창조적 산학협력 패러다임으로의 변화 이끌 터
기술혁신형 인력양성, 지역산업에 특화된 산학협력모델 창출

산업과 학문의 결합을 통해 인재양성과 기술혁신을 이루고자 정부에서 추진해 온 ‘산학협력 선도대학(LINC) 육성사업’이 중반을 넘어섰다. 각 대학이 그간 추진해 온 산학협력 사업의 성과가 가시적인 형태로 드러나고 있는 가운데, 전남대학교 LINC사업단은 광융·복합산업/친환경수송기계산업 특성화분야에 7개 단과대학이 참여하며 산업체 수요에 맞춘 우수인력을 양성하고, 효율적이고 다양한 산학협력 연계체계를 구축하는 등 우수한 성과를 창출하고 있다.

산학협력모델의 새로운 패러다임 제시
지난 2012년 4월, 산학협력 선도대학 육성 사업에 의해 설립된 전남대학교 LINC사업단은 그동안 지역연계를 기반으로 한 다양한 산학협력 선도모델을 창출·확산하고, 지역산업체 수요에 부응하는 우수인력양성 및 기술개발, 학생취업과 고용안정을 위해 다각도의 활동을 펼쳐왔다.

우선 사업단은 산학협력모델 시스템 구축을 위해 산학협력친화형 교원인사제도를 확립했다. 전임교원의 산학협력임무, 교원업적 평가 시 산학협력 반영, 교원의 산업체 파견근무 및 산학협력중점교수의 임용과 자격에 관한 사항 등을 명시함으로써 교원의 산학협력사업 참여를 활성화하는 데에 중점을 뒀다.

또한 사업단은 기존 교과과정 개편 체계에 산업계의 수요를 반영함으로써 산학협력친화형 교육과정 개편의 유연성을 확보하는 데에 주력했으며, 기업맞춤형 트랙을 대기업 중심에서 중소기업형으로 확산해 지역산업체와의 연계성을 높였다. 교과과정에서의 취업과 창업에 관련된 정규 교과목을 운영하고 창업 동아리를 활성화함으로써 학생들의 취업률을 제고하고 창업을 활성화하기 위한 방안도 마련했다. 특히 예비창업자들에게는 시제품 개발과 특허등록을 지원하고 창업보육센터 연계함으로써 실질적인 창업으로 이어질 수 있도록 하고 있다. 그밖에도 사업단은 광융·복합 및 친환경수송기계 산업 분야의 특성화를 위한 교육 과정을 개발 및 운영하고, 이를 기업 현장실습 및 캡스톤디자인과 연계함으로써 해당 분야의 맞춤형 인재양성에도 힘쓰고 있다.

LINC사업단을 이끌고 있는 조동련 단장은 “전남대 LINC사업단은 산학협력 패러다임의 변화를 이끌고 있습니다. 1단계 산학협력이 선도모델 창출과 추진의 보수적 산학협력이었다면, 2단계에는 기업친화형 산학협력을 선도해 보다 능동적이고 적극적으로 산학협력의 패러다임 변화를 모색했습니다”라고 설명했다. 

기술혁신 이끄는 One-stop 맞춤형 기업지원시스템
사업단은 ‘산학협력협의회(C4U: Chonnam National University For You)’를 통해 산학협력 pool을 조성하고, 패키지형 종합지원을 위한 ‘기업지원센터’를 신설했다. 기업지원센터를 통해 산업체의 기술지원 요구를 상시 모니터링하고 적절한 지원을 제공하고 있는 사업단의 노력은 가족회사의 경쟁력 있는 제품개발을 통해 그 성과가 증명되고 있다.

㈜에너지와공조(대표 박재동)는 에너지 관련 전문기업으로 2013년 경영혁신형 중소기업 인증, 기술혁신형 중소기업 인증을 취득했으며, 지난해에는 163억 원의 매출액을 달성하기도 했다. 에너지와공조에서 생산하는 양극소재는 LiFePO4를 이용한 것으로 우수한 안전성과 가격효율성으로 중·대형 수송용(EV)이나 전력저장용(ESS) 전지의 소재로서 가장 주목받고 있다. 또 이를 사용한 리튬인산철전지는 과열·과충전 상황에서도 폭발 위험이 없고, 에너지 밀도가 높아 수명이 기존의 3배 가까이 더 길며, 지구상에 다량 존재하는 철이라는 원소를 사용함으로써 30~40% 저가로 제품 생산이 가능하다는 강점을 가진다. 특히 안정성이 매우 뛰어나 별도의 공조시설이나 유지보수가 필요 없어 관리비 절감 및 공간 활용도가 매우 높다.

외부의 전기활성 화합물 용액에 에너지를 저장했다가 사용하는 구조의 레독스 흐름전지는 확장성과 제조, 서비스 수명 및 안전성 면에서 장점을 가진다. 또한 전해질을 모니터링 하여 충·방전 상태의 확인이 가능하므로 자동화 및 대형화가 가능하다.

㈜티디엘(대표 김유신)은 전기전자 전문기업으로서 EVA 광학필름, LED 방열패드, 복합시트를 생산하고 있다. 티디엘에서 생산하는 보호필름은 필름두께 및 평활도가 균일하고 표면에 특수 코로나를 방전 처리했다는 것이 특징이다. 가전제품의 고급 컬러 스틸시트와 스테인리스 스틸시트, 반도체 및 전자제품의 보호필름으로 사용이 가능하며, 발주사양에 따라 색상 및 규격과 흑백 양면 UV코팅 여부를 결정할 수 있다는 유연성을 가진다. 실리콘 본딩시트는 고온·고압 환경에서 치수가 안정적이며, 물성의 변화발생이 적고, 반복 압착에 유리하며, 완충력이 우수해 IC/Panel을 보호할 수 있다는 강점이 있다. 이처럼 차별화되는 기술력과 우수한 제품을 보유한 티디엘은 올 초 ‘2014년 광주광역시 명품 강소기업 30’에 선정되기도 했다.

