‘Learning maths is a process of solving programs“

Internalizing Programme to enhance a sense of accomplishment
Maths is a study that requires thinking. We improve our thinking and problem solving abilities by learning maths. Korean maths education, however, rather has focused on calculation than those two above mentioned and it discouraged much the students who have less interest in studying. To improve the situation, the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation announced that it set the exam questions for the KSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) that can increase student's comprehensive thinking ability. As a result, it said, the level of difficulty had increased than previous year. Opened in Songdo, Incheon in 2013, Nornza Frame Mathematics (NFM) has been pursuing quality maths education by introducing a new paradigm. CEO Lee emphasizes on self-directed learning and self-problem solving abilities as the recently changed KSAT is built based on this idea and for this Lee developed his unique 'Internalizing Programme'. The programme is divided into three stages: 'Preparation Stage' to improve concentration and participation, 'Conceptualization Stage' to improve problem solving ability and 'Making It Your Own Stage'. Students going through these three stages for more than 6 months have shown an increase in academic scores by 20 to 30 and a shift to 4 to 5 degrees from 2 to 3 degrees in the KSAT. 

Pursuing a perfect education through raising thinking ability and understandability
CEO Lee continues "Shortening the contents of the textbook cannot be a solution to improve the performance of weak students in maths but self-directed learning is. It is a method that improves the drawbacks of the existing methods and can also improve student's thinking ability as well as give them a motivation." Lee's Internalizing Programme uses Preparation Stage, Conceptualization Stage and Making It Your Own Stage (problem solving strategic note)'. It is built based on mathematician Polya's 'Four Stages of Problem Solving' but with added element: Conceptualization Stage. It can naturally help students to improve their thinking ability according to Lee. Currently, Lee and his team are working on developing a variety of teaching materials to provide them at reasonable prices as most related materials in the current market lack in diversity but high in price. NFM has already developed a teaching material by using sorghum straw and is working on revision before releasing. Lee says "School curriculum will keep changing and both teacher and students need to bear this in mind. The important thing is that we need an education that can make mathematics as a tool to improve students's abilities. The government also need to clearly explain the revised KSAT to both students and school parents." Power Korea wishes Lee and NFM a prosperous 2016.
