[Interview] 이루향서원 안국동차관 오픈해
중국 전통의 차와 향도 문화 널리 알리는 복합 문화 공간
향도 체험, 중국고전악기 강습 등 다양한 프로그램

아시아의 대표적인 음료인 차는 역사적으로 오랜 기간 많은 이들에게 사랑받아 왔으며, 그 중에서도 차의 종주국이라 불리는 중국에서는 차문화와 차의 예술의 결합이라는 '차예'가 발달하였다. 향도는 한마디로 말하자면 즉 ‘향을 맡으며 즐기는 것’ 이다. 향을 이용하는 유사한 방식인 서양의 아로마 테라피가 치유를 위한 것이라고 한다면, 향도는 치유에 대한 강조라기보다는 향을 맡음으로서 질좋은 호흡의 연습으로 몸을 건강하게 하고 정신적 안정을 찾는것이다. 이루향서원 정진단 원장은 차와 향을 비롯한 동양의 전통문화 보급에 앞장서고 있다.

2009년부터 중국차 향도 교육 등 진행해오다 6월 안국동 차관 오픈해 
향기 맡으며 질 좋은 호흡으로 건강한 심신을 유지한다
서울 안국동에 6월 3일 안국동차관을 오픈한 이루향서원 정진단 원장은 중국고급평차사, 중국문화부 향도협회 정회원이자 이루향서원 원장, 한국향도협회 회장 직을 맡고있으며 향도 문화의 전파를 위해 앞장서고 있는 인물이다. 근년에는 <중국향도/2014>, <호흡의 예술-향도/2015> 라는 한국 최초로 향도에 관한 책을 출판하여 한국에 향도의 시작을 이끌었다. 8년전 남편을 따라 한국에 들어와 2009년부터 중국차 교육, 향도 교육, 중국 고전악기 교육, 차문화 교류, 차산지 기행 등의 활동을 진행하고 있었다. 2011년 이루향서원을 열고 안국동으로 터를 잡고 활발할 활동을 해오다가 이번에 새로이 오픈한 안국동 차관은 보다 체계적인 교육을 위한 장소가 필요하다는 회원들의 의견으로 탄생한 공간이다. 정원장은 '<향기>라는 단어는 향과 기氣를 더한것이라 향을 맡으면서 호흡을 하고 그 기운과 소통을 하면 마음을 안정시키고 잡념을 없애며 질 좋은 호흡은 몸을 맑게 한다. 꽃향기를 맡을때 절로 호흡을 길게 해서 맡으면 기분이 상쾌해지며 화날 때 심호흡을 하면 마음이 다소 차분해지는 이 모두 호흡의 영향이다. 하루 십분의 상쾌한 향기는 하루를 편안하게 하고 매일 십분의 질 좋은 호흡은 체질을 바꾼다'라고 하였다. 차관이라는 단어는 중국에서 쓰이는 말로, 한국의 찻집보다 더 넓은 개념이다. 70~80평이 넘는 규모의 장소에서 단지 차를 마시는 것만이 아니라 다양한 문화 행사도 함께 한다. 특히 중국과의 사업을 하고 있는 한국인들도 '중국인들과 비즈니스를 진행할 때는 차관에서 계약이 진행되는 경우가 많이  있다고 한다.

향도체험, 중국고전악기 강습 등 다양한 프로그램
차와 향도 문화의 여유와 멋을 알리는 공간
안국동차관은 중국 고유의 차 문화를 전파하는 것만이 아니라 향도체험(품향회), 나만의 향 만들기, 중국고전악기 연주회/강습 등 다양한 프로그램을 함께 운영하고 있다. 그 중 가장 눈길을 끄는 것은 주한 중국문화원에서 중국 고전악기인 고쟁을 가르치고 있는 5세 때부터 중국 고전 악기인 고쟁을 공부하여 현재 이화여대 가야금/고쟁 과정 석사를 마치고 박사 과정을 준비 중인 왕웨이 선생의 고쟁 강좌다. 왕웨이는 한국 유학와서부터 이루향서원에서 악기연주와 강습을 진행해 오고 있으며, 작/편곡 능력을 두루 인정받아 현재 개인 음반을 준비 중이기도 하다.

