최경환 총리대행, "메르스로 일부 소비위축 불안심리 확산 차단"
최경환 국무총리 직무대행은 지난 달 11일 "메르스 사태로 일부 업종에서 시작된 소비위축이 내수 전반으로 옮겨 붙지 않도록 과도한 불안심리의 확산을 차단하는데 주력하겠다"고 밝혔다. 최 총리대행은 이날 경기 평택에서 개최한 '메르스 피해업종 간담회'에서 "메르스 사태로 소비심리가 위축되고 외국 관광객들의 방한 취소가 잇따르면서 서비스 업종을 중심으로 영향이 가시화하고 있다"며 이같이 말했다. 그는 "메르스에 대해 냉철하고 신속한 대응은 필요하지만 과민할 필요도 없다는 것이 전문가들의 공통된 의견"이라면서 "세계보건기구(WHO)와 외국 전문가들도 '한국 여행을 자제할 필요는 없다'고 권고했다"고 전했다.

그러면서 "정부는 앞으로도 메르스 관련 정보를 투명하게 제공해 불필요한 루머 확산을 막고 국제사회와의 소통을 강화하겠다"며 "주한 외국상의와 인접국 대사도 직접 만나 객관적 상황을 설명하고 협조를 구하겠다"고 설명했다. 그는 "내수경제 회복세가 아직 미약한 상황에서 서민경제의 어려움이 더욱 가중돼 매우 안타깝다"며 "평택 등 확진자가 발생한 병원 주변 지역에서 피해를 입은 소상공인들에게는 1000억원 규모의 특별자금을 지원하겠다"고 강조했다. 특히, "긴급 실태조사를 통해 정부 지원에서 소외된 피해업종이 없는지 살펴보고 추가 지원방안을 적극 마련하겠다"며 "국민들이 필요한 정보와 지원을 제 때 받을 수 있도록 '피해접수ㆍ안내 콜센터'도 운영하겠다"고 덧붙였다. 최 총리대행은 "많은 불편을 감수하며 협조해 주시는 국민들과 메르스 퇴치를 위해 헌신적으로 노력하는 의료인들에게 이 자리를 빌려 감사드린다"면서 "정부는 이번 주가 메르스 확산의 분수령이 될 것으로 보고 총력 대응체제를 유지하겠다"고 말했다.

주형환 기획재정부 1차관, "현장 밀착형 취업연계 교육 강화" 현장 방문
주형환 기획재정부 1차관은 지난 달 10일 "청년고용 촉진을 위해 현장 밀착형 교육을 확대하고 고교ㆍ대학의 취업연계 교육을 강화하는 대책을 계속 추진하겠다"고 밝혔다.
주 차관은 이날 서울 수도전기공업고등학교를 방문해 현장 맞춤형 교육 활성화를 위한 간담회를 열고 "최근 청년고용 부진이 계속돼 청년 고용절벽에 대한 우려가 깊다"며 이같이 말했다. 수도전기공고는 한국전력공사가 출연ㆍ운영하는 마이스터고 1기 학교다. 한전과의 산학협력을 통해 맞춤형 교육 과정을 운영하고 있다. 수도전기공고처럼 산업인력 수요와 연계한 맞춤형 교육과정으로 운영되는 마이스터고는 현재 전국에 44개교가 지정돼 있다.

주 차관은 "정부는 고교 3년과 전문대 2년 과정을 통합해 입학과 동시에 취업이 보장되는 고교-전문대(Uni-Tech) 도입, 산학일체형 특성화고 확대, 일ㆍ학습 병행제 확산 등을 통해 맞춤형 교육이 확대되도록 노력하고 있다"며 "학교도 현장 맞춤형 인재 양성과 학생들의 취업 지원을 위해 노력해야 한다"고 당부했다. 그러면서 "마이스터고 운영 경험을 통해 현장 중심 교육의 발전 방향을 모색할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다"며 "기업과 연계한 교육이 조기 취업으로 이어지고 우수한 인재가 마이스터고로 모이는 선순환 구조가 직업교육 및 대학교육 전반으로 확산되기를 바란다"고 강조했다. 주 차관은 또한 "정부는 '구조개혁 없이는 청년실업 문제를 해결할 수 없다'는 인식 아래 4대 부문 구조개혁을 추진하고 있다"면서 "청년 고용절벽에 대응하기 위한 범정부 차원의 종합대책을 7월에 발표하기 위해 준비하고 있다"고 설명했다. 이어 "공공기관의 경우 지방으로 이전하며 과거와 채용환경이 크게 달라져 교육 훈련 및 채용 방식에 대한 고민이 필요하다"며 "한전과 수도전기공고 사례처럼 공공기관과 마이스터고의 협력 사례가 확산되도록 정부도 노력하겠다"고 덧붙였다.

Acting Prime Minister said that he would exert his effort in blocking the spread of weakened consumer confidence caused by MERS at 'MERS Affected Business Briefings' held at Pyeongtaek, adding that the service industry in particular was much affected as the number of foreign visitors had significantly decreased. He continued "quick and meticulous measures against MERS are needed but we should not be over reacting as WHO and foreign specialists even mentioned that it is not necessary to be discouraged to travel ROK", adding that "the government will share information with the public to prevent rumors about MERS and strengthen cooperation with international society. We will also keep updating the situation to foreign ambassadors and neighboring countries and ask their cooperation."

He added "it is regretful that MERS is much affecting small business in this time of economic downturn and we are planning to support $100M to those who have been severed damaged around the hospital affected by MERS in Pyeongtaek. We will also work on additional support measures and will run a MERS hot line. I would like to thank the people for their cooperation and the medical teams for their devotion. We expect that this week will be a watershed and we will give everything we can to prevent further spread."

Ju, visiting the site of field job training
Ju Hyeong-hwan, First Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance said on June 10 that he will expand field job training and strengthen cooperation between universities and industries to promote youth job creation.
Ju visited Sudo Electric Technical High School to hold a meeting and said that we needed to activate field and customized job training as youth employment rate was really low at the moment. The school is the first meister school funded and run by KEPCO and the school is running customized curriculum in cooperation with KEPCO. There are currently 44 meister schools like the one above nationwide.

Ju said "the government is planning to introduce Uni-Tech that combines 3 year high school with 2 year college to guarantee students a job. The government will also expand specialized high schools. We are expecting to find ways for field-centered education through the experience of running meister schools and this will contribute to job creation in cooperation between academics and industries", adding that "we cannot solve youth unemployment without structural reform and therefore we are preparing to release comprehensive countermeasures in July. Like the case of KEPCO and Sudo Electric Technical High School, we will do our best to spread the case nationwide."
