KOTRA heads of trade centers in China gather together and suggest a new market strategy
China currently is experiencing a drop in stock market as well as devaluation of the currency. To break through the situation, 19 KOTRA heads of trade centers in China gathered together in Xi'an on 18 January and suggested a new market strategy to find ways for export.  Xi'an is the home town of Chinese President Xi Jinping and is the starting point of his largest scale national project in the whole Chinese history called 'One Belt, One Road'. To take this advantage, KOTRA plans to hold 'Korea-China FTA Expo' this Month at COEX, Seoul and invite 200 Chinese network and power vender companies. KOTRA also plans to hold 'K-Product Expo' in Shenyang, China where the Chinese's love of K-Wave is in full swing. In addition, KOTRA decided to open three more 'e-Commerce and Distribution Support Center in China to meet the demand on direct buying online and 'Returning Goods Processing Center' in Weihai, Shanghai to support B2C. Other projects include combining China's capital with Korea's technology and launching 'Itinerant IR for 15 Major Cities' and 'Korea Investment Guide' with the support of the Chinese Department of Commerce and local governments. Kim Jae-hong, CEO of KOTRA, said "China is experiencing economic down turn at the moment but we can find ways for Korean companies to make profits in the market if we focus on the rapidly growing domestic market in China and its large scale projects backed up by Korea-China FTA.“

KOTRA to open Korean Pavilion at CES 2016
CEO Kim Jae-hong of KOTRA participated in CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 held in La Vegas by opening a Korean Pavilion on 6 last month local time. Displayed in the pavilion were creative and innovative products made by 35 excellent Korean SMEs. Numerous home appliances loaded with new technologies are pouring into the US market at the moment this year in accordance with growing domestic economy and CES this time invited 3,600 companies from 150 countries with more than 165,000 visitors which marked the largest scale in history. Products relating to IoT, electronic devices for vehicle, smarthome and wearables attracted a great attention during the show. To use this opportunity to the fullest, KOTRA invited 400 global wholesale and retail companies such as Walmart, Amazon, Newegg, Target and Costco to the pavilion and carried out 1:1 business consulting. The largest IT e-commerce company in North America 'Newegg' in particular appointed 8th Friday last month as Newegg Day and sent three buyers to the pavilion to discuss about buying and outsourcing with Korean companies. Gwon Oh-suk, Head of KOTRA Business Center Los Angeles said "There is a fierce technology competition between Korea, China and Japan at this time in CES. However, we will actively invite promising buyers to the pavilion to provide comprehensive 1:1 business matching services."