안국동 차관이 제공하는 메뉴 중 가장 특이한 것은 모든 메뉴에서 가장 먼저 나오는 영빈차다. 안국동차관에서 직접 만드는 영빈차는 '귀하신 손님을 맞이하는 차'라는 의미로 중국 안길 해발 1,500m에서 자라는 야생 국화와 안길백차(녹차), 구기자 두 알을 넣어 만든 차로, 그 모습을 보는 손님들마다 아름다움에 감탄하는 차다. 정진단 대표는 "회원 중 찻집을 운영하고자 하는 분들에게 재료와 운영 등에 대한 정보와 노하우, 관련 중국 업체 등에 대한 지원을 하고 있다"며 "안국동 차관이 바쁜 일과 스트레스에  지쳐있는 현대인들에게 차와 향도, 서예, 고전음악을 즐기며 동양문화를 향유할 수 있는 여유와 멋을 알리는 잠시라도 힐링을 할수 있는 공간이 되고 싶다"는 포부를 이야기했다.

차를 마신다는 것은 단순히 마실 거리를 찾는 것이 아니라 예로부터 내려오는 정신문화의 정수를 맛보고 그 안에서 심신을 가다듬는 것이다. 안국동 차관은 중국 전통의 차 문화와 향도 문화를 맛볼 수 있는 복합 문화공간이자 세계에 널리 알릴 수 있는 정신문화의 정수를 가진 공간으로 자리매김하게 될 것이다.

Maintaining healthy body and soul with incense and breathing
Director of Iruhyangseone, Jeong Jin-dan opened Angukdong Tea House on June 3 this year. She takes initiative in spreading incense culture by taking various roles such as a member of Incense Culture Association of Chinese Ministry of Culture and Chairwoman of Korea Incense Culture Association. She also published 'Chinese Incense Culture' in 2014 and 'Incense Culture: Art of Breathing' in 2015. She came to Korea with her Korean husband 8 years ago and involved herself in various education in Chinese tea, incense culture, zither lesson, tea culture exchange and tour of tea-growing districts from 2009. She then opened Iruhyangseone in Angukdong in 2011 which led her to eventually open Angukdong Tea House encouraged by the members of Iruhyangseone. Jeong says "'scent' means smell and energy and it stabilizes mind, removes petty thoughts and clears the body through breathing in and out. We naturally breath deep when we sniff scent from a flower and this makes us feel fresh and calm. There is a saying "A 10 minute of fresh scent a day makes us easy and changes our physical constitution." Jeong added that "the Chinese term 'Chagwan (tea house)' is a 231 to 264 square meter space where people not only drink tea but also have a business meeting and cultural events." 

A variety of programs from incense experience to zither lesson
A space to spread the charm of tea & incense culture 
Currently, Angukdong Chagwan is holding a variety of programs including 'Incense Experience (appreciation)', 'Making Self Incense' and 'Chinese Zither Concert/Lesson' over just spreading tea culture. Most notable among these is the zither lesson taught by Wang Wei. She started to play the instrument when she was five. She recently finished a master's course in Korean/Chinese zithers at Ewha Womans University and is currently preparing for a PhD alongside giving a lesson at China Culture Center in Seoul.

She shared the history with Iruhyangseone from the moment she landed on the Korean soil and is now preparing a solo album with her high praised talent in composition and arrangement. When you visit Angukdong Chagwan, the first tea you will be served is 'Youngbin Cha'. Jeong created the tea in the meaning of greeting customers with utmost honor and care. The tea is made of wild chrysanthemum, Angil Baek Cha (green tea) and two pieces of lycium growing at 1,500 meters above sea level in Angil, China. Whoever sees the tea cannot help surprised at its beauty and gives an exclamation. Jeong said "we support our members who want to open a tea house with our know-how, information and materials. I hope our tea house can be a place for busy and tired modern people to have a rest through tea, incense, music and calligraphy."
