Daon 3D Printing Department CEO Donghyeok Na
Leading the 3D printing market in Korea
Introducing 3D printing course for children
Preparing for the advent of 4D printing
Leading the 3D printing market in Korea

Partnering with the Industry-academic Cooperation Group of Engineering College at Chonnam National University and Chosun College of Science & Technology
The 3D printing market is rapidly growing. The size of the market reached US$2.2B in 2013, $4B in 2014 and is expected to be $5.9B this year. If keeping up the pace, it will be $49B by 2025 experts say. Daon 3D Printing Department CEO Donghyeok Na said "It is a highly promising industry both home and abroad. The Korean government introduced 3.0 Vision to activate the industry but we need to understand what really is 3D printing." The department was chosen as the organizer of the 3D Experience Zone at Gwangju ACE Fair held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Gaining momentum by this, the department carried out a convergence of Cubicon (High Vision System's 3D printer) and Cadian 3D (Intel Korea: developer of domestic 3D printer). Also, the department has paired up with Engineering College at Chonnam National University in last March to run a 3D printing lab, and in August with Chosun College of Science & Technology to promote the field.

3D printing industry should be segmented
Simultaneous development of hardware, software, materials and curriculum needed

Na said "The Korean 3D printing market is relatively slow due to high maintenance fee of imported products and the low quality assembly's attempt to dominate the market. We are quite behind in the field compared to advanced countries but we can start now by segmenting the market and supporting excellent companies."

The advantage of using 3D printer is low cost and time saving. It can improve the existing industrial systems and the root of basic science. To build excellent hardware, major companies unsparing support is needed and to develop software, materials and training system, each company must pour its own effort.

Na continued "We are now looking at 4D printing. It is closely related to 'materials' and it is important for children to learn and try the technique as they are the ones who will lead the industry in the future."
If 3D printing creates a product, 4D printing enables the product to auto-function according to the time and its surroundings. It is like a heart pumping.

S.C.E Center to prepare 3D printing course for children
Daon 3D Printing Department to participate in Gwangju ACE Fair

Na is planning to develop Gwangju National University of Education's Multimedia Research Institute 3D printing course, and to start a training program for after-school lecturers at Lifelong Education Center at the same university. Also, he is preparing for establishing S,C,E (Safety School! Creation! Experience Education!) 3D Printing Center applied with maps, puzzles, roller coaster, science, maths, art and society for children and middle school students. In addition, the department is participating in Gwangju ACE Fair (Sept. 17-20) held at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center and will give 3D printing business information session for Chinese companies.

Na started 3D printing business because he always looked a way to teach 3D printing to students. "I feel worth when my students go creative with 3D printing after my instruction" said Na. Realizing infinite possibilities with 3D and 4D printing! Daon 3D Printing Department will take a great part in the development of the Korean 3D and 4D printing technology.
