 2마리가 일본 나리타공항을 출발해 인천공항에 도착 후 농림축산검역본부(인천공항지역본부)계류장을 거쳐 공룡엑스포행사장에 도착했다. 슈빌은 사다새목의 넓적부리황새과(Balaenicipitidae)에 속하는 조류로 키는 115∼150cm이고 날개를 편 몸의 길이는 최고 230∼260cm에 달한다. 영어 명칭인 슈빌(Shoebill)은 부리가 구두(shoe)를 닮은 것에서 비롯된 이름으로 아프리카의 파피루스가 무성한 습지에 서식하며 주로 물고기, 개구리 같은 파충류를 먹고 새끼 악어를 잡아먹기도 한다. 싱가포르, 일본에 이어 아시아에서 세 번째로 공룡엑스포행사장에 전시되는 ‘슈빌’은 국제 자연 보전 연맹(IUCN)의 적색 목록 중 멸종 위기 취약(VU) 등급으로 지정되어 있는 등 그 희소성만큼 만나기 어려운 동물이다. 엑스포 조직위는 행사 기간 중(2016. 4. 1 ∼ 6. 12.) 공룡의 후예 ‘슈빌’ 뿐만 아니라 인어를 연상시키는 어류 ‘매너티’ 세 마리와 전 세계에 20마리뿐인 ‘알비노 악어’, ‘독일 자이언트 토끼’, 미국 너구리 ‘라쿤’, ‘청금강 앵무’ 등 희귀한 동물과 길이 4M 대형 뱀, 아프리카 열대어 등 다양한 종을 디노아쿠아리움에서 만날 수 있다고 밝혔다.

디노아쿠아리움은 유료관으로 운영되며 한국관, 고대어관, 양서파충류관, 포유류관 등 4개 테마존으로 구성돼 있다. 엑스포 입장권과 패키지로 발권 시 성인 4000원, 청소년 3000원, 어린이는 2000원에 관람 할 수 있다. 디노아쿠아리움 운영 관계자는 “2016경남고성공룡세계엑스포행사장에서 국내 최초로 전시되는 슈빌은 실존하는 동물 중 가장 공룡과 흡사한 것으로 알려져 있어 공룡을 좋아하는 어린이에게 큰 호응을 얻을 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.

고성군 마암수출농단 경상남도 최우수 농단 선정 쾌거
고성군 최평호 군수는 지난 달 29일 경남도청 대회의실에서 개최된 ‘제20회 경상남도 농수산물 수출탑 시상식’에서 1개 농단·12개 농가 및 업체가 2개 부문에서 수상의 영예를 안았다고 밝혔다. 이날 시상식에서 고성마암수출농단(대표 김경환, 파프리카)은 주변여건 변화 속에서도 수출에 전념하는 농단으로 인정받아 경남 최고수출농단 부문에 유일하게 선정, 최고수출농단 증서와 상사업비 5000만원을 수상했다.

이는 농수산물 수출 활성화를 위한 고성군의 우수한 농정 시책과 지속적인 지원이 뒷받침된 결과로 풀이된다. 군은 세계시장 개방화 속에서도 경쟁력 있는 농업 육성에 크게 기여하기 위해 일본 시장 중심에서 벗어나 유럽 신규 시장 진출 및 동남아시아·중국 시장 등 새로운 판로를 개척하고 다양한 시책들을 지원하는데 주력했다. 그 결과 새송이 버섯 및 가공식품(쌀전병)의 신규 수출, 농산물 수출 실적 전년대비 32% 증가 성과 거양, 2년간 지속된 엔저 현상 속에서도 일본 수출 실적 전년 대비 1010천 불 증가한 5747천 달러 달성 등의 성과를 거뒀다. 이날 시상식에 참석한 이정곤 부군수는 “이번 제20회 경상남도 농수산물 수출탑 시상식에서 거둔 실적을 바탕으로 신규 수출 시책 발굴, 수출 유망 품목 선정 및 집중 육성 등 농수산물 수출에 더욱 박차를 가하겠다”며 “수출 농산물 안전성 관리 또한 더욱 철저히 해 수출 농업의 경쟁력 강화에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Goseong holds Goseong Dinosaur World Expo 2016
Shoebill, never shown herself in Korea, is to be exhibited at Goseong Dinosaur World Expo 2016. The head of organizing body Choi Pyeong-ho said "We bought a couple of Shoebill from Africa. The couple passed quarantine in Incheon International Airport and safely arrived in Goseong. Introducing Shoebill, the birds belong to the Balaenicipitidae family, 1.15 to 1.50 meter tall and 2.3 to 2.6 meters in width on spreading the wings. The English name Shoebill comes from its shoe-like beak and they mainly live in wetland in Africa eating fish and reptiles like frogs and baby crocodile. They are designated as endangered animals by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resource, and Korea exhibits Shoebill as the third country in Asia after Singapore and Japan." During the expo (1 April to 12 June), visitors can meet various interesting animals such as manatee (marine mammals), albino crocodile (only 20 left in the world), German giant rabbit, American racoon, blue & yellow parrots, 4 meter-long snake and African tropical fish. The expo is consisted of 4 themed zones; Korean Hall, Ancient Fish Hall, Amphibian & Reptile Hall and Mammals Hall in addition to Dino Aquarium (admission fee). When you buy tickets in group, it cost KRW 4,000 for adult, 3,000 for youth and 2,000 for children. An official of the managing body said "Shoebill is known to be the animal closest to dinosaurs still alive on earth and it will be the star of the expo especially for children visitors."

Goseong Maam Export Agricultural Complex wins the best prize
Goseong County Mayor Choi Pyeong-ho said that Goseong Maam Export Agricultural Complex (12 farm houses) won the best prize in two categories at 20th South Gyeongsang Province Agricultural and Marine Products Export Award' held on 29 March for excellent agricultural policies and continuous support. The complex (headed by Kim Gyeong-hwan, Paprika) received Excellent Export Agricultural Complex Certificate with money prize of KRW 50 million. The county has provided an active support with the vision of pioneering new markets in South East Asia and China through comprehensive and diversified programmes. As a result, the export volume of King Oyster Mushroom and Rice Pancake increased by 32% on last year with US $5,747 sales on export to Japan which is a $1,010 increase on last year. Lee Jeong-gon, Deputy Mayor of the county said "Taking our great achievement as a momentum, we will keep pushing forward our effective policies and programmes in order to further increase the volume of export."
