Jeju Island is one of the most visited tourist regions in Korea. Boasting its Biosphere Reserve, World Natural Heritage Site and Global Geoparks, Jeju was visited by 12.27 million people from home and abroad last year. But it gets a little bit different when it comes to local speciality and 'Deomjang' located in Jungmun Tourism Complex is a must visit and try.

The freshest fish such as abalone, hairtail, mackerel, cuttle fish and turban shell are directly supplied from the sea in front. The location made the restaurant have a philosophy to provide only the freshest food to customers. Ever since Bu ran a seafood cart around Kimnyoung Beach 23 years ago, Bu never changed his mind to use 100% local, or at least, domestic marine products picked up by fisherman and women divers. Thanks to Bu's determination and master cooking in seafood, the restaurant has a considerable number of regulars. Bu said "food decides the locality. I'm confident to say that you can taste the essence of Jeju at Deomjang Restaurant."

Bu opened Deomjang around Jeju International Airport in 2002. Despite the area was still scanty at the time, the fame of the Bu did not deter people to come to the restaurant to taste the food. Bu said "I was confident of my sincerity in managing the business. Encouraged by this, I moved the restaurant to the current place in Seogwipo in 2006 with a bigger space." Then the restaurant was reborn as Deomjang Group and is currently regarded as one of the best in the food industry in Jeju.

Deomjang Group is consisted of Jungmun Deomjang, Gangnam Deomjang, Tortoise & Hare, Women Divers' Village and Ssangal. Gangnam Deomjang is located in the heart of Seoul so that every citizen can easily access, Tortoise & Hare is located around Yongdam Coastal Road and appeared on media home and abroad, Women Divers' Village has indoor cart bar-like interior and Ssangal is a raw fish restaurant where you can see the sea through the windows. Bu said "all of theses restaurants are run under our management philosophy "We touch each customer with our sincerity."

Without the customers who appreciate our food and services, we could have not been able to where we are now. Therefore, it is our duty to serve each customer with our heart." Meanwhile, Bu is actively participating in various social activities including Community Chest of Korea, Red Cross, helping children of families without parents, rice sharing and returning part of profits to society in addition to support welfare and scholarship for his staff and their families. 

Bu has a goal to grow his group to be functioning within the cultural boundary. Bu said "dine-out market is changing constantly and this is only natural as people always look for something new. The important thing is the quality of food and services alongside building its brand value." For this, Bu is working hard in developing new menus that has the elements of local speciality. Bu added "Jeju has beautiful natural environment and unique culture. To attract more tourists to Jeju, we need show and provide them the essence of Jeju with kindness and excellent services.
