박근혜 대통령, ‘새로운 대한민국, 여성이 만들어가겠습니다!’
박근혜 대통령은 지난달 7일 2016년 여성 신년인사회에 참석해 각 분야별 여성 지도자와 청년 여성 등 500명의 참석자와 새해 인사를 나누었다. 박 대통령은 북한의 4차 핵실험과 관련해 정부가 국제사회와 협력하면서 적절한 대응조치를 취해 나갈 것이라고 밝혔다. 이런 때일수록 여성 지도자들이 앞장서서 가정과 사회에서 분열 및 혼란이 일어나지 않도록 힘과 지혜를 모아주길 당부하며 인사 말씀을 시작했다.

아직도 우리 여성의 경제활동 참가율은 선진국에 미치지 못하고, 경력단절 여성이 해마다 증가하고 있다. 박근혜 대통령은 여성들이 꿈을 갖고 역량을 마음껏 발휘하는 사회가 되어야 진정한 선진국에 진입도 가능하다고 말했다. 정부가 일과 가정의 양립을 위해 다양한 제도를 개선하고 기업 인식을 전환한 결과로 육아기 근로시간 단축 신청자가 두 배 가까이 늘었고, 시간 선택제 일자리도 30% 가까이 증가했다. 또, 아빠의 달 육아휴직을 확대, 국공립 어린이집 확대, 맞춤형 보육 실시 등을 통해 일하는 엄마들의 고충도 덜 수 있었던 한 해였다.

그런 노력들이 모여 작년 10월 말 기준으로 여성경제활동 참가율이 역대 최고치를 기록했다. 박근혜 대통령은 새해에도 여성의 행복을 위한 노력을 지속해나갈 것이라며 특히 일하는 여성들을 위한 정책들을 한층 더 발전시켜 나갈 것이라고 말했다. 또한 중소기업과 비정규직 등 일·가정 양립의 사각지대를 해소하고, 장시간 근로 관행을 바꿔가고, 고용복지플러스센터를 중심으로 경력단절 여성의 재취업을 지원하겠다고 전했다.

박근혜 대통령은 연휴 뒤 첫 일정으로 신년인사회를 갖고 새해 국정 운영에 시동을 걸었다. 박 대통령은 정치가 국민을 위한 일에 앞장서야 하고, 국민의 민생에 모든 것을 걸어줘야 한다고 언급하며 “지금 정치권이 스스로의 개혁에 앞장서서 변화하여야 한다고 생각한다”라고 강조했다.

이날 신년인사회에는 국회의장과 대법원장, 헌법재판소장 등 5부 요인과 여당 지도부, 정부 부처 장관 등이 참석했다. 새해를 맞아 작년 한해의 국정 운영을 점검하고 새로운 의지를 모으는 자리였다. 지난 2015년에는 공무원 연금 개혁과 17년 만의 노사정 대타협으로 공공개혁과 노동개혁에 있어 큰 걸음을 내디뎠다. 또한, 주요 국가들과의 FTA 확대 등을 통해 우리나라의 경제영토를 넓힘으로써 국가신용등급 역대 최고를 기록할 수 있었다. 이날 박근혜 대통령은 “새해에도 우리 앞에 놓인 도전이 만만치가 않다”라고 언급하며 잠시도 마음을 놓기 어렵다고 말했다.

박 대통령은 “10년 뒤 우리나라가 무엇으로 먹고 살지, 우리 청년들이 어떤 일자리를 잡고 살아가야 할지를 생각할 때마다 두려운 마음이 든다”라고 밝히며, 그 때마다 경제혁신 3개년 계획을 성공적으로 마무리하고, 4대 구조개혁을 반드시 완수해야 한다는 절박감이 생긴다고 말했다. 끝으로 박 대통령은 국민의 삶을 돌보는 참된 정치를 실천에 옮겨서 국민의 사랑과 신뢰를 회복하길 기대하고, 공직자들은 부패척결과 비정상의 정상화 작업을 추진해서 ‘기본이 바로 선 사회’를 만들어가는 데 앞장서 주기를 주문했다.

Park, "New Korea, we, women, will make it“
President Park attended the New Year Meeting of Women on 7 last month. 500 women including leaders in various professions participated in the event. Park mentioned first that she, with international society, would take a strong measure against the 4th nuclear test of the North and asked the women leaders to do their roles steadfastly. The rate of Korean women's economic activities are still low compared to advanced countries and there also is an increasing number of career discontinuity due to particularly child-rearing. To improve the situation, Park carried out certain measures to change social recognition on career women while reducing the working hour during pregnancy and child-rearing and increased the number of jobs customized for women by 30%. The Park Government also has expanded paternity leave in addition to maternity one as well as day care centers and customized child-rearing systems. As a result, the rate of women's participation in economic activities increased record high by October last year. Park added that the government would keep doing its effort in promoting female power in our society by improving and providing various related programmes and welfare systems. 

Park draws up 'Innovation 2016 for Future Generation’
Park gave a new year's greetings. She delivered her message that politicians should focus on what the people need and want and take initiative in reforming and innovating themselves and the current political systems. Numerous government officials including the Chairman of the National Assembly, the Head of Constitutional Court and the leaders of the ruling party attended the new year's gathering. Park reviewed the last year's performance and suggested ways for a new year. She pointed out that the government took a big step forward in public official's annuity and the Korea Tripartite's great compromise in 17 years as well as expanded FTA with major economic countries. Park said "Now we are facing a new challenge. I feel troubled by thinking how we survive and how our young generations could get a proper job after 10 years. But we have 3 Economic Reform Plans and 4 Structural Reforms and I'm sure we can break through the hardships we might encounter in the coming years. For this, we have to work together in honestness, transparency,  passion and determination."