조동련 단장은 “LINC사업단의 역할은 효과적인 산학협력 중개형 수익모델 창출과 기술혁신형 모델 수립을 통해 지역산업의 활성화를 도모하고, 기술경쟁력의 향상을 지원하는 것입니다. 또한 취·창업 적응형 인재를 양성해 산업발전을 위한 에너지원을 제공하는 것이라 생각합니다”라고 말하며 앞으로도 산학협력의 지속가능성을 제고하고 지원범위를 확대해 나가는 데에 주력하겠다고 밝혔다. 지역산업의 발전과 나아가 국가경쟁력 강화에 기여하고자 노력하고 있는 전남대학교 LINC사업단의 비전이 새로 다가올 시대에 지속발전의 원동력으로 작용하게 되기를 기대한다.

With combining industry and study, the LINC (Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation) project that the government has led for manpower cultivation and technology innovation passed some middle point already. So far, great results that each university’s Industry-university Cooperation has been working on seems visualized so that people see and in the meantime, Chonnam University’s LINC team let 7 colleges in the university take a part in specialized sectors and join the photonics convergence industry/eco-friendly transportation machinery industry, so that they can train talented students fit in industrial demands and build up various and effective connected system to make an excellent consequence in the end. 

Suggesting a new paradigm of business and academic cooperation model 
Last April in 2012, Chonnam University’s LINC team was established by a business and academic cooperation project and for a while it created many different its dealing models based on the local association and showed lots of activities from diverse angles for job hunting for students and the stability of employment in order to satisfy the local demands. First of all, the business team erected a teachers’ personnel institution for the system of business and academic cooperation. By full-time teachers’ business and academic cooperation duty, reflection of business and academic cooperation when evaluating teachers’ achievement, dispatched works to industry, points about appointment and qualification of professors of business and academic cooperation. 

Also, the business team put some industrial demands to a former curriculum so, the team focused on more to have flexibility of a friendly business and academic cooperation and enhanced the connection of local companies by expanding to medium business from big company. It was only for big companies before but now it has a try to change from the gigantic domination. They set up for some plans to encourage the startup and improve students’ job rate by running a regular curriculum associated with job and startup and the startup club. 

Especially, the team support test products development and application of patent and let prospective startup businessmen continue to some real startup by connecting a startup training center. Other than that, the team is developing and managing the photonics convergence and eco-friendly transportation machinery industry of specialization. And they are associated with a capstone design and hands-on experience, so they would cultivate customized talented people. 

Head of LINC business team, Cho Dong-Ryeon explained, “Chonnam University is leading a change of business and academy cooperation paradigm. If the first step was to create a leading model and conservative business and academy cooperation, but at the second step, we led more company friendly business and academy cooperation, so we figured out more its paradigm more actively and more aggressively.” 

Customized one-stop Company supporting system that is leading to a technical innovation 
This business team organized a business and academy cooperation pool throughout a business and academy cooperation committee of ‘Chonnam National University for You (C4U)’ and built up the company supporting center for a total package care. The good results of this structure are proven by family companies’ product development that they are monitoring their technical supporting request all the time. 

Energy and cooperation (CEO Park Jae Dong) is energy related professional company and gained the management innovation small company certification in 2013 and technology innovation small company certification as well. Last year, the company met 163 million of a turnover. Anode material is used by LiFePO4 manufactured by energy and cooperation has a great safety and price efficiency. So, it is getting attention the most as the medium and big EV or ESS batteries materials. 

And, lithium, phosphoric acid and iron battery has no danger to burst up while overheating and overcharging and the energy density is high, so the shelf life is more than three times. The better thing is it is made of iron, which is existing a lot on earth, so this product would be 30~40% cheaper compared to a current cost, which is a strong point to use. Especially, the stability is outstanding; therefore it is widely useful since it doesn’t need some extra cooperative facilities or maintenance. 

Redox battery that can use after storing energy in external electric active polymer of chemical fluid has some good qualification like expandability, manufacture, service shelf life and safety. And, it is possible to automation and bulk manufacturing because the state of charge and discharge can be controlling with monitoring electrolyte. 

CEO Kim Yoo-Shin of TDL Cooperation is producing EVA optical film, LED radiant pad and complex sheet as an electro/electric professional company. Protection films made by TDL are all even in thickness of film and flatness and have gone processed in a special charged corona treatment. It is adaptable for high-end coloring for household appliances, stainless steel sheet and semi conductive and electronic elements’ protection films and has got a flexibility of being versatile to decide the black and while for both sides of the UV coating and colors and even size depending on contracts. 

Bonding sheet made by silicon is stable in the environment of high pressure and high temperature, the change of character is low to happen, repeated pressure is beneficial and butter power is super, so it can protect IC/Panel as a benefit. Like that, a differentiated technology and excellent items belong to TDL Cooperation and they have chosen one of 30 premium small hidden champions in Gwangju metropolitan city in 2014. Head Cho Dong-Ryeon said, “The responsibility of LINC project is that we are helping local industries’ activation via technology innovation model and earning more money out of an effective business and academic cooperation. In addition, I think we are providing some energy resource for industrial development by cultivation of adaptable talented people for job and startup. He said they will more improve the sustainability by training that kind of people.” 
By that, we expect a vision of the LINC business team of Chonnam University that is trying to contribute for the local development and even national competitiveness in the further meaning will become a driving force for the coming generation in the future.
