Introducing customized personnel management
Labor attorneys basically carry out two jobs: business advice and solving labor problems. The former includes welfare, payment, payroll outsourcing, human resource, collective bargaining, settling down disputes. The latter includes wrongful dismissal, overdue wages, unfair treatment to temporary workers and industrial accident. Among many other service providers, DAHYUN labor, in particular, boasts certified labor attorneys and provides differentiated services. 

CEO Gwangtae Kim of DAHYUN labor obtained CTP (Certified Turnaround Professional) from KTMA (Korea Turnaround Management Association) in July this year and is providing optimum solutions for companies and workers suffering from labor disputes. He is also serving as a member of Human Resources and Labor Management Advisory Committee of Korea Mech.Const.Constractors Association (one of top three associations in the field) and is providing unique knowhow in payroll outsourcing services. According to a research, more than 80% of companies in the US and 50% in Japan are doing payroll outsourcing while Korea has only 10%. However, Kim predicts that Korea will gradually follow the US and Japan and he is preparing for it. DAHYUN labor also systematically manages foreign company’s human resources management. Kim said “Due to different legal systems, foreign companies are having difficulty in opening business in Korea. That’s why we opened a branch in Gwanghwamun where numerous offices of foreign companies are operating and all of our services are provided in English.” 

Making small but bigger change
Many individual labors are vulnerable when it comes to legal disputes especially over industrial accident and they tend to give up easily. CEO Kim said “I had a case of a first year resident laborer with acute hepatic insufficiency caused by overwork. In order to overturn the judge’s disapproval on industrial accident at the first round, I thoroughly researched on related cases of Germany and France and I was desperate to win the case as my client’s liver function dropped to 60% impossible to carry on his duty. Luckily, we won the case and it was the very first winning in the case in Korea.”

Kim continued “keeping the balance as a certified labor attorney is very important. Certified labor attorney should be a good listener and have to play the role as an arbitrator between management and labor in order to draw a rational decision.” DAHYUN labor’s goal is to change society. CEO Kim said “First of all, I want to make a fair and efficient work environment with good pay and welfare in the company so that our staff can work like a family. Then we, as a team, can contribute to creating a better society with our professionalism in the field.” 

Partnership between management and labor is very important for social development. CEO Kim said “People normally have negative images on both management and union. And in fact, some unions ask unreasonable pay rise without considering the company’s financial situation. Likewise, some management treats laborers like a part of machine and wrongly uses regulations against them. In order for both parties to grow together, cooperation and rational settling down of disputes are much needed and we are here to help them with the best solution.” Power Korea hopes that DAHYUN labor will keep contributing to creating a better society.
