박근혜 대통령, 미 전략국제문제연구소 대표단 접견
박근혜 대통령은 미 전략국제문제연구소(CSIS) 햄리 소장과 죌릭 전 세계은행 총재를 비롯한 CSIS 대표단을 접견하고 한미관계, 한반도․동북아 정세 등에 대해 의견을 교환했다. 먼저 박근혜 대통령은 취임 당시만 해도 전작권 전환, 방위비 분담 협상, 한․미 원자력 협정 개정 등 양국 간 중요한 현안들이 많이 있었는데 양국이 상호신뢰를 바탕으로 긴밀한 협의를 통해 현안들을 모두 원만히 해결할 수 있었다고 언급했다. 이러한 양국 간 차이를 조정할 수 있는 능력이 한․미 동맹의 가장 큰 힘이라고 의미 부여했다.

특히, 최근에 타결된 한․미 원자력 협정 개정은 양국이 창의적인 방법으로 서로 Win-Win 하는 결과를 가져오게 되었다는 점에서 큰 의미를 지닌다고 언급하며, CSIS측의 조언과 지원에 대해 감사의 뜻을 전했다. 또한 양국 관계를 더욱 강화해 나가기 위해서는 고위급 인사 교류가 활성화 되는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다고 언급하며 올해 안으로 방미를 통해 역내 평화와 안정을 위한 한․미 동맹의 역할 제고, 글로벌 파트너십 강화 등 협력 방안에 대한 협의를 기대하고 있다고 말했다.

이에 CSIS 대표단은 지난 2년간 중요한 현안들을 해결하고 지금과 같이 역대 가장 견고한 한․미 동맹 관계를 발전시켜 올 수 있었던 것은 박 대통령이 발휘한 리더십의 역할이 컸다며 앞으로도 한․미 동맹 발전을 위한 강력한 리더십을 발휘해 줄 것을 기대했다. 특히 박 대통령의 방미에 큰 기대를 갖고 있으며 이를 통해 양국 관계가 한층 더 강화될 것으로 확신한다고 언급했다.

박근혜 대통령, 주한외교단 리셉션 개최!
날이 갈수록 푸름을 더하고 있는 청와대 녹지원에 우리나라에 상주하고 있는 각국 외교사절 및 국제기구 대표내외 분들이 찾아왔다. 지난달 7일 열린 리셉션에는 교황청 대사인 오스발도 파딜랴(Osvaldo PADILLA) 주한외교단장대리 등 총 109개의 주한 상주대사와 대사대리 내외 170여명을 비롯해 국제기구대표 등 총 280여명이 참석했다.

박근혜 대통령은 리셉션을 통해 우리의 소중한 외교 파트너인 주한 외교단이 그동안 우리나라와 각국 간 우호협력 관계 증진을 위해 노력해 준 데에 대한 감사의 뜻을 전하고 더불어 우리 정부의 외교 정책에 대한 지속적인 지지와 협조를 당부했다.

박근혜 대통령은 리셉션에 참석한 각국 대사들과 환한 미소로 일일이 악수하며 인사를 나눴다. 더불어 “신록이 짙어가는 계절에 여러분들을 청와대 녹지원에 모시게 되어서 기쁘게 생각합니다.”라며 환영인사를 전했다. 이어 박 대통령은 지난 2년 반 동안 양자회담과 다자 대화를 통해 많은 성취를 이룰 수 있었던 것도 주한 외교단의 ‘보이지 않는 노력’이 있었기 때문이라고 밝혔다. 이어 양자차원의 협력 강화는 물론이고, 주요 국제적 이슈에 대응하는 데에 많은 도움을 준 외교단에게 감사의 마음을 전했다.

박근혜 대통령은 국제관계와 외교에 있어 정말 중요한 것은 ‘신뢰’라고 밝혔다. ‘신뢰’라는 무형의 자본이 든든하게 뒷받침 될 때 서로가 더 큰 이익을 만들어갈 수 있고, 국가 간의 공동이익이 커지면서 신뢰가 더욱 두터워진다고 밝혔다.

따라서 정부에서는 출범 이후 신뢰외교를 대외 정책의 주요 기조로 삼을 뿐 아니라, 대한민국과 여러분이 대표하는 국가 간 최대한의 합치점을 찾기 위해 노력하고 있다고 밝혔다. 박 대통령은 앞으로도 양국 간의 협력은 물론 기후변화, 테러, WMD 확산, 사이버 안보와 같이 국제사회가 공동으로 당면한 과제들을 해결하는 데에 최대한의 공통분모를 찾아가길 희망한다고 말했다. 더불어 우리가 나아가고자 하는 상생 협력의 길에 주한 외교단이 든든한 동반자가 되어줄 것을 요청했다.

Park received the delegation of Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) including the Director of SCIS John Hemre and the World Bank Chief Robert Zoellick and exchanged opinions on Korea-US relationships and the situations on the Korean peninsular & East Asia. Park said that there were many important issues such as switching of wartime operational control, The Defense Budget Sharing Agreement and the revision of the ROK-US Atomic Energy Agreement but they settled them all through friendly negotiations. Park continued "it means a lot that we have capability to tune up the differences between the two countries. Especially, the recent revision of the ROK-US Atomic Energy Agreement produced a win-win agreement through both parties creative negotiations. In order to strengthen the bilateral relationship, the high-level exchanges are a must and I'm expecting to bring good results on enhancing ROK-US Alliance and strengthening global partnership when I will visit the U.S. within the year." The delegation said that both countries settled the current issues nicely for the last two years and developed a strong Korea-US Alliance thanks to Park's effort and leadership. They also said that they are looking forward to seeing Park in the US soon and are sure that they together will bring even stronger bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Park invited foreign diplomats and the representatives of the international organizations living in Korea to the Blue House. The reception held on 7 last month and was participated by 280 people including 109 foreign ambassadors and 170 charge d'áffaires as well as Ambassador of the Vatican Osvaldo PADILLA and Acting Chief of the Diplomatic Corps in Korea. Park expressed her gratitude to the Corps for its effort to develop friendly and cooperative relationships between Korea and each country and asked them to support the Korean government's foreign policies. Park shook hands with each participant and exchanged greetings and said "I am grateful to invite you all to the Blue House in this season of verdure. The reason we could produce many successful results for the last 2 years through bilateral and multi-lateral meetings is because of the hidden effort of you. I once again thank you for your help to build strong bilateral cooperation as well as solving global issues." Park continued "building trust is very important in international relations and diplomacy. We can create bigger benefits and develop it further based on mutual trust. This is the reason that the Korean government prioritizes trust and respect in diplomacy as the core foreign policy and we will find the common ground between the countries through the policy." Park added "I hope that we will together find solutions for climate change, terrorism, WMD proliferation and cyber security in the world and I ask you to be strong and steadfast companions to achieve it."
