박근혜 대통령, 제60회 현충일 추념식
박근혜 대통령은 지난달 6일 국립서울현충원에서 열린 제60회 현충일 추념식에 참석했다. 박 대통령은 추념사를 통해 순국선열과 호국영령들의 숭고한 희생이 있었기에 오늘날 우리나라가 자유민주주의를 지키고 세계 속의 경제 강국으로 발돋움할 수 있었다고 강조하며, 그 분들의 희생이 헛되지 않도록 정부 차원에서 최선의 노력을 다 할 것이라고 밝혔다. 이어 조국을 위해 희생하신 분들의 뜻을 계승하는 일은 한반도 평화통일이라며 대한민국의 재도약과 한반도 평화통일로 나가기 위해서는 국민 모두의 단합된 힘이 필요하다고 언급했다.

먼저 박근혜 대통령은 순국선열과 호국영령들의 고귀한 희생을 기리면서 명복을 빌고, 나라를 위해 헌신하신 국가유공자분들과 유가족께도 깊은 위로와 감사의 뜻을 전했다. 특히 우리가 오늘 누리고 있는 자유와 번영은 나라 사랑의 마음으로 고난과 역경을 헤쳐 왔던 순국선열들의 숭고한 희생이 있었기에 가능했다며, 이러한 분들의 숭고한 희생과 헌신을 기억하고 그 뜻을 이어나갈 수 있도록 하는 것이 중요하다고 강조했다.

박 대통령은 정부는 선열들이 남긴 숭고한 정신을 높이 기리면서 그 분들의 희생이 헛되지 않도록 합당한 예우를 하는 일에 정성을 다하고 있다고 밝히며, 그간 정부의 노력들을 설명했다. 지난 4월 중국 상하이에서 매헌 윤봉길 기념관을 재개관하고, 하반기에는 상하이와 충칭의 대한민국 임시정부 청사도 새롭게 단장해서 재개관 할 것이라고 밝혔다. 올해부터는 독립유공자 인명사전 편찬 사업도 시작한다고 언급했다. 이어 박근혜 대통령은 대한민국을 목숨으로 지켜낸 호국영웅들의 명예를 높이는 사업도 꾸준히 추진해 나갈 것이라고 강조했다.

박근혜 대통령은 6월 호국보훈의 달을 맞아서 국가유공자와 유가족들을 청와대에 초청하고, 오찬을 함께 했다. 먼저 박근혜 대통령은 ‘국가유공자 여러분의 희생과 헌신이 없었다면 오늘의 대한민국도 없었을 것’이라며 국가유공자들에게 감사의 뜻을 전했다. 이어 누구나 말로는 나라를 사랑한다고 말할 수 있어도 자신의 생명까지 바쳐가며 나라와 국민을 위해 희생하는 일은 아무나 할 수 없는 숭고한 일이라며 국가유공자들의 희생과 헌신에 재차 감사의 인사를 전했다.

박 대통령은 국가유공자들에게 나라 안팎으로 직면한 많은 도전과 어려움을 극복하고 새로운 미래로 도약하기 위해서는 국민과 함께 힘을 모아 변화와 혁신의 길로 나서야 한다고 강조했다. 특히 국가혁신과 4대 부문 구조개혁을 통해 경제 재도약의 토대를 마련하고, 튼튼한 안보를 바탕으로 북한을 진정한 변화의 길로 이끌어 한반도 통일 시대를 여는 일에도 최선을 다할 것이라고 언급했다. 이어 박근혜 대통령은 우리 후손들이 올바른 국가관과 애국심을 갖고 살 수 있도록 국가유공자들의 명예를 드높이고 소홀함이 없도록 할 것이라고 밝혔는데요. 국가유공자들이 나라 사랑의 표상인만큼 우리 국민들이 하나된 마음으로 국가 발전의 힘을 모을 수 있도록 앞장서고, 대한민국을 올바른 길로 이끄는 길잡이가 되어 줄 것을 당부했다.

President Park attended the commemorative ceremony of the 60th anniversary of Memorial Day on June 6 held at Seoul National Cemetery. Park said in her commemorative speech that we could be able to build democracy and economic prosperity in our land thanks to those patriots who sacrificed their lives to protect the country. Park said that the government will do everything to keep their honorable death not to be in vain. She continued that it is now our job to unify the country in peaceful way in succeeding of their good will and spirit and we need to work together to achieve it. Park prayed for the repose of the deceased and delivered her consolation and thanks to veterans and bereaved families. Park said that the freedom and prosperity we are enjoying today was only possible thanks to those patriots and emphasized on the importance to succeed their noble spirit and sacrifice. The government opened Patriot Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall last April in Shanghai, China and is planning to renovate and reopen The Provisional Government of Korea in Chongqing and Shanghai as well as launch Independence Activist Biographical Dictionary Compilation Project within the year. Park added that she will keep carrying out related projects and events to raise the honor of the patriots and encourage the people to love their country more.

President Park invited men of national merit and bereaved families to Blue House on the occasion of Memorial Month of June. Park said that there is no Korea today without patriots' noble sacrifice and expressed her gratitude to veterans and bereaved families. She continued that everyone can say that they love the country in word but it is truly noble and honorable to devote oneself to save the country in action. She said that we have to overcome many problems and challenges laying in front of us and work together based on change and innovation to build a promising future. The government will create a foundation for new leap forward through national level innovation in the four sectors and will achieve peaceful unification based on strong national security and dialogue. For this, Park said that she would instill patriotism into the heart of people by raising the honor of the patriots. She asked men of national merit, bereaved families and the people to work together to build a stronger and better country.
