Passion in building a happier and more hopeful Seogwipo City
Young leaders to participate in building an energetic city
President Yoo Jeong-hyeob of Seogwipo Junior Chamber

Developing society with integration and communication
Our society is consisted of a variety of objects and classes. One of achievements of Roosevelt is that he integrated people under one purpose of 'Social Evolution' through powerful leadership and communication. This tells us that active and spontaneous participation can generate a great effect to lead a productive society and the same applies to Seogwipo Junior Chamber. With its ideology of regional & national development and service to humanity, the chamber was established in March 1971.

JCI(Junior Chamber International) established in 1915 by Henry Giessenbier is a private organization for aged between 20 to 42 who have productive ideologies regardless race, nationality, region, sex and occupation. It currently has 400,000 members from 97 member countries. In accordance with the ideology of JCI, Seogwipo JC has been exerting its effort in regional development for 45 years under the great cause of "Future of Nation, Responsibility of Young Men" and is playing a role as bridge between the generations. Yoo said "our activities cover from protection and promotion of youth to taking care of elderly people. All the decision makings are made through mutual respect and horizontal relationship."

Fostering global leaders
Seogwipo JC provides members a training for potential development and presentation skills and allocates a role to each member in social activities. They held The 1st Jeju International Experimental Arts Festival to promote regional tourism and various seminars to create a happier and more hopeful Seogwipo City. They rented a 19,834 square meter land in Mongolia with a leading JC in Mongolia as part of 'Good Health Good World - second story', following the first story in 2014, to transfer agricultural technology in the hope of eradicate poverty and to protect environment.

Yoo is also passionate in helping people in need in the city. Yoo said "we need an urgent medical support for disadvantaged children and youth in the city. For this, we, Busan Geumjeong JC (President Choi Gyeong-su), Gwacheon JC (President Mun Jeong-suk) and the Mongolian leading JC (President Erdenebold Sukhbaatar) donate $4,000 to Seogwipo Medical Center every year." They also has been giving a scholarship to 4 to 5 students since 1982 and 600kg to 700kg of rice to Happy Sharing Food Market. Yoo said "our goal this year to successfully hold The 2nd Jeju International Experimental Arts Festival as well as successfully close the 'Good Health Good World' project in Mongolia. We strongly believe that private level international support projects will contribute to raising the status of Korea."

Recently, Jeju has suffered from reckless development and the conflict between the returned farmers and the native farmers. For this, Yoo emphasized on building a system that can effectively manage the problems and various programs for the farmers of both parties. Yoo said "young people are the driving force of the nation. We can build a better society when these young people have a great personality and civic spirit. As a leader of young people in the region, we will do our best to suggest a practical future vision."
