삼성전자, 미래부와 주니어 소프트웨어 창작대회 ‘부트캠프’ 개최
삼성전자가 제 1회 ‘주니어 소프트웨어 창작대회(Junior Software Cup)’ 본선 진출 60팀을 대상으로 ‘부트캠프(Boot Camp)’를 개최했다. 삼성전자가 미래창조과학부와(이하 미래부) 공동 주최하고, 한국과학창의재단과 공동 주관하는 ‘주니어 소프트웨어 창작대회’는 차세대 소프트웨어 인재를 발굴하고 양성하기 위해 올해 처음 운영되는 소프트웨어 공모전이다. 

이번 공모전에는 ‘가족을 위한 소프트웨어’를 주제로 초(4학년 이상)·중·고 학생들이 제안한 1,000여 건의 예선작 가운데 60개 작품이 16대 1의 경쟁률을 뚫고 본선에 진출했다. 본선 진출팀 학생과 지도교사 190여명은 9월 19일과 20일, 이틀간 경기도 용인 삼성전자 인재개발원에서 열린 부트캠프에 참가했다. 삼성전자 임직원 40명도 부트캠프에 멘토로 참가해, 학생들이 아이디어를 실현할 수 있도록 소프트웨어 개발·서비스 기획·UX 등 전문 분야에서 멘토링을 제공했다. 멘토로 참가한 삼성전자 가기환 선임은 “학생들이 자신의 주관을 갖고 깊이 고민하는 모습이 어른스럽다”며, “우리나라 소프트웨어 산업의 미래가 밝은 것 같다”고 말했다. 학생들이 소프트웨어에 대한 시각을 넓힐 수 있도록 각 분야 전문가들이 미디어 아트·빅데이터·의료 서비스 등과 소프트웨어가 접목된 사례를 소개하는 다양한 특강도 마련됐다. 오는 11월 13일, 본선에 진출한 60팀 가운데 심사를 거쳐 대상 2팀, 최우수상 6팀, 우수상 6팀, 지도교사 2명에게는 총 5,700만원 상당의 상금과 부상이 수여되며, 소프트웨어 심화 교육도 제공될 예정이다. 한편, 삼성전자는 2013년부터 ‘주니어 소프트웨어 아카데미’를 운영해 국내 소프트웨어 교육 저변 확대에 힘써왔으며, 2015년까지 ‘주니어 소프트웨어 아카데미’를 통해 초·중·고교생 2만여 명에게 소프트웨어 교육을 제공할 계획이다.

삼성전자 슈퍼 프리미엄 냉장고 셰프컬렉션이 소비자들로부터 큰 호응을 얻으며 판매 고공행진을 이어가고 있다. 8월 한 달간 셰프컬렉션 판매량은 삼성전자가 지난 8월 14일부터 하고 있는 ‘힘내라 대한민국 감사대축제’ 보상 판매 이벤트 등으로 인해 전년 동기간 대비 약 40% 이상 증가했다. 또 15년 상반기 월평균 판매량 대비 약 35% 늘었으며, 국내 셰프컬렉션 총 누적판매량이 3만대를 훌쩍 넘어서는 등 슈퍼 프리미엄 냉장고의 인기가 식을 줄 모르고 있다. 9월 말까지 진행하는 보상 판매 이벤트는 셰프컬렉션을 구매하고 브랜드에 상관없이 김치냉장고를 제외한 100리터 이상의 구형 냉장고를 반납하는 고객에게 최대 30만 원 상당의 보상 혜택을 제공해 셰프컬렉션 구매를 위한 최고의 기회다. 또 동일 기간 동안 셰프컬렉션 행사모델을 구매하는 고객에게 80만원 상당의 프리미엄 로봇청소기 ‘삼성 파워봇’ 또는 독일 주방브랜드 휘슬러 주방용품 3종 세트를 추가 증정한다. 셰프컬렉션은 온도의 편차를 ±0.5℃ 이내로 유지하는 ‘셰프 모드’와 냉장실·냉동실·참맛 냉동실에서 각각의 냉각기를 채용한 ‘트리플 독립 냉각’, 메탈 소재의 냉장실 내벽으로 냉기를 지속해서 유지하는 ‘메탈쿨링 시스템’ 등 다양한 미세정온기술이 적용된 삼성전자 슈퍼 프리미엄 냉장고다. 

삼성전자 한국총괄 박재천 상무는 “건강한 집밥의 기본인 식재료의 신선함을 오랫동안 유지시켜주는 셰프컬렉션의 인기가 날이 갈수록 높아지고 있다”며, “더욱 많은 소비자들이 셰프컬렉션의 혁신적인 미세정온기술을 경험하길 바란다”고 말했다.

Samsung Electronics and Ministry of ICT, Science and Future Planning held The 1st Junior Software Cup (Boot Camp) for 60 selected teams. Also sponsored by Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, the event fosters talented people who will lead the next generation software industry in Korea. Under the title ‘Software for Family’, 1,000 ideas of students were submitted and only 60 were selected for the final. The 190 finalists (including guidance teacher) participated in the Boot Camp for 2 days on 19 – 20 September. 40 of Samsung’s executive staff also participated in the camp to provide appropriate advice and mentoring. A senior staff of Samsung Kihwan Ga said “It is remarkable that the students have their own ideas and development plans. I feel that Korea’s software industry is as bright as their brilliant ideas.” There also was a lecture about the case on media art, big data and medical service being combined with software. On November 13, the final winners of 2 top prizes, 6 excellent prizes, 6 runner-up prizes and 2 guidance teacher prizes will receive a share of $50,000 as well as additional gifts and a chance to attend the advanced software training program. Samsung Electronics also started ‘Junior Software Academy’ in 2013 and is planning to provide related training for 20,000 students by the end of this year.

Samsung Electronics’ super premium refrigerator Chef Collection is creating a sensation in the market. Backed up by the promotional event ‘Cheer-up Korea Thanks Trade-in Sales’ starting August 14, the sales of Chef Collection has increased by 40%. It is a 35% increase in the sales of the first half of the year over the last 15 years and 30,000 Chef Collection has been sold so far.
