대한민국 산업화의 ‘히든 히어로들’ 한 자리에 모이다
수출 6,000억 달러 민관 협업으로 달성하자
전경련, 대한민국을 만든 평범한 영웅들에게 감사하는 정원음악회 개최

세계 13위 경제대국의 기적을 만든 산업화에 활약한 대한민국의 ‘히든 히어로들’이 한자리에 모였다. 파독과 월남파병 시기부터, 본격 산업화의 시작인 사회기반시설 건설기와 대규모 산업·공업단지 조성기 등에서 활약한 산업역군들이 그 주인공들이다. 전국경제인연합회(이하 ‘전경련’)는 13일 저녁, ‘자랑스러운 대한민국’을 가능케 한 ‘우리의 평범한 영웅들’에게 감사하는 「전경련회관 정원음악회」를 개최했다. 영화 ‘국제시장’을 테마로 한 이번 음악회에는 파독근로자, 중동 근로자, 월남참전 용사 등이 주인공으로 참석한 가운데, 시민 등 총 700여 명이 함께 했다.

이승철 전경련 상근부회장은 "1인당 국민소득이 53달러였던 나라가 광복 후 70년이 된 지금 3만 불의 나라가 되기까지, 우리에게는 역사적인 모멘텀들이 있었고 실제 역사를 이룬 분들은 현장에서 피땀 흘린 평범한 산업역군들이다"라고 밝혔다. 이어서, "독일의 광산과 병원, 중동의 사막, 월남의 정글, 그리고 대한민국 곳곳에서 가족과 나라를 위해 묵묵히 헌신한 실제 주인공들을 처음으로 한 자리에 모시게 되어 영광"이라며 감사와 존경을 표했다.

실제, 전경련은 우리나라 최초 내륙공업단지(서울 구로동)와 울산공업단지, 종합제철소 건립 계획을 제안했고, 중동지역에 민간경제협력사절단을 파견하여 국내기업의 중동 진출을 적극 지원한 바 있다.

이 날 음악회에 참석한 ‘히든 히어로’들 역시 당시의 경험과 고생담을 나누었다. 영화 ‘국제시장’ 속 덕수·영자 부부와 같은 파독 광부·간호사 출신 최희석·정옥련 부부는, "외로운 타지에서 만나서인지, 500km나 떨어진 곳에 있어도 서로 의지하며 열심히 일해 지금에 이르렀다"며 "독일과 비교해도 손색없는 현재의 대한민국에 자랑스럽고, 이런 자리를 통해 그 시절을 추억할 수 있게 해줘 감사하다"고 말했다. 또한, 70년대 산업화의 숨은 주역인 구로공단 여성근로자 윤혜련 님은, "그 시절 낮에는 공장에서 일하고, 밤에는 공부를 하면서 집안에 보탬이 되려 노력했다"며, "그 시절의 고생이 우리 가족 뿐 아니라, 대한민국 발전에 일조한 것을 자랑스럽게 생각한다"고 소회를 밝혔다. 이 밖에도 대한민국 경제개발의 본격적인 시작을 상징하는 경부고속도로 건설 근로자, 경제발전의 초석을 다진 월남참전용사 등 100여 명이 특별 초청되었다.

재외공관장 초청 경제5단체 오찬 가져
수출 6,000억 달러 달성을 위해 경제계와 재외공관장이 함께 손을 잡았다. 전국경제인연합회를 비롯한 경제5단체는 4월 2일 롯데호텔에서 2015년 재외공관장회의(3.30~4.2)차 내한한 재외공관장, 총영사를 초청하여 「재외공관장 초청 오찬간담회」를 열었다.

간담회에서 경제5단체를 대표하여 전경련 허창수 회장은 인사말을 통해 연초 글로벌 경제가 유가·환율 변동성 확대, 중국 경기 둔화 등 불안정성이 해소되지 않고 있지만 경제계와 재외공관장이 함께 손을 잡고 올해 수출 6천억 달러 달성을 위해 노력해 나가자고 하였다. 구체적으로 허 회장은 한중FTA 체결·발효, 동남아, 중동, 중남미 경제한류 확산, 중소·중견기업의 수출 확산, 마지막으로 제약, 농업과 그리고 의료, 컨텐츠를 비롯한 서비스 등 새로운 분야의 수출 확대를 제시하였다.

한편, 이날 오찬간담회에는 STX중공업 정태화 사장, 대림산업 이철균 사장, 플랜트산업협회 염동관 부회장, 조해형 나라홀딩스 회장 등 기업인 200여명과 윤병세 외교부 장관, 유흥수 주 일본 대사, 모철민 주 프랑스 대사, 임성남 주 영국 대사를 비롯한 200여명의 재외공관장이 참석했다.

FKI, holding a concert for those who built the nation

Those who contributed to developing South Korea as world's 13th economic country gathered together. They are the ones who built industrial infrastructure and large scale commercial and industrial complexes in Korea from the 1960's onwards. 

The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) held a garden concert in the evening on 13 last month at the FKI Hall to appreciate their hard work and contribution. Under the theme of the film Ode to My Father, the concert was participated by 700 people including miners worked in Germany, workers worked in the Middle East, veterans participated in the Vietnam War as well as citizens. Seungchul Lee, the Vice Chairman of FKI said "from GDP per capita of US$53 to $30,000, many of us has contributed to achieving historic momentums and we are honoured to have them here and we appreciate their unsparing efforts."

FKI in fact suggested to create 'Inland Industrial Complex (in Guro, Seoul), Ulsan Industrial Complex and Total Steelworks and dispatched Private Economic Cooperation Delegation to the Middle East to help Korean companies enter the market. The participants shared their lives and experience with each other and a couple who worked as miner and a nurse in Germany said "we built our love in a foreign land by depending on each other and it is amazing to see our nation to be one of the leading economic countries in the world now and we are pleased to be invited to the concert to have time to look back those days for a while." A female who worked in Guro Industrial Complex in the 70s said "I tried really hard to support my family by working in the day and studying at night and I'm proud that my hard work has not only contributed to my family but to my country." Also invited to the concert were 100 of construction laborers who built Geyongbu Expressway and the Vietnam War veterans.

FKI and 5 economic organizations invited diplomatic officers, who visited Korea to participate in 2015 Diplomatic Officers Meeting, and held a luncheon at Lotte Hotel on 2 April. Changsoo Huh, the Chairman of FKI said in his welcoming speech that the global economy is still unstable due to variability of oil price and exchange rate and slow down of Chinese market but we have work together to achieve US$600 billion export. For this, Huh suggested to implement Korea-China FTA, promote trade in Southeast Asia and the Middle East and Latin America, expand export of SMEs in various fields including medicine, agriculture and cultural contents. The luncheon was participated by 200 entrepreneurs including CEO of STX Heavy Industries Taehwa Jung, CEO of Daelim Chulgyun Lee, Vice CEO of Korea Plant Industries Association Donggwan Yeom and CEO of Nara Holdings Haehyeong Jo. Also participated were 200 diplomatic officers including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Byungse Yun, the ambassador to Japan Donggwan Yeom, the ambassador to France Chulmin Mo and the ambassador to UK Sungnam Im.
