Dreaming of beautiful buildings with sleek lines
“I will design more buildings for common people”

Dreaming of beautiful buildings with sleek lines
CEO Myeonggu Joo of Jisunjae is a famous architect in Busan and Gyeongnam Province. He carried out several projects including head office building of Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives in Hwamyeong-dong and Infant Care Center in Sasang District in Busan. He won the grand prize at 2014 Sasang Architecture Awards in the General Architecture category, the runner up prize for Yoon Clan’s Shopping Mall Construction and the runner up prize at Songjeong Community Center Building Project. However, Joo did not have much passion in architecture at first although it was his major. But meeting an architect Ryeong Kim changed his life.
Joo says “I learned a lot about the role of regional architects and life from Kim for 10 years. And I fell in love with making someone’s dream space into reality.” Joo then worked for Samdo Architecture in Busan and Kiyong Architecture in Seoul and carried out building the Former President Roh Moo-hyun’s private residence in Bongha Village, Gimhae and the Gimhae Miraculous Library. Kiyong Jeong (deceased), who made a history in Korean public buildings, supervised the former project. Joo says “I still can’t forget the lines of the eaves hanging over the sunset. And the scene inspired me what kind of building I wanted to create. They were beautiful buildings with sleek lines.” For this reason, Joo gave the name ‘Jisunjae’ for his business. Joo also found an inspiration from Gimhae Miraculous Library. He says “I learned from Kim that it is worth being an architect who makes more buildings for public.”
Making a space where every body’s happy
People dream of having their own house. Joo knows very well about this and wants to make their dream come true. He says “Nobody is born to be a genius architect. The harder they work the better the building. They have to study hard and build their ability to have an insightful eye. That’s my idea.” Joo also thinks that it is very important to make a good working environment for his staff. He says “There’s a high turnover rate in this field. Many of them want to work in Seoul. It is also regretful that I can’t pay satisfactory salary for them. But I’m doing my best with what I have and what I can to provide a good working environment for them. I hope more junior architects will work in a better environment and I want to help them and grow together and give more opportunities so that they can contribute to the development of Korean architecture.”
